With my heart pounding on the dark February evening, I knocked on the heavy door. It was time to step up and follow my dream. At the sound of a lock opening, a beam of light illuminated the doorway. A voice asked my name. “Come on in. We are almost all here.”
Following the woman up the long flight of stairs, I was ushered into an elegant, large room. The high ceiling, large windows and stately atmosphere signalled the long history of the building; the enormous table suggested substance and authority, just what a newspaper should have. As invitees were seated, introductions got underway by our hosts: Steve Lukits, Paul Schliesmann and administrative assistant Rosemary Shaule of The Kingston Whig-Standard.
