Vietnam begins COVID-19 vaccination on March 8
Vietnam launches its COVID-19 inoculation drive on March 8 morning, administering the AstraZeneca vaccine to medical workers in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and northern Hai Duong province – the country’s biggest pandemic hotspot at present.
The vaccination is conducted at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi, the HCM City Hospital for Tropical Diseases and two medical centres in Hai Duong.
As many as 100 staff members of the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases are expected to receive the shots in the morning of March 8. The hospital is allocated 450 doses among the first batch of 117,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine the country has received.

Despite facing furious opposition from local residents, a big barge equipped with dredgers is publicly extracting sand off the Tra On River in Vinh Long Province, located in Vietnam s Mekong Delta.
The barge has mined sand on the river for a few days, residents of My An Village in the province s Binh Minh Town, said in a report to

It is now the peak forest peach sale season as Tet will start in three weeks. However, sales have stalled because local authorities are requiring traceability of origin on products.
Nguyen Van Hieu in the suburban district of Ba Vi in Hanoi has been traveling for the last several days to ask for information about his lot of forest peach branches.
Hieu bought the peach branches from people in Ta Xua, Bac Yen of Son La province. The branches have been seized by appropriate agencies. Hieu has been told that agencies need more time to find out if the peach branches are really from planted forests, or are from the wild.
