So, lets take a look at four simple things you can do to make this easy for you. So, to dig yourself out of debt, fill envelopes with cash. What i mean by that, once you know what your fixed spending is every month, things like utilities, car payments, rent and so on, label a bunch of envelopes and fillem food, entertainment, maybe shopping for when you want a new pair of shoes. Thats not even like it is a threat. Mother nature has not been kind and this is whats going to happen again. But before that, a generous dose of spring . Yeah, for sure. Temperatures today got into the low 60s. It was gorgeous outside. Not only putting away the coats. Not needing the jackets earlier today. Some very nice weather. Do not get used to this. Out there right now the cloud cover, temperature wise were sitting at 59 degrees. Out at the airport, winds out of the south at 6 miles an hour. Look at the rest of the area. Into the 60s, but we have 63 in leesburg, 61 culpepper, 62 in honeytown. It is warm everywhere with the exception of areas right along the bay. 47 in annapolis, even quantico right along the potomac here down towards the river, yeah, even colder in that spot as well. But very warm everywhere. Take a look at this. Even warmer in our southern zone. 66 in richmond, 69 in charleston. I think were going to get warmer during the day but that is, of course, going to come with a price. We do not get this warm without something happening, and this something is going to be a storm. Not really looking at any rain. You can start to see a couple of radar returns. Thats what we call them, returns showing us some rain trying to form. But there is not much in our area right now. But there will be overnight tonight. You can see the rain and the storm back to the west. This is the first batch of rain were going to see overnight tonight into early tomorrow and heres the next batch to the west. And notice the snow back to the west and the cold front, boy, that cold front has got some monster cold air behind it. But first tonight, 7 00 tonight, notice a few showers. Well get through the evening rush okay. But then overnight tonight into around 11 00, some hoshower activity back to the west. Everybody gets in on the action tomorrow for the morning rush. For the morning rush i expect it to be on the wet side, maybe some heavier showers. Look at the downpours around noon. Yesterday i was thinking wed get a break between 11 00 and 4 00. Today it does not look like thats going to be the case. We could see some thunder with this. Now, this moves out by 0 by 5 00, now weve got that break. Were still predicting a break. Its just a couple hours later. Watch what happens tomorrow evening. By around 11 00, 12 00 at night, a line of showers or thunderstorms develops. We could see some thunderstorm activity moving in during the evening hours tomorrow night. So, maybe a little bit of thunder, nothing severe here, but any of these could dump or dump some very heavy rainfall, but also bring in some gusty winds. We could see 40, 50 mile an hour wind. That is something to think about tomorrow. Look what happens behind it. We see a cold front come through and that cold front, man does that bring colder temperatures as we move on through. What to expect tomorrow, periods of rain, heavy at times, early and then again especially during the lunch time hour. Then again tomorrow evening. Some thunder will be possible, but once again, not expecting too much in the way of Severe Weather and much colder into saturday. Now, coming up at 4 45, amelia is going to join me. Well take you hour by hour with the temperatures. 50 degree temperature drop . We go from 65 to about 15 degrees for a temperature coming saturday. 67 to 36 feels like its down to Single Digits in part saturday night into sunday. 29 on your sunday and, yes, were still looking at a chance for what could be some light snow next tuesday into wednesday. So, if there are still survivors out there, that ch definitely help. Live in montecito, gina kim. Amelia, lets toss it to you. Thanks so much, gina. So, when we talk about these wildfires and then the deadly mudslides that followed, take a look at some video first. You can see boulders pushed around like theyre bouncy balls, like they weigh almost nothing. So, how did this happen . Why was this so catastrophic . Well, take a look at this graphic i put together this afternoon. When we look at the soil, theres three main layers. You have the organic rich soil. This is what were most accustomed to deal with. This is where the plants are, where the bugs are. But below that layer you have a water repellent layer. And then below that you have wettable soil. Of course, you have your vegetation on top. The trees, the plants, the bushes. Well, what happened with the wildfires, they went through and they took off soil and that only left the water repellent layer left. You can see that just left ash and soil. Then what happened in california, in Santa Barbara county, we saw very heavy rain move in. That brought flash flooding. It was recorded up to 6 to 10 inches of rainfall in some areas. So, you have that rain dropping a lot of water, mixing with the debris of the ash, of boulders, of soil. And what happens then is you start to see all of that move down the mountain and it can just pickup boulders and pickup cars. So, this is why it was so deadly. What happened with the wildfires, you got rid of that top layer of soil thats typically there. This water repellent layer basically think of it as pavement. So, as that water fell down, its basically falling on widespread pavement. It has nowhere to go into the soil, and once you have all that rainfall, flash flooding which would have been bad on its own coming down the mountain, you s being the videos are hard to believe. To think of boulders that big, kind of tossed around like stones. Ironic thing is thats nature renewing itself. If there were no people involved between all of that, we would marvel how nouch ature is regenerating itself after the fire. Good point. A lot of devastation. That wet stuff is moving our way and the temperature drop. Give us the time line. This is really going to be a monster of a storm for us in the shape ahead of the storm, it brings in temperatures close to 70 degrees. And then we get into the 20s by saturday night. And, yes, weve got a lot of rain. And boy do we need the rain. So far since december 1st, were under three quarters of an inch of rainfall. Thats a month and a half. We are way below average right now in Drought Conditions as we talked about and were going to continue to see that rain moving our way. First off lets look at tonight. A very mild night for sure. Current temperature 59 degrees. Those temperatures not really dropping all that much. Still very warm by 11 00, a temperature of around 56. By the time you wake up. Currently 62 fort belvoir, 63 in camp springs and gaithersburg coming in at 60 degrees. It is warm everywhere. Storm team4 radar dry. Were going to stay on the dry side for the most part over the next few hours, but we are going to start to see some showers developing. You can see where some are trying to form now.
