Here to break it all down, chuck todd. Ill say this, it is one of the big broken promises of this tax it is not tax reform, it is a big tax cut particularly on the corporate side. But they didnt simplified the code at all. Seven brackets. None of the code is any simpler and if anything, accountant last night who was almost giddy about the new ways that they can find they just created new loopholes. Maybe they closed one or two over here, but one or two opened up over there. I think they did fix it so that fewer people will see a tax hike, but the big gamble here is permanent tax cut for Corporate America will somehow make it way down to the middle class either in the form of wage increases or new jobs. That is the gamble. And history says Shareholders Benefit a lot more, but thats whats need to have happen to ever have voters believe this was truly a successful idea. There was a state with the state and local income taxes and the idea that maybe your mortgage deduction will be capped at 500,000 and they raised that up to 750,000. But it is grandfathered in. So you can still get the exemption up to a mill beyond if it medical join million if it is amortgages. And they lowered the threshold of when the higher tax rate kicks in. So the first 600,000 is at the 35 tax rate. That was an attempt to mitigate the issue of losing your ability to writeoff your state and local taxes. I think it turns people from tax hike to tax cut. I think in new york city, it still isnt enough or even in a california. Maybe you will get more folks to break even ther as we watched the senate race for Jeff Sessions seat. Doug jones came out on top. First democrat to win in decades. So what does it mean for the 2018 Political Landscape . There are two big impacts here. One is just the math. Democrats are one step closer to the senate than they were before. And that step is a huge step because the difference between their ability to win three with this map that they are facing in 2018 and two, the on odds increased from them taking the senate went from 10 to 50 . It didnt just increase incrementally. Because there are two they have that they have a really decent shot at in nevada and arizona. The third was tennessee which was a tough he were reaer reach. So they now only need two of those three. But i think short term, republicans only have 51 senators now next year. They have had a hard time corralling 52. I think this tax legislation once the president signs it, i think that is the last big thing he will get done at least until the midterms and probably until 2021 because they wont have the margins in this polarized environment to get anything big done. Infrastructure bill, forget it. I dont see that happening. And anywhere sort of new reform in health care, no chance in this kind of climate margins. Certainly to see what way the country goes. And a new poll shows that democrats are way up right now as far as when it comes to where voters are thinking for 2018. Can they sustain it for 11 months is a challenge for them.
