A grassfire in an open field came dangerously close to three homes along the border of Provo and Orem Wednesday afternoon.
Captain Sam Armstrong with Provo Fire Department said they were first alerted to the grassfire near 320 W. River Park Dr. in Provo and 400 N. Palisades Dr. in Orem around 2:40 p.m.
When fire crews arrived, they found an open field ablaze with light winds pushing the fire west across the field and in the direction of homes nearby.
Firefighters began an immediate attack on the fire and were able to extinguish the blaze, but not before the winds had pushed the fire across a canal and close to three homes bordering the open field.
