BIRMINGHAM It’s been about five months since Birmingham Public Schools Superintendent Mark Dziatczak said he would step away from his role for an extended medical leave but didn’t share many more details than that.
But extended leave has turned permanent, as Dziatczak officially resigned as superintendent, according to the BPS Board of Education.
It was during the board’s regular meeting Feb. 23 that they accepted Dziatczak’s resignation, effective immediately.
Dziatczak could not be reached for comment before the Eagle’s press time. He shared a prepared statement regarding his resignation.
