YORK, Maine — In recognition of the important emergency transportation services provided to town residents by the York Ambulance Association, the York Community Services Association said it will donate up to $20,000 in matching funds to YAA during the month of May.
National Emergency Medical Services Week is May 16-22, and YCSA Executive Director Michelle Surdoval said her team wanted to help YAA raise money toward the purchase of a new ambulance.
“We received a significant grant from a donor who asked that we use the money to help York seniors,” Surdoval said.
Surdoval and her staff were concerned that local seniors who need emergency transportation have not been calling 911 because of concern they could not afford to pay for any portion of the ambulance trip not covered by insurance.
