There had been some concern, she could possibly lose one of her legs after she found this gun and fired that shot. And her grandmother is now facing charges for what she did after the shooting. Police say this 64yearold grandmother will face charges of endangering the welfare of a child and tampering with evidence after her threeyearold granddaughter picked up her fathers gun and shot herself in the leg. It happened on south wilton street around noon when parks responded to a case of someone breeding. The grandmother allegedly hid the gun before help arrived medics were trying to determine what happened inside the house, the grandmother is not helping at this point. Telling us she didnt know what had occurred. The father of the child who owns the gun had gone to work and left the gun with the grandmother. Who was supposed to to put it in a closest and secure it which obviously did not happen its not clear if the other two adults in the house were aware a gun was involved. Police say the grandmother came clean about the weapon but they also say precious time was wasted as paramedics tried to figure out what was causing the bleeding. Its at least the third recent incident in the city where family members are accuse of tampering before paramedics thats just wrong, thats your kid that youre hurting there.
