Bakhtawar Bhutto Clarifies the Stance of Sindh Compulsory Marriage Act

SHARES The ‘Sindh Compulsory Marriage Act’ took the internet by storm yesterday. While many have expressed their approval, many public figures are totally against it. Bakhtawar Bhutto, on the other hand, clarified that the bill has nothing to do with Sindh Government. Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) MPA Syed Abdul Rasheed presented a draft of “The Sindh Compulsory Marriage Act, 2021” before the Sindh Assembly Secretariat, according to which, parents who fail to marry their children off after they turn 18 will have to pay Rs500 as a fine. Moreover, they will have to, “submit an undertaking with justified reason of delay before the Deputy Commissioner of the District”.
