The concept of Net Neutrality really means that Internet Service providers, the companies that give you internet access, should treat all of the content that comes across those wires equally. Reporter now fcc chairman is urging the protecting that equal treatment. On thursday, the fcc is going to vote whether to put aside the current rules held over from the previous administration. If the rules are repealed, some fear Internet Service providers could give preferential treatment and charge consumers more for basic service. Repeal supporters argue that current regulations are too heavy handed and could happen in a free market. But according to fcc data, about 40 of the country only has one option for Internet Service. They cant just go to, you know, somebody else for Better Service if they dont like the service they are getting now. Reporter advocates of Net Neutrality say the internet should be treated like a utility and on tuesday, 32 senators signed a letter to the fcc chairman urging him to reconsider. Its not going to be the end of the world immediately but opens the door to a lot of things we may not want to deal so this battle is far from over.
