Witnesses described several men ran through here, exchanging gunfire as children were playing on this popular playground. This is a place where you should have a happy face, not be shielding children from bullets. Reporter the Columbia Rec Center playground was happy until children and parents heard what they first othought were fireworks. Then this mother, who didnt want to be identified, came to a terrifying realization. I think two or three young men, and i saw a gun, which is when i realized it was not fireworks. Reporter she heard half a dozen gunshots and everyone started scattering. There were babies all over the park. We didnt even know where to run. Reporter she said when the shots rang out, parents grabbed any child they could reach, running behind cover, behind trees, bushing and sheds. You dont expect to run and collect children on a day at a park because you are running from gun shots. Repo who often comes with her two young kids to the park said officers never questioned them on what they saw, their preps was slow and lacking. Their presence was slow and lacking. Police say by the time Kevin Sutherland and matthew spires crossed paths, his life was already spiraling out of control, fueled partially by the use of the dangerous synthetic drugs now plaguing the district. Charging documents describe a bloody, brutal splaying on the streets of d. C. Saturday. 18yearold jasper spires slabbed and slashed Kevin Sutherland more than 30 times after taking his cell phone, the kind of ragefueled Violence Police link to pcp like synthetic drugs. Debris rained down over a wide area of marshes and rice fields, a piece landed against a mobile home. Cliff camden was driving in the area when it happened. I saw a flash and looked up. It was right in front of me. As soon as i saw it was an explosion, a lot of black smoke, debris falling reporter the National Transportation safety board says that two people on the civilian plane did not survive.
