YUNGBLUD
After a 292.5-million mile journey across space, NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover landed on Thursday (Feb. 18) with a rocking soundtrack courtesy of Yungblud.
The singer -- who had a song called "Mars" on his 2020 album
Weird! -- was heard crooning David Bowie's 1971 homage to the red planet, "Life on Mars," on NASA's live streams shortly after Perseverance touched down.
Yungblud performed the song during last months'
A David Bowie Celebration: Just For One Day! and in a statement he said, "To sing the pinnacle song by an artist that truly defined my whole existence, in a search for extraterrestrial existence was one of the best moments of my entire life. The punx went to Mars!"
