View Comments Four years ago, Brandon native Chase Marso was stealing headlines, and it wasn’t for his play as quarterback at Augustana University in Sioux Falls. The fifth-year senior was poised for a big year with the Vikings when he was presented with a monster decision to make. A pre-med major at Augustana, Marso was offered admission to Harvard Medical School. The rub for Marso was that he couldn’t defer. If he was going to accept the Harvard offer, he’d have to forgo his final year quarterbacking the Vikings. It was a massive honor to get the offer. According to the Harvard website, there were 7,069 applicants for the admission class and only 253 were accepted.

The 24-year-old is in his second year at Augustana University in Sioux Falls. He woke up Monday to find a thief broke into his vehicle and stole his backpack containing his prosthetic arm and all the arm attachments worth an estimated $15,000. Born without a left arm, Hanson says he’s never looked at it as a disability and has played baseball since he was a kid. Hawley is now a pitcher for the Augustana Vikings. He tells KFGO News says the theft was “mean” but after posting the theft on Facebook, he was encouraged by the support he received:
