Look at that mess. Now, no injuries. This is 95 southbound prior to route 100. Owl sawed lanes closed. Tractor trailer was carrying clothing, again new york city injuries reported and all flames under control. Still seeing smoke in that area and as you can see on the of the screen, quite a rubberneck delay on 95 northbound and again all southbound traffic being forced to divert 895. If you have a better work around coming from the Baltimore Beltway down toward the capitol beltway avoid 95 southbound at all costs because all of your alternates are backing up as well. It will take some time to clean that up for sure. Thanks for the update. Well keep a check on it as well 9 02 44 of the lets check our top stories on this friday the big story at 9 00 Hurricane Maria this storm brushed past turks and caicos. Regaining strength with winds of 125 miles per hour. The storms latest path has it veering into the open atlantic that means good news here no threat to the united states. But some areas along the east coast could still see dangerous surf even into next week. Meanwhile, puerto rico is trying to recover from marias devastation. Most of the island still without power. Several towns remain underwater and two people are now confirmed dead. That brings marias death toll across the carribbean to at least 19. The situaon puerto rico some people are thinking about leaving the island, and they might actually be able to do that very soon. Airlines are expected to resume flights in around and out of the u. S. Territory as soon as today. Here locally this morning red cross volunteers in Northern Virginia will be deploying to puerto rico and the us Virgin Islands. Now lets get to another tragedy this morning. The search for survivors enters fourth day in mexico city following tuesday major earthquake. American crews are on the scene helping with recovery efforts. Officials say 60 people have been rescued so far but the death toll does continue to rise. The new total this morning is 273 people confirm dead and we have update on that desperate attempt to save 12yearold girl buried under a collapsed school. Search crews now say all students and teachers have been accounted for. That person they thought was a child is believed to be a school custodian. The east coast and carribbean have taken a pounding in the past month from one storm after another. Hurricane surges and flood waters have caused untold damage and now a alarming article in the Rolling Stone magazine lays out a disturbing scenario of a future d. C. Hit hard by a hurricane and unable to cope. So we wanted to know, could Something Like these images that youre seeing happen to us right here in the nations capitol . Earlier this morning, we had Sandra Knight with the center for disaster resilience at the university of maryland on our show. And we asked her what are the odds that we would experience a significant weather event right here in our area . Take listen. We have a threat here and its the one in 100 year flood is, s not very good standard really had you think about the capitol has been here for couple hundred years and we want to be here a couple hundred more. If it can happen in one in 100 years then its certainly going to happen. The corps of engineers has studied plan for the area but having that kind of comprehensive look but we from the 2006 rainfall event that we flooded the federal triangle area. So the archive buildings. Irs, several buildings. Well, she went on to say the likelihood of a category five hurricane in d. C. Is low. It the main concern would be a rainstorm a slow and big storm that would cause the most potential damage to d. C. And so if you can just imagine those aerials not being over wherever houston, puerto rico but instead the capital grounds pretty frightening psychologically and physically to see those images in the seat of power in the nations cap capitol. And think about you see what happened in houston and the surrounding areas. The flooding was out in the suburbs because usually you dont think in an area like houston that the suburbs are going to have problems. You can imagine that here where were talking about way out. Entire dmv, right exactly. The beltway. Its insane. Look what super storm sandy did. That wasnt tech neck klee a hurricane. Right. It doesnt have to be cat five. Right. To be catastrophic. Something sitting and just pounding and rain that would come down with our rivers and our poor levee system or what have you. Lets hope that that doesnt happen. Its all like worse case scenario. Good to be prepared. Absolutely. All right. Thank you allison. 9 08 is the time. Developing this morning were learning disturbing details about vicious attack that happened in frederick, maryland. A maryland teenager was ripped by two other teens and theyre now behind bars. Police may have reason to believe that the victims sister actually organized the entire thing. Fox5s Melanie Alnwick is live from frederick this morning with the very latest in this story. Mel . Reporter good morning. Just upsetting on so many le levels. Theres so many layers to this story. Right off the top, we can tell you, that immigrations and Customs Enforcement has begun deportation proceedings against one of the suspects. The Victim Told Police she recognized the two men who raped her as fellow students from Frederick High School and says they were known to be involved in gang activity. Take look at pictures charging documents say 19yearold Victor Gonzales 17yearold edgar Chi Companies hernandez an third suspect wearing a mask ambush the 18yearold victim as she was walking to her apartment on the morning of september 2nd and they told her that her sister told them to do it. The teen said suspects cut her with a knife, pulled her hair, dragged her to vehicle and drove her to an Apartment Building in the area. She says she was raped by the two for several hours while the third masked suspect recorded it on cell phone. Even more disturbing, a according to court documents, police are investigating if the 13yearold sister was involved. Police found messages from her account on instagram planning the attack. Even offering to show her sisters boyfriend video of the attack in exchange for quote one night of pleasure. Now during police interviews, the 13yearold denied involvement in this and said that someone else is using her Instagram Account in her name or has created fake Instagram Accounts with her nam Victor Gonzales guiterrez we can tell you that again ice has begun deportation proceedings against him. Live in frederick, Melanie Alnwick, fox5 local news. Mel you did mention that ice is now involved in this because of the 19yearold. You got any other further information on that . Reporter well whats interesting here is that this is not the First Contact that ice has had with guiterrez. Search wal were told he was arrested back in april on a failure to obey charge. At that point he came to the attention of Customs Officials and he was able to post bond at that point in front of an ice judge. He had not yet been back for those deportation proceedings. But ice says for sure he will be back again on deportation issues on this. We shall tell you we also asked the question about the 17yearold in this case as well. Ice had no information on that guy but we are told hes being charged as an adult. Another disturbing part of this, the involvement of 13yearold sister. I heard you say that shes denying involvement in this now, but theyre stale investigating her . Reporter they are still investigating it. No charges at this point. And so it real sal question of how much did she know . She did tell detectives she knew that one suspect edgar the 17yearold and that he had tried to make contact with her and be friend her through her older sister. So she did know them. They werent completely unknown to her. The question is, really, how deeply was she involved in this and that is still up to detectives to try to figure out. All right. Melanie alnwick reporting there. Thank you, mel. 9 11 is the time right now. Lets switch gears and talk politics. The Trump Administration dialing up the pressure on north korea with a new round of economic sanctions. This comes after north korea dictator kim jongun called the president dee ranged and his country is threatening to test a nuke Hydrogen Bomb in the pacific. New war of words broken out between the two international leaders. Earlier president called una mad man who doesnt mind starve organize killing his people. And as tensions continue to escalate the president is now going after Funding Sources for kim junk ups regime. Personal attacks lobbed back and following between President Trump and north korean dick tither kim jongun reached a new level. Kim called trump dee ranged. Trump calls kim rocket man and he is backing that up with new sanctions. Our new executive order will cut off sources of revenue that fund north koreas efforts to develop the deadliest weapons known to human kind. That followed trumps tough talk on north korea this week at the united nations. Kim responded with a statement, whatever trump might have expected, he will face results beyond his expectation. I will surely and definitely tame the mentally dee ranged u. S. Dotard with fire. And there are north may be on the search of another Missile Launch or nuclear test. The new us sanctions though will try to make it more difficult for the kim regime going after anyone carrying out trade with north korea. This new executive enables treasury to freeze assets of anyone conducting significant trade in goods, services or technology with north korea. But there may be a larger question here amidst all of the heated rhetoric. Will any of it really make a difference . Kim is undeterred by trump. He is scared of the chinese. They have to act. Whatever trump says on the stage the un doesnt matter to kim jongun. His focus is on the Chinese Government and the help he needs from them. But there are some signs now that china may be backing the us position imposing new sanctions of their own against north ko korea. Frightening times to say the least. Unnerving. It really is. You dont really know what is real and and what is rhetoric. Want is rhetoric. New questions about football safety this morning after doctors confirm former patriot star and convicted killer Aaron Hernandez had the brain disease cte. His family is taking action and well have details coming up. Plus marylands governor wants to cut the congestion on some of the d. C. Areas busiest roads and so do we. But its a plan good to be true fox5s bob barnard has the details coming up next here on good day d. C. Shawn evans its 6 am. 40 million americans are waking up to a gillette shave. Im mark herring, candidate for attorney general, and i sponsored this ad. 9 17. The latest on the breaking news were tracking out of howard county, maryland. This is earlier tractor trailer fire now under control. All southbound lanes of 95 prior to 100 remain shut down for clean up. The good news, no injuries reported at this crash scene and tractor trailer was carrying some clothing there. It looks like right now they are allowing traffic to squeeze by on that left shoulder. I know there was a huge backup of people stuck between 895 where you were force toddy tour and 100. Well keep updated on those but right now huge delays 95 southbound and well stick with traffic right now. Some good news for maryland drivers and that could be on the way. Yesterday governor larry hogan announced new plan to ease congestion on three major state highways. Its a 9 billion plan that will keep things moving on our bob barnard is live on the beltway in prince georges county. Bob barnard, what are you seeing out on the roads . Tell me about this plan. Reporter much better here than up on 95. I will tell you this is something that the governor says will come over time if they can get private companies to help with the fin financing. Public private partnership. What they actually want to do is add two lanes to the inner loop. Two lanes to the outer loop, the entire maryland stretch from we can put map up there for you. Showing from you the American Legion bridge all the way around east and south to the Woodrow Wilson bridge. Four lanes added to i270 from i70 in frederick all the way down to the beltway. And then also the plan would be for the state to acquire from the federal government the bw parkway and have four extra lanes from baltimore all weight down to the beltway and these would be toll lanes so two lanes on each, you know, the north southbound lanes the inner loop, the outer loop, and again apelike private partnership to ease congestion. Maryland is some of the worst in the nation. Maryland and new york have the worst Traffic Congestion in the nation. Earlier this morning, i had someone riding shotgun with me. Martin dicaro whos wmau transportation reporter and fox5 news contributor. Is this going to happen . In our lifetime or is this pie in the sky campaign talk. The state has set an ambitious plan to begin construction by 2019. So these lanes could be completed next decade. It all depends on what kind of offers they get from the private sector. Because its going to take capital whats known as Public Private partnership to get these three massive highway expansions done. The state does not have 9 billion in tax r for this. It will be private capital and they will get offers. If you look across the river in virginia, we already have an International Company named transurban thats built toll lanes, high speed toll lanes on 95, 495, and will build them on 395. Reporter now, critics will say just like that ball field in the corn field in iowa if you build it, they will come. Critics will say if you build more roadways, theyll be more volume. More people will use it. So will it ultimately help with our commuter headaches in the morning and afternoons . Were in the really sure, guys. Thats the goal of this thing. And again, is this going to be in our lifetime . Is it actually going to happen . Well have to see as martin was telling us, the goal would be to start doing something of this project work in the next two years. And so well have to see, guys. In the meantime, were coping with what we do and remember on some of beltway over in virginia, once the toll lanes end, you bottleneck into the regular lanes of traffic as well. So it helps for while but not ultimately. Right, guys . Yeah. Its interesting that you mention thats correct bob, up i270 as soon as you get passed clarksburg and it starts heading into frederick it already bottlenecks and creates a back up for miles back the other way. So its interesting that even if you do do this, its going still bottleneck. Youll have more cars on the road. More, f it happens. More lanes and then still going to be massive bottleneck at some point. And delays have been terrible in virginia as well. Not just maryland impacted by all of this bad traffic. I would like to say i hope it work but that construction would be major growing pains. All right. In the meantime, maybe well be retired in florida or arizona by then. [ laughter ] yes. Exactly. That sounds nice. Buy that lottery tick, bob. Thanks, bob. All right. 9 21 on oh friday morning. Can weet friday. Hallelujah. Amen. And its pay day. Double high five. Double high five. Hands up. Let me just, the reason i want to mention marie y we were concerned it might get into our area. It looks like it will stay out to sea thats great news well sim packets along the beaches like smell rip tides and some gusty winds and perhaps erosion. Lets head over to wisdom now. Hey, wis. All right. Thank you very much. Next guest two women with drastically different jobs coming together for great cause. What is sitting u. S. Congresswoman hailing from the Virgin Islands. The other is a actor tress you might known her best as charlie on queen sugar. Theyre in town for the annual Congressional Black Caucus happening this weekend first they join us live right here in the loft to talk about the event and whats happening in the carribbean this morning. Good morning to you both. Good morning. Congresswoman mass coat. Don leanne gardner. Thank you for coming in. We appreciate your time. First i want to start off talking about whats happening in the Virgin Islands and in the carribbean its devastating. Its one after another. Yeah its awful. Thank you. Thank you for being concerned. The entire carribbean region is gone right now. Particularly the eastern part and were really looking at ways on how to do we our rebuilding. How do we recreate ourselves . All of our infrastructure has been removed. Hospitals, schools, everything. And were really now still just trying to come out of the shock of it and the rubble and, um, well start the rebuilding. Just as we always v weary silent people. Were strong people. And thats what its going to be about. Right. Its hard for us. We talked about this when Something Like this happens in the carribbean. Where do you even begin . I mean youve been through this before. Where do you even begin when everything is pretty much wiped out . When everything is wild out, the leadership has to encourage people you get a lot of people young people who are in the states who come back home with the skill sets, engineers, architects, doctors, just you wouldnt be surprised at the amount of people tt right on the ground. Theyre willing to work. Willing to roll up their sleeves. We pull away the rubble clean things up and we start all over again. Gotcha. Were wishing for the best for the people of the carribbean. Thank you. So were hoping for the best in that situation. Now miss gardner talk about how the both of you are here for the cbc and now you actually connect. Theres an event happening around plaque farmers, and absolutely coincides with the this theme our show. Queen sugar. Queen sugar. Absolute. The show takes place in louisiana and both in new orleans and royal louisiana and its around three siblings who come together after their father passes and have to deal with a struggling ailing sugar cane family of so the themes of Economic Empowerment and black farmers are very very strong in our show. Right. At the cbc war some of the things you want to go down and talk about at the cbc in regards to this particular issue and what will people take away from it. Listen i sit on the committee umhmm. And i believe that black people have really built the wealth of this country on farming. We were the original farmers here. We built so much of this this nations wealth, and i think its important for us to see the not just about growing things. Its not just about the actual physical act. Its finance much its econ economics. Its marketing. And theres opportunities there for our young people in this area. And we want to begin to have that discussion not just about rural farming but urban farming as well. So many food desserts are in our country, and its going to take young people stepping back into this field to really make an impact. All right i want to switch gears and talk about the show because its a big hit on the own network. Its a huge i watch the show. Im a little behind. But i watch it. I see what youre going. Theres time to we come back in two weeks. Charlie and her family got real drama on that show. The brother with the letter. Yes. Wait. Have t charily found out about the letter. Yes, she has. You do have to catch up. I do have to catch up. What happened is charlie comes back to help, you know, run the business, but the brother eventually got this letter from the dad saying he was leaving everything pretty much to the brother. Thats right. And charlie and the rest of the family is toned find out about which im behind. They already found out. Thats right. Are you surprised by the success of the show . You know, it was an experiment actually. The show, we really didnt know how how it was going to be received. It was definitely an ambitious undertaking. It was a bit of a risk in terms of the kind of pace that we were interested in. The kind of, um, the kind of lukes sewer rating in peoples characters and stories and lives, and i dont think, you know, wed seen black folks on a farm before. Right. Thats a pretty radical thing. Yeah. To put black folks on, you know, a beautiful land and just film it. But i think thats part of why did it so well we were seeing, you know, people of color in ways that we hadnt. We were spendin and intimate nature and i think we were seeing ourselves reflected back. Right. Dealing with controversial issues. Theres an issue where your son on the show and Police Brutality if you will. Ya. I think communities as a huge part of the show. And everything that we talk about theyre real life things. I dont think theres anything we go in worry trying to be controversial. Were really just talking about things that people deal with in our communities. Right. And we do it in ways that are layered and dimensional. So i think the goal is never to sort of have a very special moment on queen sugar but to include the realities we face the things we sit around and talk about at our dinner tables and things we deal with in our lives. Gotcha. Congresswoman, thank you very much. Thank you so much. Again were praying for the people in the carribbean as w well. And thank you miss gardner. You have time to get caught up. Two weeks until the new season premieres. I got plenty of time to get caught up and see whats going on with charlie and evident rest of the family. The panel will be Convention Center from two to 4 00 today. Thank you both for coming in and talking with us. Lets get back over to the couch right now. Thank you so much wisdom. This is a film call coming from Amazon Studios and ben stiller as you saw in that scene is worried about money and comparing himself to his colleagues and he looks at their lives and this guy has this. This guy has that. I think we all do that social media wise. We look at peoples lives and we can make comparisons. We almost forget to realize how great our lives are and hes married, he has a beautiful son, he has great wife, and he just for gets all thee things because he finds himself comparing himself all the time. I spoke to imbue shooting this film. His wife in the film jenna fisher we know as pam from the office i spoke to her kind of about whether or not she compares herself and her career to other actresses one of the interesting things about this film mike white the director did he has ben stiller doing a voice over the entire i i kind of wanted to know if that voice over translates what were seeing from him on screen. Watch this. At night my mind drifted back to college. So many friends have become successful. Craig fisher worked for the white house. Jason hatfield had his own hedge fund. Billy sold his tech company at 40. What do i have . I work for a nonprofit. I have nothing to show for it. So many elements especially the voice over. Do you do record the voice over at end of the production or are you actually thinking about that those lines in moments we just see you on screen. Thats good question, because originally the voice over was written it was a parade a third person. It wasnt brad. And but it was written throughout the script and so that was something i had never actually dealt with as an actor to be, hooks a scene and the voice over saying what youre thinking you never have that in script. So i was actually trying to to think of it as much as possible because it nose. Then broad thought of this and then brad thought of this. I did a lot of this. [ laughter ] sometimes they would read the voice over off camera but then we stopped doing that after awhile, too, because it was just it was too much. So, yeah, n interesting question. We tried differently. We tried one version, you were reading the voice over. Yeah. Little bit. Did you ever do it . I recorded the whole thing in like hotel room. Right. I recorded the whole thing in hotel room we were shooting also written in third person. And then mike went back and changed it to the first person to brad speaking about himself as opposed to brad talking about somebody else. Its interesting that we compre ourselves and compete with other people in our minds. Umhmm. As an actor is that hard not to do . I mean obviously you saw amazing success with the office. Yeah. Do you find yourself like comparing your career and competing in your mind . Um, its funny, because on daily basis, my mind runs a lot like brads. But, um, professionally i am actually in the sense that, um, all i ever wanted was i mean all i ever wanted, all i ever wanted was to be on like a long running hit Television Ensemble comedy, and then it happened. So like all my dreams came true. And im not a person whose like now what do i need . I need to be bigger. I need to do more. I need to be movie star. None of that has ever playinged me, so to me now i feel like my life is just gravy. And its just great and i feel so pleased by the doors that opened for me and the people i get to work with and the material i get to do. I id be really sad if i never got to act again. In which case you would just find me acting my heart out in some regional theater somewhere because i have to act. Im an actress. All right. So the movie brad status opens up today in the d. C. Area and ill have more coming up later on next week. Im out here in la to talk to the coast of blade runner. Ill talk live on monday morning. Have wonderful day. Back to you guys in the studio. Thank you kevin. I know you got to run. Did you like the movie . Yeah. Its actually really interesting. Makes you think about how you compare yourself. I think we all do it. Yeah. I agree. Absolutely. Wake up call to the idea of like you have to know that you do have good life and comparing yourself to others you do end know what theyre going through. Its interesting. All in perspective. Instagram is. Of the best of everyones life. You cant get caught in that tunnel. Social media is only half of someones life. Theyre not posting their arguments and their problems. Theyre opening their happiness. Actually that is what i post on instagram. I get what youre saying. Bye see you later v good weekend. [ laughter ] brad status in theaters right now. All right. 9 49 is the time. Coming up next part one of our true crime friday. Killer instinct host chris hen zone joins us live with sneak peek at season three of his hit show. Well be rye back. At ikea, we believe that for every busy day there should be a cozy dream bedroom. That you can find the comfort youre looking for at a price youve been waiting for. That the cost of a good nights sleep shouldnt keep you up at night. And we believe. That cozy should never be costly. As we take a live look outside as we head into the weekend on this fabulous friday. I think of this whole thing with Governor Hogan and 270 and the express lanes. You are fired up about it. Im a little fired up. Yall know how it is around here on the bell way. Any time of day. Any time of day. So think about. I know weve said this already. Think about this. Not any time of day w we come in to work its just fine. Youre right. Allison its just fine. Me and a couple police officers. Any normal time of day. But on a normal time of day, that beltway is packed. Yeah. Its pack. We had huge delays just this morning. For no reason. Think about this. When you add in rain, snow, a car accident, anything like that, so an accident on the side. People are l looking. An accident on the other side of the road. Peel looking. Youll have all that and then the bottleneck. Construction on top of that. It sounds like a great idea on paper but i dont know. Im not sold good i really only think the true answer has to be in somehow changing peoples mindset we have to find away for people to carpool together. Yes. To take more mass transit. Right. The only answer is less cars on the road. Thats the only way. Because that really is the only thing that solves it. I dont know how we go about doing that. We grow so much in our area. As you move out to the suburbs people dont like to carpool because they dont like to have to depend on someone else. You dont like mass transit because you have ill tell you today there was crash at Fairfax County parkway on 95 northbound the main lanes jammed with over an hour delay. Hov lanes were wide open that speaks to hollys point if more people were car pooling theyd be moving along a lot better. Also less pro creation. Less people on the planet. Thats a whole thats another conversation. Im just trying to think of real solutions. Real solutions. Real solutions. You start getting out into the suburbs, way out into the sticks where i live, carpooling is really not an option. And mass transit is not an option. You got to depend you have drive to mass transit. Thats the problem. You can move closer into civilization. You start tal talking about e money. Were getting into a whole other territory. Getting philosophical now. We better move on. All right. So we have great show coming up for 10 00 much its like everywhere you look theres stars. Newsmakers around here. Latoya luckett is going to join us in the 10 00 oclock. Because in his new book the new England Patriots quarterback says even the sun cant get to him. Since hes immune to sunburns because he drinks so much water. New book called the tb12 method has a lot of advice from the pro athlete. Brady says he drinks two and a half gallons of water a day and no longer suffers sunburns despite his fair skin. The five time assume per bowl champ suggests that readers buy his line up electrolyte drops for their own water. Keep in mine brady is not a doctor and the cdc recommends using sunscreen and staying in the shade to burn. The book details bradys very strict diet. No coffee, hardly any dairy, a little bit of salt and every once in while you can have just a little bit of sugar. Thats the, how tom brady gets it done. Those are all my favorite things in life. How many ways are you and tom brady not a like just from that whole thing. Everyone of them. Okay. Easier to name how they are alike. Not at all. Were both super star athletes. Check. Both winners. Very attractive. Thank you erin. Thank you. You see how she did. Both have hot wives. Thank you. Yup holly. We can do this all day. We can do this all day. I think we better move on. Both dilusional. [ laughter ] thats better than the other one. Both cheaters. Thats better than that one. Ooh, who said that yes. Oh okay. We better move on im talking debate gate. Major milestone for one of americas favorite families holly . Den get me in tro trouble. On september 22nd, 1987, 30 years ago full house debuted on abc. The iconic family sitcom introduced viewers to one of americas most dei beloved families the tanners. Full of heart warming moments, laughter, learning experiences, creator Jeff Franklin says, that he never would have thought their years later the show would still be a hit. But hairs morey boot full house fuller house premier this past february bringing back the memories as adventures continue in dj tanner fuller shares a home with her sister stephanie and her best friend kimmie who helped raise her three boys. Its kind of a cool twist. Look at kimmie all grown up it takes a at take look these then and now photos of the crew. Thats then and thats now. Has anybody scene fuller house. I have. What did you think . Well did you see both of them the original and when i was kid i used to beg to stay up till am to full house. It was tgif in the height of its coolness when i was little. Compare the two. So because i loved full house so much and it was so close to my heart, i liked fuller house but for me as an adult it doesnt have the same allure full house has. And it didnt have the twins all grown up. Now you can even stay up until 8 00 oclock. Exactly. It doesnt really matter. See how things come full circle holdly. Lets talk about this royal rule of thumb. Prince georges new school says there are no best friends allowed. Instead students are encouraged to make lots of friends to avoid creating feelings of exclusion. So none of the the other kids will be able to claim george as their best friend. One of the other rules if youre having Birthday Party giving out invitations you have to invite every child in the class. Thats not too far from our element row school. Yeah. We had at haydens pre preschool. That is the rule at our school. Its always been that way. It was the rule at the part about the best friend. I dont remember ever announcing your best friend in school. No. Its probably clicks. Just trying to break alcoholics. How do you stop click. First of all i dont think you can i mean, kids are naturally drawn to other kids. You naturally are closer friends with other people than not. Heres the thing. My child is five his best friend changes daily. Right. He doesnt have press conference to announce it much thats his buddy. He may tell you thats his best friend. Hey mom can my best friend come over. Theres no press conference. How would they even know . I do know that later on it gets real. It gets real in second grade when youre not my best friend. One of my kids friends who she shut was best friend you know youre not my best friend, right. Oh yeah i did know. So i mean in theory i get it but theres some things that kids kind of have to work outbreak up clicks. Im all for that. I am too. Im in my mid fours and i have different friends from differ areas m from saying this is my bev friend because i dont want to hurt someone elses feeling. I feel the same way. Current best friend. I was about to say that. I can like how yall are concerned about other peoples feelings. Thats what being human is. You learn to be kind. Thats how you try to be as human being. I that was. I dont know. Exactly. Compassionate, kindness thats just me. Speaking of compassionate and kindness that is perfect segue. The other thing he and tom brady have in common. Lack of compassion and kindsness. All about them. Second time i read this story this morning. Im sorry for you. Finally, heres a little incentive for the infamous woman lets get the prompter going. Known as the mad pooper. Charmin is offering her a year supply of toilet paper if she turns herself in. Good for you charmin. For those of you not familiar is it good . Now like theres going to be like 50 on the mad poopers. Im sorry. Go ahead. That was a little sarcasm in my voice. For those are not familiar with this bizarre case lets fell in caught a jogger pooping in front of their house at least three times over the past several months. Give me break. The woman reportedly has pooped in other yards. And nearby park and by a local walgreens. Police are still trying to identify her. They say she could be charged with indecent exposure and public defecation and being nazi a mug. I dont care your motive. We know better than this. Clearly psychologically not stable. Absolutely. Do you think maybe she has like a medical condition . Then why are you out running . I do think she has medical condition. Im its mental. I did research and Police Confirmed there are pub look restrooms in the area she can use. If its a medical condition i would like to think she can make her way to one of those designated bathrooms. Nobody is letting her off with medical condition. Shes got a condition. Its reuter. Thats what the condition is. I want to know what shes thinking. And nasty. I do. Crazy. Running and shes pooping. [ laughter ] you dont run and poop tame much shes stopping. That all i can picture the poop emoji and i move on. 10 10. Enough poop talk. Lets talk about true crimes. True crime times. To this friday were coming were sitting down who shot biggy and tupac hosts sole dead. From destinys child to life in the lot of we are sitting down with Latoya Luckett. You should have seen her face during the poop story. I really wish we had that, right . [ laughter ] shes coming up next. Sweet 4k tv, mr. Peterson. Did you get fios too . No. Mr. Peterson, fios is a 100 fiber opticnetwork. What does that mean . Think about it. If you got an awesome new car youd put the best gas in it, right. So why hook up your Awesome Technology to anything other than a fiberoptic network . I got to go. Peterson. Petersons wife. Counting on you guys. Your internet deserves the 100 fiberoptic network. And now get our Fastest Internet ever plus tv and phone for just 79. 99 per month. We just moved in about four months ago, but the living rooms pretty blank. Its really nice when clients come in and have done some of their own research. Working with a bassett designer was really easy. Just kind of ties in very well. We love it just kind z2i1vz z16fzery well. Y2i1vy y16fy singer song writer actress and fashionista too that list because grammy award winner Latoya Luckett is hot hot and hot from her songs to her role on green leaf now shes all over these days and this morning right here in the loft. Were so happy to welcome back to the studios Latoya Luckett. Hem low. Thank you raheem duvon was just warming up over there. I wanted to know as a singer first, did you want to just jump in that on it. It was crazy because when he was in the green room he was warming up, and i started yeah. I was like yo i really cant just help it. You can help it. Right. Im so excited for their performance. Im excited for your new project as well. Thank you. Tell us about the single and also the little mini movies. Theyre videos but theyre more than that that you released from y my first single i just rel released called back to life i just released my album as well so you guys can go and get there wherever music is sold. So excited about it. Ive been off the scene for little bit. Right. On the music scene. Youve been focusing on acting. I have and with the videos i wanted to kind of, you know, mick the both together. Right. So i created a threepart series. That stars myself and thomas jones. Its full of love, drama, all kinds its hot and steamy, too. Okay. But a lot of people are showing it love. They really. I love that. You can check that out on vivo, youtube, but its a good one. Its good one to watch. I look forward to that. Thank you. In the meantime can we talk about granny leaf. I loved you on single ladies. You bring a to your roles and then always like the soft heart underneath. I dont think rochelle on green leaf was tempting the bishop have will have soft heart. Can you give us anything about future episodes. You know what i would say keep an eye on her. Yeah. I think thats the best thing. Because you know think i love so much about the character is the mystery. This one. Because you just dont know you can tell theres something there. Right but you dont know what shes up to. Right. So thats what i love the writers are doing a great job with keeping the mystery there because people cant figure it out. I dont think they will hon honestly. Ill watch for that. May i just say though acting with Lynn Whitfield every time i watch the show look i love you on it and i inevitably tweet. I mean if this show doesnt get like 16 emmys then theres definitely a problem. Something is broken. Keith i mean i im on the set with some legends. Right. You know what im saying. Absolutely. People that ive always had a respect for on an off the camera. But to actually like ive caught myself in the scene going, wow right. Shell put those piercing eyes on and youre like okay what just happened . Right. Figure out the lines. Come back, come back. But its such a great cast. Great crew. And i feel pitt alleged. I feel honored to be onset. We all know who watched there will be a showdown between lady may and row kell coming. It has to. So well look forward to that. You just know. You know lady may. I know. Well see what happens with t that. Yes. Any other acting projects in in the pipeline for you . Right now . There are some, you know, things that are, you know lets talk about dion warwick. Yes. Okay. That i think were going to start product on that maybe top of next year. So you play dion warwick. I will be playing her in her biopic. I mean what . Excited. Over the moon. Right. I grew up listening to her. Sure. Shes an icon. And she actually reached out to me. She reach out to my team and asked if i was intereste please. But i this is going to be one that im definitely just going to have to lock down and just focus because you know shes shes i have to do this justice. She has such a distinct singing style that is so well known. She does. As in that role will you be an actor an singer . Yes. Does your voice become di dions. Shes taking me to the studio and making me rerecord the songs so its going to be youll hear my voice for sure. Yeah. She dont play at all. Weve done a few, you know arc few a couple of things like, um, what we call a key find. So shell go in and well set the keys for the songs that to best fit my voice. Because its different. Your voice is different than hers. Im like lady how did you get this note and go here and then. Right. This change and thats why shes an icon. Thats why shes an icon when one we started i wanted to ask you about this your Houston Family and roots with devastation we saw. Is everybody okay . Is okay. As a matter of fact, myself and Robert Glasper and michael cox we held a benefit concert in los angeles that, one, it was awesome to be there, but to see people come together and, you know, stand up and donate to help people in a whole other city, that was so awesome. Right. But, you know, its tough, man. Its going to be its going to take long time to rebuild as were he will. Were hear youre in here. Youre in for you for a cbc event. Yes, i am on behalf of planned parenthood i want to say its important especially for this region theres a governors election coming up that could defund planned parenthood and we cant have that, guys. I for one, um, believe that, one, health care should not be a privilege. It should be for all of us. Right. And i stand with planned parenthood make sure you also go to i stand with pp. Org. Because we got to call our get this thing going. We got to vote. We got to take a stand, guys. Not just a triple threat but political, too. And so beautiful. Latoya, thank you so much. We just moved in about four months ago, the activia probiotic challenge but the living rooms pretty blank. Its really nice when clients come in and have done some of their own research. Working with a bassett designer was really easy. Just kind of ties in very well. We love it our next guest an Emmy Award Winning journalist for proven track record for gaining access to hard to get interviews and hes no stranger to crime investigation, chris hansen is returning to true crimes show Killer Instinct with chris hanson this season hanson finds himself exploring a number of cases that date back to the 90s this morning chris joins us live from new york with a sneak peek at what true crimes fans can expect. From podcast to shows on tv, true crime is where its at right now. Chris . It is holly its interesting because what we do on Killer Instinct is we find cases that perhaps werent wildly reported on when they occur. Sometimes they are cases that took ten, 12 years to solve or cases that Everybody Knows about where people are speaking out for the first time. So we go into the field i dont have a studio the field interviews. We get access. After 36 years of reporting a crime, you know, i figure out a way to get things other folks sometimes cant. And we put these stories together with these incredibles fascinating narratives, and then my team puts together these very cinematic recreations and when you merge all of that you end up with something thats essentially a mini Motion Picture and its very rivetting for viewers. You can never be a good story telling. I always say that. Good story telling really reels the viewer in. But you kind of said this under your breath. I sometimes get things that other people just cant. And then you moved on. But listen, that is your skill. How do you like what are some of your techniques in order to bring thing out in people . Well, look, you know, obviously all the predator investigations and the work we do on crime watch daily helps with that because were in the field. Were working with Law Enforcement all the time and i have never, you know, to get something. Ive always told people if you cant tell me or cant give it to me just help me from being wrong, and i think over the course of 36 years, Law Enforcement has respected that. So its weather i show up for, upping, crime for this show or any other, you know, project im working on, i tend to get access because i treat people with respect even when were talking to criminals. I reason i get in their heads because i listen to what to say. I hate what they do. They may be reprehensible human being but thats not my job at the time. My job is to get in their heads and get the stories. You made mentions a lot of these cases took a long time to solve. All of a sudden it comes together a decade later. Do you ever find when whew going back and do you these stories and talking to the victims family that in putting this altogether later is it somehow cathartic for them or healing for them . I think it is, and you know ive got kids, you know, who are grown now parking and worrying about what could possibly happen to them in high school or driving or college, you know, every parent worries but i approach these thing as parent as brother as a sister and so i think that helps the victims families to, a, agree to talk to us and, b to, open up and really live in the moment i find myself sometimes getting emotional just hearing their stories because im looking at it as a parent or as a sibling, as opposed to just a stone cold journalist. So i think when you do that kind of story telling and you conduct that kind of interview and just listen, i think it makes for much more compelling show. You truly are one of the best in the business, chris. Thank you so much for taking time with us this morning. Looking for to the new season. You can catch Killer Instinct on tuesdays at 9 00 on investigation discovery. Thank you. Youre welcome, chris. Thanks. 10 26 is the time. Last week we sat down with Soledad Obrien to talk about her new true crimes shot biggy and tupac this morning she brought her costar iced t along. Well check in with them coming up next. Right now 10 26 is the time. Were back in a moment. Ralph northam im ralph northam, candidate for governor and i sponsored this ad narrator ed gillespie says dr. Ralph northam doesnt show up . Dr. Ralph northam was an army doctor and a volunteer medical director at a childrens hospice. He passed the virginia law requiring concussion standards for school sports. The smoking ban in restaurants. And dr. Northam is working to connect veterans to good paying jobs in virginia. Ed gillespie is a washington dc corporate lobbyist. He shows up for whoever pays him. They were two of the biggest names in rap music tupac shakur and biggy smalls. They were former friends gunned down in drive by shootings win months of each other in the late 1990s. Its b murders and no one has been arrested or charged in the case. But this weekend, fox is going to air an investigative crimes special call who shot biggy and tupac hosted by rapper actor iced tea and veteran journalist Soledad Obrien. They join us live to talk about their project and this documentary. Good morning to you both. Good to see you. I want to get right to it because i saw a tease where you talk to shug knight from behind bars and he actually thinks tupac is still alive. No he doesnt. But he says it. He says it. Actually, it is as you know, kind of a big rumor more on the internet, that hes alive and living somewhere in cuba. But it is a bunch of rumors about what happened 20 years ago. So i think a big part of what we were trying to do was to dig through a lot of rumors and even things that we went in thinking had happened and figure out what actually happened. I think shug was bsing a bit. You going to shug well enough know hes going say anything to you know, thats just his get down. He also said he never did anything illegal in his whole life. I didnt see that part. If i had seen that part maybe i would have different persp perspective. Not that i want to get involved in any of that. Soledad, when you were here in studio last time you talk about working with iced t and his connections. So ice, let me ask you, when you went into this, did anything change your mind, did you already have some some history, some information about what went on . Well, the reason i got involved was i knew this was a tragedy. I knew both the people. I knew pac better than big but at the same time i knew this didnt have to happen. I just new things started to get out of control and you know i knew this could be a cautionary tale. So the people would never go back down this road. Now, me being a street cat, thinking i know what happened from my area on the street or whatever, almost everything i thought was off. Really . By now im finally actually talking to the actual during the shooting. Or the people that were at quad during the shooting and im getting totally different angle on it you got to watch the show. It will also kind of explain to you why why these murders have been unsolved. So soledad im going to ask you both of this question. What is the going to be the take away from this from the people who watch it i know you just said everything that you thought was different so when im watching this because i remember all this going down but when im watching it and the people who will watch it what is going to be their take away both of you can answer this question. I think theyll understand a lot. Listen, i i think a the lot of people dont realize the friendship that skiff between big and tupac and how that friendship going horribly wrong and why it went wrong led to their deaths. You know, so i think you just learn a lot. I think people all have ideas and theories and internet is full of theories. A lot of it is is just based on nothing. So, again we wanted to make sure that people had the fact also you really understand what happened over the last 20 years that has left these murders unsolved. If you werent there we didnt interview you. If youre not involved or being accused of it, we didnt interview you. Everyone who had accusations thrown at them, weve let them we let them talk. We got to hear their side of the story. Because, you know, theres always two three sides of a story. You know, their side, your side and the truth. Right. Absolutely. Absolutely. [ laughter ] youre absolute right. So look last question. Both of you can answer this as well. Do you think these murders were ever be solved . Yes. For sure. Listen the fbi was following both these guys. People know who killed them. They do. Really . They absolutely do. So yeah. Whats the hold glum we solve some of the murders. Im not going to tell you more than that. Obviously you got to watch. Youve got to watch the show. The question will anyone every go to jail. Okay. Thats the bigger question. But will charges ever be brought . Thats the bigger question. There is so much that has not been released that people know about what happened to those two men, and it was a tragedy. But its also a tragedy the way in which so many things were not followed up on, things were dropped and there was some intention around not solving these murders i think. So well get into all of that on the show. Yeah. Im not going tell you right now for sure. All right. I gotcha. We know. Good i know you do it. Ill watch too because i like both of you and i know you get it done. Ill be watching the next time i see both of you well dawk about this because i will be watching. Ill tivo it too. Well talk. Thank you very much. Soledad obrien. You bet. Iced t. Appreciate it. Who shot biggy and tupac premieres sunday september 24th right here on fox5. I cant wait. Dvr alert. Do you think you know . I think i know. You think you know. Really. Do you think you know. I have no clue. I thought i knew but then any clue now. I think i do. Okay. I dont want to say it because i love living. There is that. [ laughter ] we need you here on the couch. Youre right. I need to be here. All right. [ applause ] see this is why you people needism ds because we can tell you apart. Civil rights leaders. That is former correspondent aussie monday dee during a segment on voter id laws in north carolina. And even if the segment was supposed to be satirical it had real life fallout to resign after that segment he basically admitted he was trying to express voting. This weekend monday dee is in the d. C. Area taking part in new material night at the arlington draft house. First he joins us live in the loft. Its good to see you. Nice to see you. Thank you for having me here. We have to start out with the fact youre a newlywed. I am. Congratulations. Yes. Baboom. Done. Little over a month in. Its going to be a month and on the 27th. On the 27th. Big one month anniversary. Still yeah. All bliss full. It is. We have been together for a few years now, so it was interesting like married life is different though. Theres Something Different about it. Whats the number one difference . Its interesting. Its different how her family treats me now. And my family treats her. Theres a whole, splash better or worse . No, in a good way. In a good way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think its definitely like, you know, Little Things you know now when you have an argument youre like, ill be back later. I dont have a choice. Because i will be back. [ laughter ] because i signed up for that. Right. You also signed up for the new material night at the arlington draft house. Yes. And its funny because you bill it like see how the sausage is made. Which is a weird thing for muslim person to be like lets see how the saw satisfy gets made. I thought we werent supposed to really want to see how the sausage was made. I think its kind of fun because im developing this one person show, and so were performing tonight at the arlington. Theres going to be some other comics also doing new material a lot of the material is new see and i have written and created im writing stuff. Some of the audiences have been doing it for awhile in new york and audiences sort of like to get in on the ground floor, you know, because later, when, you know, when its all done and polish and put together, you know, a hundred bucks a tick. You know what i mean . Yes. Now you good tote see feels good. You get a but its kind of nice to see like how the material sort of evolves and develops over time. Its kind of like seeing a show britt goes to broadway. Right. Its like seeing previews of a show. When youre you get them like discounted prices and you get to see essentially the show but its not completely done y yet. As youre coming up with new material, i mean, how do you know if its funny . Um, i i zen it to people and i say, hey, in this funny. I have people come. Sometimes it isnt. Thats the beauty of it. Sometimes you try stuff. What i love about life theater and performing live in general even stand up is that the audience tells you very quick physical something is funny or not and you gauge it off of that. Sometimes things that you think are funny are not. And sometimes things that you dont realize are funny are actually the funny part of it, and so you can s shape your show and wright it and develop it in the way and that audience interaction is crucial for an artist to develop their material. Thats how the sausage gets not casing. Thats how the sausage gets in the casing. Taking this met for way too literally. Way too far. Im trying to work with it. Somebody came up with it. Thought it was good idea. Right. Try to sell it. The tickets are still at a good price. Obviously you worked with some pretty high name people. Umhmm. That have seemed to just keep getting bigger stars. You still keep in contact with the John Stewarts of the world and Stephen Colbert and all of them and how much do they influence what you do . Well, i mean they influenced it a lot. I spent ten years on the daily show working with some of the funniest writers and comedians in the business and you realize, you know, i that was my first i came from an acting background, and that was my first for ray into that kind of world, and spending ten years in that lab of the daily spoils you because then you leave and you go, like, oh, wait a minute, the bar has been set really high for me in terms of the people that ive work with. Right. The people that i sort of bounded ideas off of. So, um, we dont keep in touch on regular basis now as much because everyone is really busy and doing their own thing, but, yeah, definitely influenced me a great deal. I want to get your opinion on a true Tv Documentary called the problem with abu. Im in that documentary. I know. I saw you. Yeah. I was watching some of it this morning. So it comes to that fine line and for people that arent familiar with abu hes the indian character on the sim simpsons. So this comedian here thats he takes issue with it. Thinking its very, um, disrespect full obviously. Right. No indian people but it does come to that fine line of what is offensive versus what is funny . And thats so hard discern for comedians. It is. You know like i think the thing with apu for so long was that he was the only representation of indianamericans. Right. So like a lot of us got labeled with that sort of apu stereotype, upping, it became this thing where if there were, upping, now we live in world where we have we see many comedians and actors who are indian and south asian origin on tv but at that time when the simpsons first came out apu was the only one and he was kind of doing a sort of reductive version and he has a great line acactually he says ams an impression of apu sounds like a white guy doing making fun of my dad. Right. Exactly. That kind of it does walk that fine line of what is funny. Sometimes things are funny, you know, ive had people say this to me. In my career. Just dot accent because its if thats the only reason its funny, it may not be funny. It may not be funny. If the accent is the only thing that you think is funny about it. So i love hari. I think hes he was funny. I enjoyed watching him. One of the some smart test y comedians out there. Womb pee goldberg. Who is that. I saw her the on the night. She was super excited im excited about your four shows going on at the arlington draft house. Tickets are going fast. I dont know if theres any left if im being honest two shows tonight and two shows tomorrow night. Check it out. Please, come back and visit us any time. Thank you. Good luck with that marriage.
