Just an hour after this shooting there was another shooting not far from here and about half of the police led out of here with lights and sirens blaring. No victims were found at that scene. The single mother inside thought he was a burglar and called police. When officers arrived, dash cam video shows the man walking towards them. He began moving more quickly. The suspect began aggressively coming towards me. The officer fired 12 shots, hitting farrell ten times. It was testified that he believed farrell was trying to grab his gun. I thought i was going to die. Nothing i would do would stop him. Farrell was not armed and jurors heard conflicting testimony about whether the officer followed police procedure. The defendant shot the man ten times and that was excessive and thats voluntary manslaughter. In the presence of cops you dont run. Marijuana and alcohol was found in farrells system. Attorneys say that is no excuse for gunning down an unarmed man. Uptown charlotte Business Owners have been told to prepare for the verdict and possibility of violent demonstrations and vandalism.
