There’s no question that the Police Minister’s appearance on the programme yesterday was an epic fail. And the fallout has been immense, with calls for the Minister to be sacked.
I really wanted to know why she was so dead against those Armed Response Teams. What had stiffened her spine. Let alone her never never opposition to the general arming of the police. No matter how many cops are attacked or shot.
I put it to Poto, that along with the Police Commissioner she was placing far too much stock on the woke radical pressure groups who purport to represent the public pulse on policing issues.
“The police commissioner is wrong. He’s a very nice, pleasant person, but unfortunately, he’s a hell of a long way from the front line,” Collins said. She said communities were telling the National Party they wanted police “to be able to police the law” and suggested Coster’s problem was too much obedience to the Government. “The commissioner in my opinion has unfortunately lost the confidence of many of his frontline troops, and that’s a dreadful situation because he’s a very pleasant and nice and intelligent person – he tries his best. But you can’t serve the community as well as the Government.”

Man fled country after being caught with drugs and stun gun in Bradford A man who fled the country after he was caught driving an uninsured Audi in Bradford city centre with cannabis and a stun gun has been jailed for five months. Patrick Krok failed to attend his trial at Bradford Crown Court and was arrested at Stanstead Airport when he returned from the Czech Republic. Yesterday, he appeared before the court on a video link to HMP Leeds where he was remanded in custody following his apprehension in March. Krok, 30, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply, possession of a prohibited weapon and failing to answer his court bail.
