Mamata Banerjee’s decision to contest the upcoming state Assembly elections from Nandigram mirrors a larger and more heated political battle panning out in Bengal. AL factional clash leaves 50, including OC, injured in Noakhali

At least 50 people, including Companiganj Police Station officer-in-charge and five other policemen, were injured in a clash between groups of Awami League in Companiganj upazila of Noakhali today.
The clash took place allegedly between the supporters of Noakhali s Basurhat municipality mayor Abdul Quader Mirza and Companiganj upazila unit Awami league organising secretary Mizanur Rahman Badal at Basurhat Bazar around 6pm, reports our Noakhali correspondent.
During the clash, both groups threw brick chips at each other, exploded crude bombs and fired blank shots, leaving 50 people injured, witnesses said.
