Yvonne Flores seeking second term on Las Cruces City Council

LAS CRUCES - Just four months ago, in January, Las Cruces City Councilor Yvonne Flores said she wasn't planning on running for a second term. Though she expressed love for her work and said she's met wonderful people in her district, Flores also said there are "qualified" people for the job she hoped would run but decided not to.
The first-term councilor — elected to represent District 6 in 2017 ousting Ceil Levatino — is running again because she still sees a lot of work ahead on the council securing affordable, "attainable" housing for the city's residents, improving access to mental health care city- and countywide, attracting companies and jobs to the area and supporting positive educational outcomes for children.
