ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported that Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9) has so far logged a cumulative total of 40,056 recovered cases from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), representing an almost 85-percent recovery rate. The recovered cases According to the DOH-9, at least 40,056 cases have recovered out of the 47,203 Covid-19 infections since the start of the pandemic in March last year. A total of 2,023 cases have died, while 5,119 active cases remain. The DOH-9 covers the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay and the cities of Isabela and Zamboanga. This city recorded the highest Covid-19 recoveries with 17,808, followed by the province of Zamboanga del Sur with 10,438. The number of recoveries from other areas in the region are the following: Zamboanga del Norte, 7,246; Zamboanga Sibugay, 3,659; and Isabela City, 905. Meanwhile, this city posted the highest confirmed cases with 20,872; followed by Zamboanga del Sur, 11,268; Zamboanga del Norte, 9,897; Zamboanga Sibugay, 4,030; and Isabela City, 1,136. In terms of active cases, this city tallied the highest with 2,152; followed by Zamboanga del Norte, 2,211; Zamboanga del Sur, 402; Isabela City, 187; and Zamboanga Sibugay, 167. The same DOH-9 data showed that 50.4 percent of the total 5,119 active cases are asymptomatic, 40.1 percent with mild symptoms, 5.2 percent moderate, 4.1 percent severe, and 0.2 percent critical. Total death at 2,023 are broken down as Zamboanga City with 910; Zamboanga del Norte, 439; Zamboanga del Sur, 428; Zamboanga Sibugay, 202; and, Isabela City, 44.
