[ cheers and applause and we will have music from noah kahan so youre here on a great night. Before we get to any of our guests, President Trump used his trip to europe to enrich himselh as calls for impeachment grew louder. For more on this, its time for a closer look. [ cheers and applause seth President Trump is back in the u. S. Fresh off his European Tour of doingnd saying dumb things in important places [ laughter ] whenever trump goes abroad, its like seeing all the worst habits ofinmerican tourists rolled one person [ light laughter ] the only thing he didnt do was show up to the louvre in sandalo and mickey ears lding a mcflurry [ laughter ] this trip was no exception trump once again brought his signature weirdness to some of the worlds. Most famous landma he gave the queen another one of his clammy hand shakes he went to Buckingham Palace to reenact the scene from the movie tommy boy. [ laughter ] and he tried on a Winston Churchill style bowler hat during an interview on British Television [ laughter ] you know, its pretty obvious that british reporrs just like to make him do things to make him look silly like, right now, try on this hat. [ laughter ] say this but your hair looks better than you in a hat [ laughter ] you dont look like Winston Churchill. You look like dick tracy minus the tracy. [ laughter ] [ cheers andpplause of course, one of the biggest highlights one of the biggest hiaslights of trumps trip w to stop at normandy to commemorate the 75th anniversary of dday now during his prepared remarks, antrump stayed on script, it was a moving and solemn tribute. Afterwards however, in an unscripted meeting with french president Emmanuel Macron, rump tried to describe in his own terms the historical significance of normandy and he was a little less specific this was a very special day and i want to thank you for inviting me. This was something that was we read about it all our lives, normandy and there were those that say it was the most important ever. Not just at that time but ever but its a very special place. Its an amazing place. And its somewhere when you think of those places of great importance, this is certainly one of the top [ light laughter ] in the eyes of summits, the top because of what it meant in terms of the turnaround of a very, very bad situation that was the big turn. Seth i love how the camera pulls back like its trying see if theres someone else in the room who knows what the [ bleep ] is going on . [ lauger ] [ cheers and applause i mean, he sounds like hes doing voiceover for the historys channel, but then helled coffee on his script [ laughter ] and then, there was trumps trip to ireland where he met with the irish Prime Minister and discussed the impact of brexit on the border between ireland an the independent republic of northern ireland, which is part of the u. Kn right now, theres aopen border there the absolute last thing anyone wants there is a wall. Something about havingall there. A comment that was so dumb, the Prime Ministert f ireland had to com. I think it will all work out, it will all work out very well and also for you with your wall, your border. I mean, we have a border situation in the united states, and you have one over here but i hear its going to work out very well. I think it is supposed to work out well its going to work out very well here the thing we want to avoid, of course, has been to border our walls. No. I think you do i think you do the way it works now is good you want to try to keep it that way. Seth i love when trump pretends he knew the right answer the whole time. You need a wall. We dont want a wall. D no, yeah, yt, no no, i knew that. I was testing you. You pass congratulations. [ laughter ]ss you im smart and you passed. Seriously, this guy is unbelievable ddle of an extremely delicate diplomatic situation involving a landmark peace accord that endea des of sectarian conflict, and trump just bursts in and immediately says the wrong thing. Hes the kramer of international diplomacy. [ laughter and applause but trump didnt just go to ireland trump didnt just go to ireland to make brexit bloopers. He also went there to enrich himself on the taxpayers dime by staking yet another one of his personal properties, a golf course he owns in ireland called doonbeg. In fact, Huffington Post reportedhat the trip to his golf course in ireland added at least another 3. 6 million to a taxpayer funded golf tab that totals nearly 106 million from just two and a half years. And the resort in ireland even mpbegan posting video of t arrival aboard marine one and of him teeing off the first green i promotional material. And on top of that tthey charged us forhe hat [ laughter ] trump also toted his weird adult sons around him evenugh [ laughter ] they dont work for the government, and they run the family business, which is supposed to be independent from the white house. They were even posting instagram photos from the trip like this shot don jr. Posted from p buckinghace. Once again, why do these guys stand like such weirdos . [ laughter ] did he forget to take the hanger out of his jacket . [ laughter ] hes like an alien who crash landed on earth and learned how to stand up straight by looking at a ken doll. [ laughter ] ive seen dogs that look more natural standing on their hind legs [ laughter and applause even if you put aside the 400 page Mueller Report anthe mountains of evidence that trump obstructed justice, trumps selfdealing should be a huge scandal. The president is enriching himselon the taxpayers dime and mixing his personal business with the government. Compare that to previous president s who went to Great Lengths to separate themselveses from their busins in order to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest jimmy carter famously put his peanut farm into a blind trust to avoid any suggestion that he might ever implement a policy that would benefit himself financially. Te seth jimmy cput his peanut farm in a blind trustco d you imagine if trump had a peanut farm . Hed be holding rallies there and selling jars of Peanut Butter with the president ial seal on them i mean, he already looks like a Peanut Company mascot. [ laughter ] if you ask trump if the border wall would be made of steel or concrete, d say were making the wall out of peanuts [ laughter ] seth in many ways, this is all part of the same story with trump. Whether its his selfdealing or the 400 pages of evidence in the muellereport trumps main interest is always enriching himself. And now, theres increasing f pressurem democrats in congress in running for president to begin impeachment hearings massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren made her case for impeachment again duringk. Town hall last wee do you believe still that impeachment is the right path forward, and why or why not . Yes, i do [ cheers a applause the Mueller Report came out. Th and afternoon it came out, i sat down and started reading it. I read it all night. Ternoon. I read it into the next morning. All 448 pages. Donald trump as president delayed, deflected, moved, fired, and did could to obstruct justice. If he were any other person inte the united sta based on whats documented in that report, he would be carried out in handcuffs seth i love that she said trump would be carried out because, you know thats how theyd have to do it if the feds ever ce for trump, he would lie down on the floor like a kid who doesnt go to school and theyd have to lt him out with a crane like when they transfer beluga whales at seaworld where are you going to set me down . An yet in the face of these increasing calls for impeachment, some Democratic Leaders in the house, and in particular, House Speaker nancy pelosi have been resistant. Last week, pelosi tried to mollify calls for impeachment by saying she would rather see trump in jail. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi escalating her war of words against the present. Politico reporting that during a meeting tuesday, she was pressed by judiciary chairman jerry nadler to start impeachment proceedings. Nbc news has learned from a congssional source in the room, pelosi then said about the president , i dont want to see him impeached. I want to see him in prison. Seth what does that mean if you think theres enough evidence to put him in jail, then there is enough evidence s for him to lose hib. If you caught an employee stealing cash from the register, you wouldnt say, youll go to jail for this. But until that day, ill see you at the company picnic. [ laughter ] now it will not shock you to learn that after that comment, trump and his allies lashed out at pelosi. First, trump himself attacked her in a series of tweets and an interview on fox news. Nervous nancy pelosi is a disgrace to herself and her family for having made such a disgusting statement, especially since i was with foreign leaders overseas i think shes a disgrace. I actually dont think shes a talent person. She is a nasty, vindictive, horrible person. Bunancy pelosi, i call her nervous nancy. Nancy pelosis a disaster. And she made a statement it was a horrible, nasty, vicious statement. When you were overseas. While im overseas. Now if i me any statement about anybody, it would be like a why would he do that when hes overseas seth youre doing it right [ laughter ] you just did it. Do trump this weird thing where he predicts headlines as hes making those headlines. [ light laughter ] its lika local News Reporter holding a match and a bottle of kerosene over a graphic that says, house fire in the bronx more at 11 00. [ laughter ] also, you call her nervous nancy . You sweat like a High School Sophomore who crapped his pants in math class and just got called to the chalkboard [ laughter ] then there was trump booster sean hannity who without a hint of irony claimed pelosi had gonc too far byalling for trump to be jailed. Ap Speaker Pelosi norently telling senior democrats she would like to see trump behind bars based on no actual crime, she wants a political opponent locked up in prison . That happens in banana republics. Beyond despicable behavior seth hey, man, where were you during all those lock her up chantsat oh, right, you werhose rallies. [ laughter ] i mean, look at these two. This looks like the end of one f of thosedraisers where they auction off a date with two bachelors nobody wants to bid on 10, 5 ill wear my tiny tuxedo. Impeachment will give democrats the opportunity to marshal all the evidence against trump in public and tell a story about his corruption that ties everything together. Because right now, trump is obstructing and stonewalling congress on almost every front all hes giving them is peanuts [ laughter ] seth this has been a closer look [ cheers and applause well be right back with steve buscemi, everybody [ cheers and applause announcer for more of seths closer looks, be sure to subscribe to late night on youtube. E [ cheers and applaus seth fred, this is Andrew Wyeths christinas world. Fred, tell us what you know about this classic painting. Fred it was very controversial at the time. [ light laughter ] mostly for because of the use of color a lot of paintings back thenhi were black and w [ laughter ] so, it was very daring you know a class struggle at the time, and it was just sort of seth a class struggle . Fred yeah. Seth yeah. Fred like only rich ople seth ah. Fred for paints [ laughter ] so, it was seth so sorry p sor people back then painted they only had black paint or white paint fred yes yes or shades of gray. Seth uhhuh. Fred in some cases [ laughter ] um, so seth well, dont you think that was often, probably just xi made by mi the black and white . [ laughter ] fred thats well, thats what they say. Seth yeah. Fred no onugknows for sure [ laer ] so this is very controversial. Also, the controversy was in how quickly he did it. Painted this in about half an hour [ laughter ] and the reason for that is because he was timed someone sort of timed him. They were like, how fast can you do this painting . Hes like, i can do i can do it, but the house has to be far away. Orerinally [ it was her it was her right at the front door of the house. And he like, im just gonna make this thing small, and that will save a whole bunch of time. [ laughter ] seth so in the original plan so like, do you think it was like, its like, you only have two minutes left, and then that is the moment he realized you should put the house far away fred yes, yes. So like, ill make this really it there. And leave but she was thee regular size. Seth gotcha. Fred and also, she wasun turned aroin the original version. Seth okay. And hes like, im just gonna just do the back of her just so its the dress. [ laughter ]as seth thats fac. I cant believe how much i learn from you each and every day. Give it up for fred armisen, everybody. [ cheers and applause our first guest tonight is an emmywinning actor and director you know from his work on boardwalk empire as well as ch films as fargo and the big lebowski. He stars in the dead dont die, which opens in theaters friday lets take a look. Come on, stupid [ dog barking hey. Ou what areoing [ dog barking ] goddammit. Seth theres a lot of prosthetic as you would expect from a zombie film yeah. Ha seth did you enjoy tpart of the job no. Seth yeah. [ light laughter ] yeah, i mean everybodys nice, you know, but it takes long time seth yeah. To put the makeup on and and then you look like a zombie and nobody wants to talk to you really you know [ laughter ] seth did you feel same way about your cast members who were the zombies . Yeah. Yeah well, Chloe Sevigny is in the film and i hadnt seen her in a long time, and we were catching up but and i you know having a serious conversation, but i couldnt look her in the eye cause literally her eye was like falling out of her head [ laughter ] s had p talking. Seth thats so i said, thank you. [ laughter ] seth but this is true. This in your early days, you had two head shots i did, yeah seth and you would decide based on the role whether or not to send out the psycho one well, i didnt think i looked like a psycho. Seth oh, imorry [ laughter ] well, here this is obviously your yeah. Thats like, you know, like, the boy next door. Seth yeah. Boy next door. You know. Seth a this is the guy who maybe has some trouble with the boy next doo yeah. Seth i mean ndats [ laughter applause i mean, thats the same guy but very different parts but heres the weird thing. Yeah seth you you found your first this is first what would you say . Your acting resume is that . Yeah. Seth and not a lot going on hereve no, its slight. Seth yeah. Yeah. Seth is it true that you cause you did some standup comedy i did seth but in your early days, u actually thought there was a chance ventriloquism was thing you took you know, when i was a kid, you know, i wanted to be in show business seth yeah. You know, i didnt necessarily know like how to be an actor but i figured, you tta know a lot of stuff. So, i learned how to juggle. I learned how to ride a unicycle [ light laughter ] and then i for a little while i thought ventriloquism, that [ laughter ] thats my ticket seth andhen did you realize it was the 80s and none of those skills actually mattered anymore [ laughter ] seth yeah. Sappoi years of training seth but then good news was that, you know, you though, oh, you wasted all that time learning to do that stuff, and in the end they were like, you know whats good, though l you look atle bit like a psycho. [ laughter ] yes seth we can use that. So you were doing standup and at the same that you were doing standup and you were acting, you were also a fireman. I was seth and not a volunteer fireman. You were an actual firan yeah, at engine 55 in manhattan, and i did that [ cheers and applause thank you. I kind of kept it under wraps. I mean, i had done a little bit of standup, and then i got called for the job so, i stped doing standup, and i just so and i was like the quietest guy in the fire house cause you didnt want to ve these guys any ammunition to make fun of you [ light laughter ] seth sure. Yeah. So, it was like seth so you uld never say like, with everybody like, did anybody else here ride a unicycle . You wouldnt yeah [ laughter ] and there was only one ot r there was another firefighter that was an actor who worked in another fire house. And and they made fun of him. Like like night and day you know and so i definitely wasnt gonna tell anybody that i and then i t him. And he because i lived in the east village, he knew something was up he said, what are you b you mustsomething. A musician are you an actor . And i admitted that i was an actor, or that i wanted toe an actor. And then so the cat was out of the bag. Seth and then they found out. And they tortured me. Seth they tortured you [ ght laughter ] but you met is it true you met jim jarmusch the director of this film as a standup . Well, yes i was doing well, not standup i had a partner, mark boone jr. And we used to write seth whos a great actor hes a wonderful actor. And we used to write and perform our own material and we used to do a show there was a comedian called Rockets Redglare seth okay. Did you ever know him seth no. Rockets, his name was Rockets Redglare rockeug redglare. [ light er ] seth okay. And he used to do seth got to go into comedy with a name like that, i mean. [ laughter ] and he had a show called Rockets Redglares taxi cabaret. And boone and i would perform in that and jim used to see us in that, and thats how he cast me in one of the early films, mystery train. Seth yeah. Seth did you so this is a show from 20 years ago. 25. Seth 25 years ago. Ears ago, yeah seth were you familiar with the original show . I wasnt actually i feel sort of like i felt a little bit bad en i found out, because its such, sort of like, a cult classic, and armisteads book are so important and incredible, bui was just so excited when i heard about it for the first time. And i i, like, ate the books upe there arst nine of them. So obviously im a nerd. Seth yeah. And yeah. And was this like huge cult classic in the early 90s, and then, i think theyve been wanting to sort of put it together since then, and all the chips just fell as they did. Seth well, thats fantastic. Its a great cast. Yeah. Seth it looks nderful. But i have to ask you about this i do want to move on to something. Because you and your husband yes seth i dont know if, was it a t neymoon . Is tha i was okay, so well, kind of well call it sure i mean, why not . Well, we didnt take a honeymoon when we were supposed to wee both actors so we got married, and then we both like he went to canada, and i went to los angeles. So we were like married for fivt days togr, and then we were apart for six weeks. Maybe thats why were still married. Seth yeah. [ laughter ] but we had always wanted we liked this idea of like renting an rv, and taking like a month off, and doi just like a crazy trip with our dog for seth and you did it. We did it so seth and i feel like that ll could n either side of the coin yes seth and how did you end up feeling about rvs at the end of the month . I mean, well, were both still alive. And were still married. Seth uhhuh. So thats good. Seth yeah. And we like want to buy an rv seth yeah. Were like kind of we want to maybe seth youre rv people maybe . Were like totally rv people now. [ cheers and applause we were on the road. Ke and i was li i know, right . Yeah, we were seth here you are. You drove. I drove seth do you neha i a lot of questions. Yes seth do you need a special license . You do not need a special license. Seth okay, are they hard to park they yes seth okay. But you get used to it. Seth yeah. And we rented this rv yeah, we got our Security Deposit back seth oh, thats good i didnt seth i would be nervous tha you woulve to park your rv around other rvseo and that those pe would be rv pros, and that i would look in the parking of the rv like a poser who had maybe never been in an rv before. Yeah, so we got stuck behind this older couple who were trying to park their rv, and it got so bad that like a park wnger had to come, and it like a whole situation and they were doing, sort of like, the austin powers thing, except, like, they hadnt like committed to it. It wasnt like, were going to keep going, and, like, eventually were going to make it. They just kept going in like the same exact [ laughter ] and we were like, evan and i were sitting there, and we were just like, oh my god. Been in the rv for aboive ke days so we were like, were veterans. Seth yeah. [ laughter ] like, these people really need to get their stuff together. Seth rv lingo, is there a lingo to being an rv owner yes, theres definitely a lingo. Seth are there things you can tell me, or being somebody who has not been in an rv, am i not allowed to hear. I mean, theres like i might get in trouble seth okay, yeah. He with like tv law seth community, yeah individuals, but im willing to risk it cause were friends l e theres a whole, when theres normally like a if its an rv park theres like a full hookup seth oh wow.
