The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural body, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has carpeted the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Garba Shehu, over his comments that President Muhammadu Buhari is very passionate about Nigeria’s unity.
Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC rather maintained that Buhari’s actions and inactions pose threat to the unity of Nigeria.
The National President of OYC, Igboayaka. O Igboayaka, in a press release, described President Buhari as “a direct opposite of Nigeria’s unity”.
Dismissing as false, a statement credited to Garba that “Buhari is so passionate about Nigeria’s unity”, Igboayaka alleged that “Shehu is on a pay job, and one of the aides that is endangering the unity of Nigeria through his sycophantic service to the president.”

Igbo socio-political group, Ohanaeze, and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have kicked against the resumption of airstrikes in Imo State by security operatives.
There was panic in Imo state on Friday as security operatives resumed airstrikes in the state.
The military bombardment was reported to have been initiated against those terrorising the state.
The airstrikes, which took place in Amuzi and Odenkwume communities in the Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area and some neighbouring communities in the Ihitte/Uboma LGA of the state caused the natives to flee their homes.
An indigene of the area said, “There is an ongoing military airstrike in Odenkwume and Amuzi communities in Obowo and their neighbouring communities in Ihitte/Uboma LGA.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has described the killing of a top commander of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, Ikonso Don as a disaster.
This was contained in a statement by the Secretary-General of the organization, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.
He said the killing had made Ikonso a martyr and further worsened the tensed security situation in the Southeast zone.
Isiguzoro while questioning the circumstances surrounding the killing of the IPOB member, declared that “we have taken time to study the entire situation before issuing this statement and we feel that many questions are left unanswered.
“There are strong counter claims that Ikonso was not killed during a gun duel contrary to the statement by security agencies. And our question is: why kill a man you have taken captive? Why did they not arrest and prosecute him in a court of competent jurisdiction?
