Pakistan Railways Suspends 8 Officials for Tragic Accident
Pakistan Railways (PR) has suspended eight of its officials including a driver and an assistant driver owing to the Karachi Express accident near Sukkur on 7 March.
A preliminary report prepared by the Federal Government Inspector of Railways (FGIR) has revealed the names of the suspended officials Muhammad Shah Afridi, Divisional Engineer-III, Sukkur (BS-18); Peeran Ditta Ghulam Murtaza, Assistant Executive Engineer (BS-17); Amanat Ali, Permanent Way Inspector of Grade-II (BS-16); Abdul Sattar, Driver; Amir Muhammad Jan, Assistant Driver; Abdul Kareem, Mate (BS-5); and Mumtaz Ali, Key-man (BS-4).
PR administration has also issued show-cause notices to the eight officials to explain themselves.

LAHORE: ThePakistan Railways’ administration on Wednesday suspended its eight officials including the driver and the assistant driver for showing negligence leading to a horrible accident of Karachi Express near Sukkur (between Mando Dairo and Sangi stations)on March 7.
The administration also issued show-cause notices to eight officers to explain their position.
According to a notification issued in the light of the accident’s preliminary inquiry report compiled by the Federal Government Inspector of Railways (FGIR), those whose services were placed under suspension with immediate effect were Muhammad Shah Afridi, Divisional Engineer-III, Sukkur (BS-18), Peeran Ditta Ghulam Murtaza, Assistant Executive Engineer (BS-17), Amanat Ali, Permanent way inspector of Grade-II (BS-16), Abdul Sattar (Driver), Amir Muhammad Jan (Assistant Driver), Abdul Kareem , Mate (BS-5) and Mumtaz Ali, Key-man (BS-4).

The Pakistan Railways has suspended five officers for showing negligence during the Rohri train accident on March 6.
One woman was killed and 30 others injured after Karachi Express, travelling from Karachi to Lahore, derailed between the Mando Dairo and Sangi stations. According to railways officials, nine bogies of the train, including Economy and AC class, derailed.
An inquiry report revealed that the accident occurred because the train’s structure was quite weak. It added that the condition became worse because the driver was speeding.
