BBC1 s must-watch daytime drama the Mallorca Files is BACK on screens this week

Daytime TV might not be where you expect to find a glossy crime caper, but that s exactly what BBC1 offers with The Mallorca Files, which returned this week for its second series.  Dubbed the Balearic Death In Paradise , the light-hearted daily afternoon show follows mismatched pair of police officers - laid-back German detective Max (Julian Looman) and highly strung Brit Miranda (Elen Rhys) - as they tackle the island s soaring crime rate in their own freewheeling way.    Perfect for a bit of lockdown escapism, Max and Miranda are seen careering down the island s picturesque streets in a classic BMW and horseback riding on sun-drenched hills.
