LONG BEACH, Calif. An officer with the Los Angeles Police Department was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of possessing child pornography, authorities said.
Police in the city of Long Beach began investigating James Diamond after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to a police statement.
Diamond, 52, was taken into custody outside a business in the city of Huntington Beach, the statement said. It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney.
Detectives served search warrants at Diamond’s home in Long Beach and his workplace in Los Angeles, police said.

At least two people, including an off-duty police officer, were injured Wednesday in a shooting at a Sherman Oaks apartment complex and a suspect was in custody.
The shooting was reported at about 2:25 p.m. in the 5200 block of Vesper Avenue, according to Officer William Cooper of the Los Angeles Police Department s Media Relations Division. Download our mobile app for iOS or Android to get the latest breaking news and local stories.
An off-duty LAPD officer was shot in the incident and taken to a hospital in unknown condition, according to a police statement.
Police took the suspected shooter into custody, who was also taken to a hospital in unknown condition. It was not immediately clear how the suspect was injured.
An unidentified man and an officer from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) sustained injuries after engaging in a shootout that stemmed from an altercation. The said officer was reported to be off-duty when he was shot multiple times by a suspect who broke into his private vehicle in the parking lot of the officer s apartment, Fox 11 reported.
The officer who engaged in the fight is also yet to be identified. Both the police and the suspect were brought to a hospital in stable condition. Authorities noted that both men are expected to survive, Associated Press reported.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
