Now the speed limit along this stretch is 79 miles an hour, but a little ways before the curve take a look at this this is what a speed limit sign looks like along railroad tracks. This says 30 miles an hour, which is what that train was supposed to slow down to as it was approaching this curve to cross over the interstate. Now there were two locomotives on this train. The 1 in front was sely of the train and appears to have stayed on the tracks. Crash investigators got the black box from this locomotive today. The data shows the train was traveling at 81 miles an hour entering the curve, 51 miles an hour over the speed limit for that section of track.
