A Knysna couple got married at Melomed Tokai hospital.
They decided to bring forward the date of their wedding to accommodate the father of the bride, who was recently diagnosed with leukaemia.
The wedding was put together in just four days.
When Ashley Aucamp dreamed of her wedding day as a little girl, it didn t involve hospital wards or her father in a wheelchair. But even though the bride tied the knot in a hastily put together ceremony at Melomed Tokai hospital, she didn t hesitate to describe it as perfect.
Ashley, 25, and Louis Aucamp, 27, from Knysna, married on Tuesday in ceremony that was a first for the hospital.
Melomed Mitchells Plain on Wednesday discharged its last Covid-19 patient.
According to the hospital, while there may be more admissions in future, this was still a key milestone .
In Mitchells Plain alone, 17 355 cases have been confirmed in the subdistrict since the outbreak.
As active coronavirus cases in the Western Cape declined overnight by over 200, a Cape Town hospital on Wednesday announced it was Covid-free after it discharged its last Covid-19 patient. Whilst we are mindful of the fact that there may be more Covid-19 admissions at the hospital in future, this key milestone is one that must not go unnoticed given the arduous journey that has been overcome in recent months, Melomed spokesperson Shameema Adams said.
No significant increase in alcohol-related private hospital admissions since move to level 1

Since the country moved to lockdown level 1, there has been no major increase in alcohol related emergency unit admissions at Life Healthcare, Melomed and Mediclinic.
Cape Town - South Africa has seen an increase in hospital admissions as a result of accidents and crime since the move to lockdown level 1, according to one of the country’s private hospital groups.
Netcare s general manager of emergency, trauma, transplant and corporate social investment, Mande Toubkin, said: “While Netcare does not specifically monitor alcohol-related emergencies, we can confirm there has been an increase in accidents and crime related incidents since the country returned to lockdown level 1.”
