Im chris oconnell. Police are investigating whether students were selling brownies laced with pot. Fox 29s Shawnette Wilson live in radnor with the story. Shawnette. Reporter well, police tell us that two children went to the emergency room after getting sick. Were told that they were checked out. They are okay and they have been released. Police say parents told them at least six students got sick. They were vomiting and going in and out of consciousness. Were not sure whats in it. Could be marijuana. Could be something more serious or could be nothing at all. So we want to fine out what is in the brownie. Reporter Radnor Police are sending this brownie to a state police lab to find out what may be in it. A parent told them several kids got sick. They believe after eating brownies at an after school event last night. They believe they became sick at the Radnor High School pep rally for the football team. Also a pasta dinner and they a tribute it to possibly being sickened by brownies that were laced with some type of drug perhaps marijuana. Reporter officers say they were at bryn mawr hospital around 10 00 oclock last night on an unrelated matter when parent approached them. One of the parents of a young girl that apparently ingested something with a controlled substance in it was there for treatment and they notified my officer. Reporter police say the parent told them six children had gotten sick. But only two had come to the emergency room to be check out. Police Say School Officials interviewed about 80 students today. Police are also questioning students. Were not sure at this point what they ingested. Theres speculation its marijuana. We dont know. Reporter now, police say that the school has been sending out letters today letting parents know about the investigation. We also want to stress, again, police say they are not sure at this point what, if anything, is in these brownies. They are also unclear whether the students new exactly what they were buying when they got those brownies. Chris . Shawnette, thanks. Frank rizzo is getting the boot from center city. Well his controversial statue is any way. After months of controversy, that announcement from the city of philadelphia. Fox 29s dave kinchen has been following the months of protests surrounding this polarizing figure. Hes live in center see for us tonight dave . Reporter chris, well we can tell you the city says they got about 4,000 ideas in terms where to move the frank rizzo statue after they asked for input from the public. This all stems from an effort the city says to remake the thomas pain plaza but the reputation frank rizzo has is still generating controversy. The statue of former philadelphia mayor frank rizzo waves at passengers by on friday night in center city but it will eventually officially wave goodbye to the post its manned on the thomas pain plaza for nearly 20 years. Used to call him cisco kid or, you know, two gun blazer type fella. Morris jefferson says rizzo used to patrol his neighborhood as a beat cop and would rise up to become phillys top cop and then a mayor known for having a heavy hand. His methods may have been a little strong and over but, hey, man, upping, got to break eggs. To many africans americans frank rizzo was a racist who profiled black people. Just having the statue there its discrimination because he back then rizzo aint like no black people no way. Council woman at large helen gym got the ball rolling calling for change. I dont think theres any question he was a controversial mayor. He ran on a vote white platform. He put the first africanamerican museum in the country in philadelphia. Jodi was rizzos personal secretary and says his reputation with africanamericans never got a fare shake. If you were at his funeral you saw africanamericans crying their eyes out because he was law and order. He was oppressive to crime. Didnt matter. Reporter city officials said theyre going to work with Art Community members and pick a spot that is feasible. Theyll study the feasibility of several proposals. This car is the clue police in Bristol Township are using tonight to find a man wanted for an attempted luring. Police say yesterday afternoon a tenyearold girl noticed this car was following her after she got off her schoolbus and was walking home. The man said get in the car. Winked at her. She ran. The guy drove off. It happened on glenn rose of a near melinda drive. Police believe this driver is in his 20s. What would you do if you saw a man and a woman in a physical fight . It was happening say right in front of you . Well, a Good Samaritan who was in that exact situation stepped in to help. But his good intentions backfired. Hes now in the hospital with serious injuries. Fox 29s Joanne Pileggi joins us live from hamilton township. Joanne . Reporter hey, lucy. Good evening everyone. Well you may want to think twice about doing the right thing after hearing this story. It all happened along route 40 in hamilton township. A driver sees a woman getting beaten along the side of the road. He jumps out of his car, he tries to intervene and tries to help out and he ends up with critical injuries in the hospital. The whole situation just deteriorated. Reporter deteriorate flood a violent confrontation right here along busy route 40 after a driver witnessed a man an woman in a domestic dispute in hamilton township. Today people are so crazy. You try to help people and thi is the stuff happens. Mary and her neighbors saw the incident unfolding across the road from their apartment complex. Mary watched in horror as the Good Samaritan stopped his car and tried to help. Nonchalant walked over. I dont know if he said something to the gentleman but he didnt move his hands or anything. The guy whopped him and he went down like a soldier. The guy dropped i mean he didnt crumple to his knees he just went backwards like that. Reporter witnesses say the Good Samaritan smack his head on the pavement and didnt move. They called 911. And george snapped cell phone photo of suspect after the incident. Police arrived and arrested the man identified as 24yearold calvin wiggins. He is charged with aggravated assault and possession of marijuana. Others in the complex say its risky getting involved in a situation like this one. All you have to do is call 911. Try and be a hero stuff happens. You see stuff like that you want to help but sometimes its better off because this guy was screaming crazy stuff out there. You never know if he had a gun. You dont know. Reporter police have not released the name of the Good Samaritan. He was listed in Critical Condition in the trauma unit at Atlantic City medical center. An elderly woman is in the hospital tonight after someone robbed and attacked her in the citys fairmount section. The victim targeted right in front of a church. Fox 29s Dave Schratwieser with the latest on the investigation. I got scared. Row moan ma mendez went out for a walk friday morning with her son jose by her side. She wanted company after learning that an 83yearold woman was attacked and robbed outside this church at 22nd and green in fairmount. I asked the lord bless her and take care of her. Nothing happen in the future. Reporter it happened Tuesday Morning just before 11 00 when the victim was attacked during a purse snatching and knocked to the ground. She was rushed to Hahnemann Hospital with a broken hip according to neighbors. We come every day. Nothing ever happened like that. Now you can even go to church. I told cher not go to church in the morning at 7 00 oclock unless somebody takes her. Reporter as disturbing as the attack was police say even more troubling a witness said the suspect a well dressed man in his 30s was inside the chapel of the Divine Love Church moments before the purse snatching. The predatory nature of it youre looking in the church looking to be stalking a victim and you find a victim. Outrageous. Theres nothing you can do. Helpless. Incident comes just weeks after several gun point robberies on the street in the fairmount section. Neighbors are on guard. Its random. You dont know where its going to happen, when its going to happen. Not even church is a sanctuary. I pray to the lord they put him in jail. Not so much for playing video games. But actually creating them. I started learning how to code using something called mit scrap and bakely i University Youtube videos when i got stuck i had my moms help.
