Theyre dressed appropriately, and a lot of people say theyre ready for this cold weather because we had such a winter or fall. We also shot some crews out and about some snow crews ready and just standing by ready to mobilize this weather changes any light snow that does fall they say theyre concerned it could become icy. So theyre ready to treat those potentially icy roads. So on top of the frigid temperatures youve got the possibility of snow in certain parts surrounding dc mapely north of dc and not a lot of people say that, you know, that a lot of people actually say they are ready for this. Three people inside an off campus residence were robbed and assaulted and now police are looking for the suspects. Chris tin leone has the details from college park. Reporter good morning. Were told the crime took place inside this home right here. The second home from the corner, it happened at around a little after 1 00 oclock this morning here on the 8900 block of 36th street just outside of the university of maryland campus. This is what we know so far. Police say that three people were inside that home when this happened. All three them were assaulted. One of them was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. And like we mentioned before, police are search suspect or suspects this mor morning. So if you happen to see, hear or saw anything, few hours ago, again, after 1 00 oclock this morning, youre asked to call Prince Georges County police. In the last week weve uncovered new information that top School Leaders knew that students were graduating without meeting requirements. More than a year ago. Fox5 Lindsay Watts broke this story last june and continues to press for answers for the community. My children, our children, our teachers have been disgraced by what has happened in our School System. Reporter at the most recent school border meeting, parents were furious. When you go to the polls this noveer reporter some calling forutr to resign. Prince georges county schools new about miss m of student records. Reporter this after fox5 uncovered shocking new information. I saw that fox news broke a story that there was an internal audit done by Prince Georges County officials in 2016. Reporter weve told you how a recent state audit found that Prince Georges County students are graduating without meeting requirements and mismanagement of student roars. Turns out the School System performed its own audit a year and a half ago that found these same things. Top management at the School System never mentioned it in the lead up to the state audit. Instead they adamantly denied there was any problem. Back in june, fox5 showed you teachers and staff who said they were pressured to change students grades to make sure they graduated. The staff nose exactly what is happening. So its widespread. R School Board Members to write to the governor saying there was systemic effort to fraudulently boost the graduation rate. A signature achieve many of school ceo dr. Kevin maxwell and part of the reason his contract was renewed for four more years. A yearly compensation package of near half Million Dollars. Maxwell called the Board Members claims politically motivated to try to get rid of him. The false allegations about our Graduation Rates strike at everything that Prince Georges County schools stand for. The allegations that were paid are reckless. When those accusations are made, theyre not about improving the system. Those accusations are made about trying to disrupt and turn over leadership again in Prince Georges County. Reporter but in our most recent interview, we confronted mack well about the School Systems own audit, end admitted he did know in 2016 some students were graduating without meeting requiremts forward with these claims that some students were graduating who shouldnt, you called it all politically motivated but you knew at the time there was something to this. Why didnt you just come forward and present the internal audit findings at that point . Theres a difference between the what and the how. When we do audits and we do those to improve our practices and to get better and again we do a lot of audits. Reporter while the recent state audit found nearly 30 of recent graduates in a sample group either should not have graduated or didnt have the records to show they should have, it did not find there was system wide intimidation or corruption to boost the Graduation Rates. When youre graduating students that dont meet the requirements knowingly that is a definition of wrongdoing. Reporter School Board Member ed burroughs says he stands by his original claims of top down corruption especially as new information keeps coming out. If i refuse to believe those career long educators and these 24 schools all decided to gradua meet the requirements for graduation at the exact same time in the exact same way. The questions and anger from parents isnt going away. You knew the entire time when you were getting up here doing your press release that is you were misleading the public and you were lying. Authorities say theyre investigating about 27 thefts from over the weekend and then another 16 that were reported on Christmas Day. Dont leave them outside so somebody can just walk over to your car, see it inside and give them an opportunity to break in your vehicle. Do you practice what you preach and make resolutions. Lets start with that. Yes, i do. Dive right in. I do make resolutions. I try to keep them i think, you know, my expertise helps me keep them maybe a little bit better than most people. I can share the wealth of that. Heres my problem that i have personally is that i used to make big resolutions and id expect sweeping changes then i wouldnt meet the goals and then i would say to myself, lets just make it a little more focused this year i wouldnt do it make the same ones every y year. I still do it. Im guilty of that. Yes. And trying to i think shoot too high every year. Yes. Thats what most people do. You know the lure of that fresh calendar year is so strong. And weve all maybe eaten a little bit too much over the holidays. So it feels like weve going to big or go home. Got to become completely different people. Weve got to revamp everything. So thats what everybody does. Then boy january 15th everybody is out the door. Exactly. How do we narrow this down or find a focus or type a manageable goal or reachable goal that we really can maintain not just for two weeks but for 12 months. A couple important things. One obviously to be more realistic the grand sweeping changes just not going to work. You will have much more success over a period of five, ten years if each year you did one small change that stuck think about it youve gotten changes over the course of a decade as opposed to none. First start small its the difference between lose 50 pounds versus eat more green vegetable but the key is really specificity of a plan. So so many of us focus on the end result. We a better person. Spend more time with their friends. Resolutions should be about the actual action that youre going to do. Not the end results. Its the difference between limit my restaurant budget to x dollars per week versus save money which is vague. If you just say lose weight that tells you nothing about the man that youre actually going to do. If you say every monday and friday im going to take the stairs up to my office, thats something you can actually focus on. Right. Thats a great example too we do say im going to exercise more and you know it. January 2nd the gyms are pack. By february 2nd theyre empty again. Exactly. Maybe say instead of going to the gym two days week oil go three days week. Small type of stuff. Very small and not something thats so unrealistic youve never done it before and sud suddenly youll do it five times week. If youre not gym person thats okay. Your resolution can be im going to park in the farthest parking spot from my office three days a week and walk that way or im going to take lunch time walk. Accountable is good. If you tell a friend or Family Member heres what im trying to do. Heres thema make it public. That can be helpful, too. Always the key. Then the pressure is on you to make sure you maintain as long as you can. Im throwing in the white flag ive im done. Its funny the first and that you said when we talk about having that holiday eating guilt i think thats why the number one resolution seems to be im going to lose weight in the new year. Always seems to be that way. Should we start thinking about our resolutions maybe before december 20th or so. Yes. We dont get into that rut. I think so. Because a lot of times if we know next year im just going to be, you know, all vegan for whatever, then during those holiday parties we think, its our last hoorah. Ive got to heavy on the cheese dip because this is my last chance. It leads to black and white thinking where youre either binging or youre going crazy with cutting calories and neither of those is sustainable long term for health. Is it ill tap into your psychology background here, is it even feasible for us to reach these goals over that period of time . Because a lot of times when we think look if we say that and i be everything about being nicer person or job goals. If we focus on some of the common ones like somebody saying i want to lose 10 pounds. Yeah. Is that feasible over that, you know, i can lose 5 pounds in couple of months. Can i do it over 12 months . Psychologically are we able to put a year in perspective . We can. As long as we break it down into those actions and heres the thing you can reward yourself along the way. So dont start with the whole year. For the month of january, i want to have green veggies every other day at dinner. And along the way each week, you say, hey, im going to treat myself to x, y. Z probably not fudge but some other little treat to keep yourself accountable. If you expect to make a thing for the whole year somebody says quit smoking, how huge is that . Youre not going to have cigarette the entire year instead say for the first two weeks of january im going cut down to this number of cigarettes and on january 15th im going to do this as a treat for myself. See where it goes. Exactly. Good idea. Instead of loo looking a picture break it down into smaller more matchable goals. Do you know what your resolution is going to be. Highlights on the nose, for lead. Deck clay thai, the chin, the cheek. Where does it stop. You have a little pop of highlight right around the eyes and cheeks and thats so on point. General hucks was running around it was all over the place at the end they tried to tie it altogether so they can make another movie. Stupid. Negativity here. Best performance. Out all the characters ray was the best one in there. Out of all of them. Thats all the time i need because theres no one else to talk about. Ray was the best one. Agree or disagree. I think performances in the film were solid. Everyone does a great job. Adam driver is a great actor. Daysly raisely is great acting the problem the writing and direct the story was taking much i dont understand why fin and rose had to go to that stupid casino sequence. I just didnt understand where the film was going. Nothing really happened of happens. Back to the plot again. If everyone game a best performance worst performance to be given . Oh, wow. Probably mark hamil. Wow. I feel rye he will feel bad saying that i dont think that hamil is bad. I i think its writing what make him look bad. Hahn neverly maybe the performance is fine. But the problem is the direction they take him in i dont like that much that skywalker. Woworse performance. Thats the obvious choice. Entire cast was bad. John boyega was bad. To me, kyla ren awful. He does do it for me as a villain. I mean im going to give to you as spoiler he destroyed his helmet. I mean he doesnt do it for me they want to feel sorry for this guy hes a killer. It didnt work. Hes a bad dude. We talk about the bad. Best thing about the movie was . The action scene with kyla ren and ray and the snoke. Thats all ill say about that the best scene. I agree. I think this film suffers from exactly what rogue one suffer from. You have the scenes that are so incredibly amazing and the star wars universe. Theyre so good. Specifically the darth vader in that hallway and seen hes referring to theyre so good it almost clouds the film. I didnt hate the last jedi. I just didnt love it and as of it sounds like youre liking it less and less. Final thing, we know there will be another one. Yes. Will you go see it question, how kit be better . Here the problem. It will be better because jj abrams is coming back as the director he left after seven. Ryan came in and yj is coming back for nine. At the end of seven i couldnt putt wait for eight. When it comes to star wars theres a certain level of expectations i feel like negativity comes from the highest expectations you going to number eight i felt like the director was looking into the camera and laughing.
