The Ohio Department of Higher Education has awarded $1.6 million to expand Youngstown State University’s Choose Ohio First scholarship program to support 225 students studying science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine.
About $1 million of that award is specifically allotted to the new YSU Student Success in STEMM Careers program, which itself will support an estimated 125 new YSU students over five years.
The new Student Success grant provides scholarships in the range of $3,000 to $3,200 for YSU students in STEMM programs, including advanced, additive, and digital manufacturing; computer engineering/technology; STEMM integrated education; the YSU-BaccMed Consortium; undergraduate nursing; or actuarial science and financial mathematics, said Dr. Stephen Rodabaugh, who leads the Choose Ohio First program at YSU.
