Reporter luc sadness hung or the 1800 block of lukens avenue in willow grove tuesday night as a neighborhood came to grips with the death of fouryearold tajir smith and the arrest his mother and her boyfriend. Im a grandmother and a mother. I just cant imagine the horror. I cant. Its senseless killing of a fouryearold. The child supposedly spilled career cree err yall. Reporter 19yearold lisa smith and 25yearold keith king charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault wonder crimes in the beating death of the little boy after he spilled his breakfast cereal at their home which police described as deplorable and crawling with roaches. Severely punished and beaten and then burned in a shower. Reporter investigators say king and smith discipline the child after the cereal incident and made him lie down on the b bed. His clothes were removed. The child was punched and struck repeatedly with a sandal after smith claimed the boy was quote sneaky, imprints were found on the childs body. Some footwear was used. We have recovered things from the scene. Honestly, id like to see people that beat their kids to death get debtee beat to death. I know thats the christian thing to say but. When the child stopped breathing they dressed him up and took him outside where they couldnt cock add story saying he had passed out after coming back from the stores with smith. The coroner found old injuries including rib fractures on the boys body. Unfortunately, it looks like the child, um, didnt go through this the first time last night. Reporter the District Attorney says these charges could be upgraded when the medical examiner finishes his report. Both defendants are being held on half a Million Dollars bail each. He faces accusations of using taxpayer money to settle a Sexual Misconduct complaint. So says a report in the New York Times. The report says, a former aid refused his romantic advances. Reporter representative pat meehan of the seventh Congressional District says he did not sexually harass a former female aid who worked for him for some time. He says that he did not have a romantic interest in her. And he says that the thousands of dollars taxpayers paid her when she left his office was severance, not a settlement. The New York Times reported meehan used thousands of dollars in taxpayer money to settle a misconduct complaint after a former aid accused of him of making unwanted romantic advances to her. Meehan denies it. So did you have romantic feelings for this woman. I did not have romantic feelings. I was relationship that was a very professional relationship. Reporter according to the times, meehan grew hostile when the former aid rejected his romantic interest in her. Meehan says did he not. The newspaper reported that romantic interest was expressed to the decades younger former aid both in person and by handwritten letter by meehan. Did you have to talk to your wife about this . Did she know about this prior to this thing breaking . Police sources telling us four people are hurt including two young teens after a shooting. Police got this call about an hour ago to cecil b. Moore and 24th street. She had to throw her infant daughter from a window to save her from the raging fire. Then she jumped. Who caught them both . Well heres Bill Anderson for goodness sake. As im pulling up i heard a voice said help help. I was with my cousin. We heard the voice and stopped the car i jump out and my neighbors came running out as im walking up to my door and it was like thats your house. Your house is on fire thats your wife. Reporter think about it for a second. Your mother of a newborn. You smell smoke and then realize theres a fire and theres no way to get out of the house exempt the second floor window. What do you do . I hung her out so she could breathe. Somebody help my baby. Come help my baby. He ran up and he was standing right here. Thats when i count to do three. I let her go. Looking at the damage on the first floor of the house, you can see that faith mal doughed inned in doughs decision to drop her newborn daughter out of the out the second floor window and hope a caught her was her only option it had to be done quickly because moments later, she was overcome by smoke. But even so, the family knows that neighbors who stepped up during the fire and have continued with donations and support are live saving gift. Were together and its blessing. The nearly 56 Minute Police body cam video shows the dramatic arrest of dr. James kauffman outside his Egg Harbor Township office in the Early Morning hours of june 13th of last year. Listen. Reporter never before seen video released by Atlantic County prosecutors shows the nearly half hour long standoff with the linwood endocrinologist armed with a minute millimeter handgun. Drop the weapon. Reporter police were there to arrest the doctor on weapons and objection instruction charges eventually leading to murder charges. For hiring a hit man to kill his wife, 47yearold radio host april kauffman. She was found shot dead inside their home in 2012. Prosecutors say she was threat threatening to divorce her husband and expose an opioid pill mill he was operating with the pagan motorcycle gang. At one point as the detective tells kauffman to keep his hands up he appears to pull a gun and says, im killing myself. Lets talk. Minutes later, in handcuffs he was speaking calmly to investigators before being hoisted into an ambulance. Happening right now in philadelphia, the city does discussing plans to become the first us city the first one to allow supervised drug injection sites. It says as a way to combat the opioid epidemic. City officials made the announcement today saying theyre looking for outside operators to establish one or more of these places Safe Injection Sites where users can shoot up heroin under the supervision of a doctor who then can administer an antidote if necessary. Officials claim the highly controversial idea is a lifesaving strategy in pathway to treatment. Ns new Governor Phil Murphy signed on the dotted line ordering review of the states medical marijuana program. During the next 60 days states departments of health and board of medical examiners will look over the program. Right now 15,000 of new jerseys 9 million residents are in that program. Like toothbrush, toothpaste. A bum of different shirts some of them are still brand new have tags on them. Reporter clothing and supplies are mostly donated by friends and family why others donte money toward naming the homeless gofundme page. Its just really relieving and overwhelming that we got so much support. Reporter so far lauren has interviewed six people. It just shows theyre real person and they went through some stuff just like everybody does report roar chaz is known for finding stray cats a new home. Usually when you think homeless, like, a lot of negative stereotypes come to mind.
