WTA make major final set change but strange omission from Friday ATP Cup schedule
The WTA will shorten matches this weekend by implementing a final set tie-break, while the ATP Cup will also resume on Friday.
Should scores be level after two sets, female players will play a first to 10 point tie-break instead of the traditional deciding format.
The major move,
confirmed by WTA Insider on Twitter, will help speed up matches after players were forced into isolation on Thursday.
In a race against time, Margaret Court Arena will host no fewer than
eight women’s matches on Friday – with the world’s top five players all in action.
