A raging five alarm fire still showing signs of hot spots. Has investigators still working more than 18 hours later to put it out and finder out what happened. Skyfox knew over the par clay friends nursing home in west chester. The scene of the fire that started before 11 00 last night. Investigators say it was fast moving putting 160 lives in danger. Thats the number of senior residents and staff combined. This evening were told the building is still too unsafe for emergency crews to get inside. But theyre doing their best to make sure everyone is accounted for. So far we know 27 people were treated at three area hospitals and 17 are still under care. The First Responders along with volunteers frankly, um, worked to evacuate help evacuate the residents and the Staff Members at the center. At this point we are style compiling lists and working the lists with the owners of the facility itself and trying to get a solid fix on everybody on all the residents and they have all been accounted or. Reporter during the evacuation people were taken to West Chester University. Most are now in other health facilities. Officials say someone went home with family. No deaths reported so far. And investigators say of course it is too early to talk about a cause. They cant even say or they dont know whether sprinklers went off. Theyre number one priority right now is making sure that everyone got out okay. And the news late this evening is that we might not know that until the beginning of next week. Well what happened here last night gives a new and very powerful definition to the word neighbors. As firefighters doused the smolders wreckage of what was once barclay friends, the remnants of a night of terror sat roadside out front. Nursing home neighbor sandy dee phillips reflected on the site outside her front window late thursday night. I said, oh, my gosh, i just i was just shocked. Reporter wind swept flames engulfed much of the huge facility before the first firefighter cos arrive. And so dee phillips and her neighbors including students from West Chester University raced over bringing clothing to warm the victims. Got blankets around. Some of the residents who were out there in their robes. Their slippers. No coat. No shoes. Reporter what was their demeanor at this point. Theyre demeanor was calm. They are calm. Reporter scores of elderly residents some in ill health had to be moved quickly from the fire scene. They needed a wheelchair and i was like, well, i dont know. I had one in my garage. I ran home and got my wheelchair. Reporter then came the chaos of linking residents to frantic family members. De phillips ran home once again to grab her cell phone. I made phone calls for them to their families to let them know looked up their, you know, sons name, um hooks lived in the area. Called him. Reporter all day friday family members came to the fire scene to reflect on their near loss. Pete pettys 96yearold motherinlaw was inside. She lost everything. Everybody in there lost everything i guess but shes fine. Thats the main thing. Reporter 95yearold lucy stanton got out as well. Her daughter stacey still reliving the phone call saying the place was on fire. Panic. Because you want her to be okay. Reporter on the morning after nearly everyone we met said the same thing. Police make arrest in the murder of a south jersey woman who was killed while she was house sitting. 19yearold Brandon Wilson is charged with the murder of 26yearold shaunique carter. Carter was found beaten to death inside the woodbury home she was watching for friend back in september. At a News Conference today the Gloucester County prosecutor said wilson lived in the home as a foster child back in 2015. Shaunique carters father spoke at that News Conference. Just knowing that my daughter can rest in peace because every sunday i take flowers to her gravesite and first time was hard. So this sunday i getting to tell her good news. Wilson is charged with first degree murder, Second Degree burglary during which a death occurred. Third degree possession of a weapon and other related charg charges.
