You can see as it makes land fall, likely somewhere around louisiana or mississippi, so parts of louisdreyfus lieu, mississippi, the alabama and florida coast line really under the gun with this storm. The biggest concern will be storm surge flooding. Take a look as it continues to move toward the north, northeast eventually. And then get this easterly component impacting our area on monday. Now to doug thank you, it has been 12 hours since a violent attack in a Montgomery County neighborhood. Until police find the suspect, residents there remain on edge. A woman waiting for the bus on watkins mill road at travis lane here was pulled into the woods and sexually assaulted. Chopper 4 shot this video of police shortly after they launched their investigation. News 4s chris gordon is there live now. What have you learned, chris . Reporter well, jim, within the past hour we watched detectives focus on this rideon bus stop for the second time today, and then enter these woods where the victim was dragged against her will. Police say she tried to fight off the stranger who overpowered her. This evening, detectives returning to the woods where the victim was attacked. Police are calling it a sexual assault, a possible rape. They are collecting evidence they hope will lead them to the man who grabbed the woman at this bus stopt assaulted her, and then ran off. Police say the victim is physically injured and traumatized. Right now our detectives are still trying to interview her, obtain information about the suspect and we are trying to identify him. Reporter local resident christine washington says she is keeping a close eye on her young children. She is shaken by the attack which occurred across the street from her home. Actually just watch where we have to gi told my older son to be careful. If you have to catch the bus, because obviously its not safe any more. Reporter shes not the only one in fear this evening. Are you at all concerned for your safety . Yes, absolutely. Honestly, yes. It is surprising to hear and definitely will make me take more caution. Reporter police have a general description of the suspect they believe is responsible for the attack at this bus stop. They say its a young man in his 20s wearing a dark checkered shirt or jacket and they are asking anyone in the public who may have passed this bus stop on watkins mill road in gaithersburg this morning between 5 30 and 6 00 to give them a call. Now to the latest from las vegas where investigators are trying to figure out if someone else may have been in the gunmans hotel room when he stayed at the mandalay bay resort. Crews repaired the windows, the two windows he shot out. Stephen paddock had smashed out those windows sunday night. Senior Law Enforcement officials tell nbc news there are two things they are trying to figure out now. Inside that hotel room, a charger that didnt match any of the gunmans cell phones. And they also say garage records show that in a time when paddocks vehicle left the hotel garage, one of his key cards was used to get into the room. Meanwhile, a line of cro vegas sign in memory of the 58 people who were gunned down. Each of them made by the same guy who did a similar memorial for the victims of that Orlando Night Club shooting. Months of planning, more than 100 shots fired and today we are getting a more detailed picture of the chaos that unfolded during the gop baseball practice in alexandria last june. Those details came in a 40page report from the commonwealths attorney in alexandria. News 4s Mark Segraves breaks down that new time line. Reporter 66yearold James Hodgkinson began experiencing financial problems back in 2016 according to the report. He told family members he didnt think he had long to live. Hodgkinson left his home in illinois in march telling his family he was going to washington, d. C. To protest and to talk about taxes. Police found video on his cell phone of the baseball field that witnesses say they s that baseball field in may, and again he was seen at the practice the day before the shooting. The commonwealths Attorney Says its likely hodgkinson picked the baseball field in alexandria as his target as early as april. The report goes into great detail about the attack. Detailing how House Majority whip Steve Scalise was the first person to be shot. Then matthew micah, a lobbyist was shot in the chest. The third victim, zachary barth, a congressional staffer was shot in his leg as he tried to take cover. The report also walks us through the exchange of gun fire between hodgkinson and the Alexandria Police officers and Capital Police officers, including how the suspect continued to fire on police after being shot once and how Police Ultimately pinned the gunman down behind a dugout where two officers were able to shoot him ag family members of James Hodgkinson told investigators they had been in semi regular contact for the few months he was living in his truck in the alexandria area and two days before the shooting he told his family he was ready to return to illinois. It likely, though, will strengthen to a category 1 hurricane tomorrow durk the day as it enters the warm gulf we head into the evening and overnight hours tonight. As we look at our gulf coast, take a look, all the colors you are seeing here are hurricane watches or wrn warnings or Tropical Storm watches or warnings and flood concerns as well. The biggest concerns will be from areas like new orleans out toward mobile, alabama and over towards the pensacola area. Thats where were really going to focus on nate having the biggest impacts. Not just with storm surge flooding but also winds and a lot of heavy rain potentially as well. The storm is moving so fast and thats good news. Irs security acknowledged concerns from the hotel in an email last year, the iteam has learned. Saying the hotel poses a vulnerability and threat to the security of the irs building, that it compromised sight lines, and emergency evacuations, and cars and taxis are unscreened by canines. That w garage adjacent to the irs building itself. Our cameras never see them check under the hood or around the vehicle. The irs declined to speak on camera about this, but said it works well with trump hotel security, monitors security constantly and the email from last year doesnt reflect the current situation. Almost 50 thefts in two days, these pictures from breakins over the past six months. It keeps happening. They smashandgrab cell phones, electronics, or all four tires and rims. Reporter we found broken glass scattered outside of apartments in largo. Police tell me thieves broke into a car here. They also hit a complex in lanham where some people are leaving items in plain sight or doors unlocked. Its pretty common. We went to Corporal Tyler it, lock it, keep it. Basically we need your help to try to put an end to these crimes. Reporter for kevin, he bought this honda not even two months ago. His first brandnew car. I bought it six miles off the lot. Get out before Tropical Storm nate makes land fall. The mayor of new orleans just ordered residents to evacuate and heres why. Nate already killed more than 20 people in costa rica, dangerous flooding and land slides. Now nate is zeroing in on the u. S. People on the alabama coast are tying things down on their decks. Offshore oil rigs are shutting down and evacuating. Meteorologist Amelia Draper is tracking nate for us this evening and the potential impact here at home. Amelia. Yeah, exactly, leon. We are also hearing of some mandatory evacuations for parts of new orleans. Heres the latest on nate. Maximum winds sustained at 60 miles an hour. It is moving to the north, north wels and look at the speed. This is really fast for a storm like this. 21 miles an hour. So, it is racing along. Thankfully with that quick speed, were not going to see any area in the gufrl necessarily pickup a lot of water so the concern then shifts to storm surge flooding and strong gusty winds. Here is the latest track. And notice these white lines, the cone of uncertainty. And the cone of uncertainty means where the storm can travel, the eye. The latest track keeps the eye off the yucatan peninsula out of so as it enters the warmer inte least to a category 1 hurricane as it makes land fall early sunday, somewhere in louisiana, mississippi and alabama coast line. Again, storm surge flooding will be the concern there. It then continues up toward our area, bringing us rain here on monday. The impacts here, some much needed rain. Likely around an inch or less. We could see a little bit more, but im not seeing enough right now to lead to flooding concerns here so some good news. We could see some wind. Monday might be a storm team 4 weather alert day due to nate and it would be from the rain, guys, versus any sort of wind. The winds we see now would not be damaging here in our area thankfully.
