Was confirmation of neal g goresuch to trump and then another big issue tax reform and this will be and he bama care too was a major agenda item that they tried to push forward throughout the year and sucked up a lot of legislative calendar time for that and of course, a lot of foreign crises, afghan, libya, a lot of administration they he have had to grapple with. And how do you narrow this down to five things. When you put this together what are you looking at . Sure i was looking for what wish ited donald trump from other president s especially republican president s and first thing i started with was inauguration over crowd size. Right at the beginning. Sets the tone for what the presidency is like. And after that i looked at firing of fbi director james comey. And the way in which that suggested there may be some sort of executive over reach and that really disrupted some of his relationships with republicans on capitol hill started to get a little nervous. So after that i come to something recent which is donald trump endorsement of roy moore. That of course has put him at odds with most major in the party. Presidency. To trump its a daytoday faiingts for sure vix. As we look ahead to 2018 right now do you see more of the same . Or do you see maybe some of people who are quoted in the article that the president has somewhat grown on job and may take a different fact year two. And i think its going to be much the same as this past year especially with campaign coming up in 2018. Hes not on ballot of course thats not going to stop him getting involved in a lot of races. A lot of combative nature we saw during the Trump Campaign and that no not changed. Hes grown in terms of presidency and dealing with foreign crisis and daytoday of how he handles fighting with media and going after critics that wont change anything. The style has changed when we talk about obamacare failure and seeing difference how involved administration has been with healthcare reform and certainly adjustments. One thing not on anyones list that i think some people put on the list at the start o 2017 was talk of impeachment proceedings with this president. He made it through first year. Democrats or republicans feel differently about that. And the world continues to turn right . Thats a heck of standard when you say one of your biggest accomplishments is that you did not get impeached first year. 2018 will be a big change. Democrats replame the house and right now pushing back they reclaim the house if that changes. To be seen we appreciate you both coming in. Well look ahead to having you back in 2018 as well. Dbone of most defining issues on the hill and throughout the country. This affected hollywood and countless areas of every day life. Joining us by skype ken truck expert on psychology of men. I have a lot of questions to you beyond the metoo movement. You are also creative aging. We looked at the march in january it was defined as partisan movement and now, we see as the year progressed youve got violators aen concerns on both sides of aisle on and offle hill and in and out of hollywood. Tell us about how massive it is and why 207 made this movement a reality. Ronica and tom. This is, this year has been a referendum and debt has come due once again on issue that hurts people and hurts americans. It hurts women who suffered at the hands of men that aus booed power and hurts men that thrown their lives under the the bus. Its a judgment call and moment were looking at ourselves of a world 2017 will reflect in terms of what we left for our sons and daughters. What kind of example have we set . And it begins back to year in review with the president h himself. Ken, why do men do this . You know its not theres not one reason. Some men are tremendously immature and never grown up. Its immaturity and insensitivity and lack of respect they developed for women and theyre silly and immature and stupid. Then you have other end of spectrum men sick and men predators and men who will hurt women and are indifferent to the the pain theyre causing in the world. Its not the same manor same crime and each situation needs to be taken by itself. So how do we make a change. Obviously theres anger and were pointing to the problem, were identifying it. But what can we do to make it stop . Well, you know, we talked about referen dumb and president s first y know when he was called on the matt you know what im ashamed and i apologize to my daughters and all the daughters of this nation. Im going to dedicate myself to facing into this systemic problem in this society and to changing it. Men need to cleanup their acts beginning me and instead what he ahas chosen to do is endorse somebody who is d denying allegations not facing them and not taking responsibility or accountability in any way. So this country has a referendum on are we going to stand up and Pay Attention or turn the other cheek bury it in which case tat will come due later. Ken your book called courageous aging and we appreciate you taking time out of your day to sit down with us. Thank you for the rear he in review. Ive been listening and its very important to take these per smek activities. Thank you nor joining thus morning. The muller investigation well look at what is going on in the past and whats ahead. Youre watching fox5 on the hill. Dont go away. You talk too much welcome back. Were talking about the trump welcome back. Were talking about Trump Administration and muller investigation into russia what happened during 2017. Joining us today in the the hot seat hot seat we have chuck mc calluf with renky law frm and former Senate ConfirmedInspector General for Intelligence Community thats a mouthful, chuck, as we look back on muller investigation here we are end of year. You have two guilty pleas and indictments talk about the the speed that this has traveled on. Youre somebody who has been engrained in Intelligence Committee. Is this faster than we expect. You look at watergate and it took years to get to this point. This is about how long thinks takes its not unreasonable for scope and its high profile. Very detailed. So these things take time. Its you can expect about a year, year and a half for Something Like this. And this is speculative question but its what we do when we think of year in review. Obviously president fired james comey and Different Reasons reported what he said. You know. But i wou he thought comey would not have handled this will. How differently you can say this investigate is handled differently than muller than we may have expected for comey to hand it will when we look back on the year and who was indicted. I think theres little different between director muller and comey in terms of how they would have handled this. And there are as you see almost no leaks whatsoever and they keep a very tight lid on things and again things go as quickly as possible. But, investigations like this you know people care about getting it right. And after its over people tend not to remember how long it took. He want to make sure its right. One of the things we know the only show in town is not just Robert Mueller theyre also investigations going on up at the hill. Senate Intelligence Committee and house Intelligence Committee and chairman devon nunez had to step back and he looked at material on the white house grounds do parallel investigations up on the hill as somebody in your line of work does that help or hurt or concern you because the control over information is not what it is when you got a special counsel investigation underway. In my experience what you have going on in the hill is not actually investigation the same way you have investigation going. Politics. Fbi. Basically they are briefed whoon the fbi is doing and may call in witnesses and do things sort collaterally. Theyre doing Counter Intelligence things and its not really investigation of the same quality and nature and character as the one director muller is doing. Tom asked you about the timeline. Major talking point that the administration put forward is this would be done by 2018. Obviously that did not happen. Was that ever feasible in your mind with that amount of experience or was that effort to tamper down the significance of what were seeing happen. I dont think that was ever feasible. I dont think that might have been Wishful Thinking on behalf of administration. But no its not going to. Two guilty pleas George Papadopoulos and mike flynn of the two of them do you expect to see more. Absolutely. I would expect director muller does not messa round with this hes got a very high speed team there. Right. Chuck mculla we appreciate you coming back and bringing your expertise to the table. Coming up, tax reform. Well talk winners and losers in 2017. Stay with us youre watching fox5 on the hill. [lance] it is absolute chaos out here . Audi will cover your first months lease payment on select models during the season of audi sales event. Welcome back. Were taking a look back at welcome back. Were tag a look back at economy and tax reform 2017 and u. S. Economy strong unemployment noe low and stock market is doing well. And that sound pretty good that part. Big question mark is tax reform throw. It has not been done in years and finally getting done now. Well talk about tax reform with mark avalon our friend here on the hill and personal finance expert too as well. Thank you for up joking us, happy Christmas Eve for you. President trump keeps going around saying his tax cut would be a big beautiful christmas presents and it leaves a lot of people in your industry with question marks and how has it been riding these waves past couple months as this thing has evolved and as questions keep coming about what was in. Tax brackets. Too many, too few, was it like following you. A lot of people were not making Big Decisions based on bill but it was slowing them down causing them to think more as we have more clarity now we see people can mana head and but for people in states like maryland where my practice is and california and new jersey and connecticut states with high income tams and localitys and counselee taxes and high property taxes those people will have a sh shift. Because those are no longer rich from a Tax Deduction standpoint. Because of state and local taxes theyre not deductible as they were in the past. Are people concerned when thinking about living in state of maryland and high tax states and fact middle class tax cuts square in a decade ten years sound like a long time that would be a brutal blow to decade. And i think people operate more for today. Very few people have 11 year plan anyway. So i think people will see that their tax bill has gone up insofar as state an county level. My thought or concern is how many people who were thinking about moving out of this area and moving to florida, how many people now are going to say on the margin heck its too sxentive to live here. Theres only a couple days lift in 2017. Anything you can do this late in the year to prepare for the tax season to come or too late at this point. If you have any stocks that have gone down during the year in taxable account and you can harvest tax loss sell it now and realize a tax loss. That may be something you can do. But with a week out theres not a lot. With how well the economy has done im sure a lot of your clients have losses but down in the year and under awrm our had a horrible year and ge had a horrible decade and those stocks if you own them could be an opportunity to harvest losses. We want you to come back in the future. We know this isnt going away. Thank you, mark avalon. We wanted to look back at images come here. So much of what people consume and talk about crosses over the computers and screens. We wanted to introduce you to Chloe Coleman a photo journalist with the Washington Posts. Thanks for joining us here. Thank you. Youre so far away here. Love that. Take us through this. We wanted to look at some of your work and talk about some of these images because i think sometimes they say a picture speaks 1,000 words this really does. Tell me about the image of donald trump. Well start with this. Im a photo editor at the Washington Post. I saijo i am a journalist but i would like to point out that these photos are by really talentsed photo journalists. This particular image is by Washington Post photographer jabin boxford covering the presidency throughout 2017. Jabin is so talentd yes. If you look that it says right away the relationship of this president with press corps. We felt that is not only one of the ongoing stories of 2017 but one of the most important stories. Great shot what else do you have. Paul ryan is not looking happy. There. This you love its from the post photographer molina. She has been coughing washington politics neary ten years than photo demonstrates intimate moment you can get when covering politics that long and ability to show public a moment they would not necessarily see. I love that the five are not all of President Trump. We get wrapped up so much. Walk us through the three. This photo by Washington Post photographer caroline convenient hoden and maryland spring shooting was wounded and i think it really demonstrates importance of staying past breaking news moment and getting in with the people and seeing how their lives are affected. All right. And the next one is circus. Yes this is from one of the last shows of the ringling brothers Michael Williamson was covering that story throughout the year. He was not sure if we would get that moment that said end of circus and he got this with the line timer. And finally well have emotional picture and i looked at this earlier its striking. Whats the stour whyy behind this. I found everyone reaction to these boys and their home and family members were losting in fighting with isis and i think emotion on faces was so universal. Is that the mark of good photograph that it moves and speaks and talks to you even though its statistic. A great photograph makes you feel something for the news. All right. These certainly do. I thank you so much for being with us andtation through the year in five pictures. Photo editor with amazing work and hats off to all the the great photographs and our photographs as well, too. We thank you so much. Were going to be right back we have more for you here on fox5news on the hill. Whatever you were about to do just became whatever youre about to do after you get coffee. When that boat sank that brought him to forefront at national hero. We did two things with this piece. Jackie said we have to have a theme and thought into. It we have a nut cracker. And then for president we put the pt 09 on and theres a funny story that jackie decorated tree in 1961 and it was beautiful.
