Firebrand File Photo SchoolPower, Laguna Beach’s education foundation, will host the fifth annual Three Clubs Barefoot Canyon Classic & BBQ, at the Ranch at Laguna Beach on May 10. Members of the Laguna Beach community will come together for a day of golf and entertainment to raise funds to enhance the educational experience of students enrolled in the Laguna Beach Unified School District. This year’s event will feature nine holes of barefoot golf, tequila tasting, wine tasting, a barbecue dinner, live music, silent online auction, and live auction. The silent auction includes Disneyland Park Hopper Passes, a two-night stay at Montage Los Cabos, certificates for local summer camps, and gift cards to favorite local eateries. Whether they attend the event or not, community members can participate in the auction by texting “schoolpower”

Laguna Beach Local News In response to Tom Osborne’s article for Earth Day, there are many things that ring true to me personally about everyday being Earth Day. Having grown up in Los Angeles and being a strong climate advocate all my life, everyday I would see so much air pollution happening right and left and no one was doing anything about it and that made me very upset to see that. Los Angeles in the past five years has now been incredibly transformed into a model for sustainability and climate change having a master sustainability plan to reduce the public health impacts of increased wildfire frequency and dangerous smog levels that are deadly and are only getting worse with a rapidly warming climate. 20 years ago when I lived in the city that wasn’t even thought of as a possibility.

Local rental group invites public to try stand-up paddle for free Paddlers near Crescent Bay. Photo by Charlie Craig A free community sunset paddle will be held at 5 p.m. this Saturday at Baby Beach in Dana Point. The event is hosted by a stand-paddle rental group, Sup to You, and will be offered every second and fourth Saturday. Free use of paddle boards will be offered on a first-come, first-serves basis.
