News at 11 00. Tonight at 11 00 Philadelphia Police are on the hunt for a gunman after a little boy is shot. Good evening and thanks for joining us, im dawn timoney. The innocent sixyearold outside with his family on fall night shot in the shoulder in north philadelphia. Brad sattin has the latest. Reporter police are in the process of clearing up the scene. A few hours ago a sixyearold shoulder. Hot in the left hes expected to survive, rushed to the hospital and tonight the search goes on for the gunman. They obviously want to get him off the streets. This all playing out just before 8 oclock at 24th and norris here in north philadelphia. The sixyearold boy outside with his father and brother. That were just a few feet from their home when police say four shots rang out. The boy was hit. He ran inside the house. And the family then realized he was bleeding badly. Police got to the scene pretty quickly, took him to Temple University hospital. Initially the boy was in Critical Condition but has since been upgraded to stable and transferred to Saint Christophers Hospital this all playing out on a beautiful evening, a busy street with kids here. Just across the street is a school playground. A car was also hit with a shot. No one else was hurt. It doesnt appear to be any sort of a shootout here and so police still trying to determine why the gunfire happened. Standing out front of his house minding his own business talking to his father and his brother when the shots rang out and he was obviously struck by stray gunfire. Nobody intentionally shoots a sixyearold. Reporter tonight the search is ongoing for the this gunman. They dont have a good description of him. Police say there are surveillance cameras in the area. They are now scouring them to see if they might lead to some new evidence. Here in north philadelphia, brad sattin, fox 29 news. New tonight, the juice is almost loose. Oj sim ton expected to be a free man this weekend. Simpson eligible for release from a nevada prison beginning sunday following his parole. While his Attorney Says he will live in florida, the states attorney general is saying not so fast. Floridas ag sent a letter to floridas department of corrections saying if simpson is able to live in florida he will be held to the most stringent and secure conditions of supervision. Even though simpson is eligible for released on sunday an exact date for him to be free is not clear. Reporter nine days after Hurricane Maria ravaged puerto rico residents are still begging for help. The situation there is dire. Most areas still dont have power, food or clean water. Tonight there is plenty of support here in philadelphia. Hundreds rallying for puerto rico calling for action. And down at the shore, folks are also trying to help. Fox 29s Joanne Pileggi is in Atlantic City with a very special tribute happening ther this weekend. Reporter a celebrity from puerto rico joining the effort to help raise money for Hurricane Maria victims. Pop star luis fonsi teaming up with the red cross and Caesars Entertainment group. Reporter pop star luis fonsi is called part of the new leadership in latin music. He skyrocketed to the top of the charts with his hit song despacito. A puerto rican native he knows all too well the devastation from category four Hurricane Maria and now hes joining the effort to help hurricane victims. Its a collaborative effort between luis and Caesars Entertainment and all of the guests will have the opportunity to make a direct contribution to the red cross on behalf or the relief efforts. Hes a great singer from puerto rico and hes doing his best to help the Puerto Ricans in the situations like this. Reporter at caesars in a. C. , close to a third of the employees are from puerto rico or have loved ones on the hurricane ravaged island, so this relief effort hits close to home. So, it is a very Close Knit Group that really is trying to make a difference to the residents of puerto rico and those impacted by that devastating maria. Reporter Caesars Entertainment and the red cross teamed up with luis fonsi as he continues his 2017 love and dance world tour in Atlantic City tomorrow night. It provides enormous credibility to the artist to be able to give back to the community that, you know where they grew up and where they became famous. Reporter in addition, caesars Housekeeping Department set up a huge bake sale to help raise money for relief efforts and caesars Parent Company donated 50,000 for direct relief for hurricane victims. A new jersey father is sentenced to 10 years in jail in the death of his threeyearold son. 24yearold david creato learning his fate in Camden County court today. Creato had reported his son brendan missing back in october of 2015. The childs lifeless body was found several hours later in a creek near his Haddon Township home. Prosecutors believe creato killed his little boy so he could continue dating his teenaged girlfriend. Creatos family was at the courthouse today and they do not believe their son is the boys killer. My wife and i and a lot of family and friends still believe in his innocence a hundred percent. Last month creato admitted to depriving brendan of oxygen. He agreed to a degree of aggravated manslaughter in exchange for 10 years behind bars. A violent robbery caught on camera. A store owner is pistol whipped in the face. The armed robber storming a car repair shop in East Lansdowne having no mercy on their helpless victims who were absolutely terrorized by the marked men in hoodies. At first i thought it was just someone joking around. Reporter it was no joke. A quiet friday morning turning into moments of terror when two masked gunmen barged into this Auto Repair Shop in East Lansdowne. The criminals violently throwing the three people inside to the ground. This man, the 67yearold owner pistol whipped blood running down his face. He asked us not to identify him. Men with guns ran through the front door and accosted all of us. He pistol whipped me and i gave him i opened up the drawer and gave him the cash from the business from the daily receipts. Reporter at one point he grabbed a bat and that was the better of swinging. I got a baseball bat. I was afraid the other would shoot them. Reporter another worker repeatedly thrown down. Reporter at one point the gunman were by the opened door in plain view the victims say of a passerby. One [inaudible] the Police Department says patrolman brett hanson passed away today. Authorities say hanson was off duty when his car crashed into a truck on the garden state parkway. That was eight months ago. Hanson underwent several surgeries but never fully recovered. Hanson joined the department back in 2015. He was 28 years bensalem says that block is actually a horse drinking fountain.
