In the latest Incident Police say an adult woman was forcibly sexually assaulted in grant circle Near Northwest sometime between 2 00 and 4 00 sunday morning. Investigators have little identifying information to go on but say the man may have been her uber driver behind the wheel of a white sports car with black leather seats. There have been multiple other accusations of assault against uber drivers in our area this summer including one in arlington in august. He drives her back to the location, but he will not allow her to get out of the car and he starts groping her. Reporter another which ended in the driver being acquitted of all charges. In each case uber says it cooperates with police to assist in their investigation citing the data it keeps on displays on drivers in their cars, pictures and routes taken. Critics say the Fast Growing Company needs to do more. Catching the bad guy on the back end is of no use whatsoever to the passenger. Reporter dave sutton represents a Public Safety group affiliated with the taxi and limo industry which says ubers background checks for drivers dont meet industry standard. Ubers background checks have become notorious. They dont background check drivers with criminal background checks conducted by Law Enforcement or using fingerprinting. Reporter uber says no background economic is perfect, but theyre constantly work check on perfect, but theyre constantly working to improve safety and on the streets of d. C. This latest one took place after 8 p. M. Friday at the lover run park and police say a man grabbed and groped a woman as she was holding onto her 3yearold daughter. That woman screamed and the attacker ran off. This is the sixth such attack in arlington park. Others have happened at highland street in North Arlington and 15 street near the courthouse. In each case the victim screamed and scared the attacker away. The violent summer thats been plaguing d. C. Did not take a break over the weekend. Four more people were killed including a man stabbed to death in a basketball game in northeast yesterday. That brings the total homicides in d. C. This year to 43 up 41 since last year. Reporter police announced the arrest today, but witnesses say they had the suspect in custody since yesterday and she never left the scene. I hear this big boom. I see her get out of the car and i go over to her and she goes straight down and i see this man pinned under the car. Reporter she and her aunt called 911. She checked for a pulse but couldnt find it. His stomach wasnt moving. There was no breath in him. I checked his pulse and he was gone. She was screaming his name is all i can remember. Reporter police say the woman intentionally ran over her husband after they had a fight. The two lived on this block. We dont know how long they lived here, but police tell wusa9 this is not a home they were called to. Most of the neighbors didnt know them and never saw anything out of the ordinary. Traffic had to be stopped for a while so a medical chopper could get there and take the officer to the hospital. New information tonight in a Fairfax County shooting, police say a man was shot outside a fight after a home in centreville. Officers found the gunman inside the home. For a time he refused to come out. Eventually a trained negotiator convinced him to surrender. He was the hurt. The victim has serious injuries, but is expected to stay alive. Serviceman Spencer Stone and Alek Skarlatos arrived at the base for further medical treatment. They received the french medal of honor at the palace in paris.
