Two children are dead after a tree limb fell on their tent while they were sleeping. Park Officials Say they dont know why the limb fell yesterday. Weather was not a factor. They warned campers to be aware of their surroundings, even in designated camp sights. Attempted abduction marks the fifth attack in a fivemile radius. The most recent happened thursday night in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Megan fitzgerald reports on how its forcing some women to change their routine. I hate the fact this is happening in arlington. Reporter on thursday night, near the 800 block of south frederick, police have their fifth attempted sex assault. A woman was walking to her apartment when she was grabbed and dragged into the woods. She continues to scream, hits him, it scares him audiotape. Reporter Daniel Murray is the deputy police. The woman fought back and the man took off. We have never had a problem like this. Reporter its an issue that caused some women to alter their routine. I wont go out at night by myself, not at all. Reporter others are more aware. That was Megan Fitzgerald reporting. An intoxicated man ripped a gas pump off the base in monrovia. Police called in fire rescue to contain the gas spill before anything too terrible happens. Right now, firefighters are using all they have to put out three wildfires in washington state. Seven homes are destroyed. Evacuations started. First responders say lightning sparked at least one of the fires there. Its too windy to attack from the sky. They are low on resources because of so many wildfires in parts of the region. Federal prosecutors say virginia governor, bob mcdonal should go to prison while appealing. They have not responded to the lawyers motion that he remain free during the appeals process. Prosecutors say that the former governor no longer deserves bail. Earlier this week, a court declined to reconsider his case. He is now headed to the supreme court. We have a questionnaire that starts a conversation. What are you looking for in an animal. At that time, we hopefully send them on their merry way. We have 175 animals available for adoption, well over 50 dogs. We have animal that is come in a variety of ways. Strays picked up by animal control officers and they are ready go. According to reuters, the agency will hire 1100 new officers and agents over the next five years. It would be the biggest increase in staff at the secret service in more than a decade. He stepped out the back door and came facetoface with the bear. I yelled, hey get out of here. He continued to come toward me. There was a plastic pot of dirt and i hit him. Reporter it left the attacking bear unphased. He planted down. I could hear the crunching, like that, when he bit down on it. Thats why i was trying to hit him again. Reporter he kicked the bear off of him, using survival tactics he learned during his time in the marine corps. They tell you to remove the word cant from your vocabulary. Dont ever say that word again. Then say they take the pain. Take the pain. Reporter he said the pain didnt kick in until this morning, but hes been through worse rating it a seven out of ten on the scale. He says he wouldnt have survived the encounter without a little help. His pintsized dog never once left his side. He distracted that bear long enough that i could standup on my feet and get out of there. He was the hero. He saved me. According to police, the man tried to take the officers gun. A struggle follows. A man stabbed another to death. Monday, hell be in court. Today, we told you about 57yearold hector felixs arrest last night. He got into an argument with eric smith and attacked him. They tried to save smith and died at the hospital. Victims of a frightening attack are outraged with what happened to their attacker after he got arrested. He randomly asauled six people. Jackie bensen reports why the man is already back on the street. Reporter victims of the violent, random attack near first and k street about 5 00 p. M. Wednesday are shocked to learn the man arrested near the cnn loadi ining dock, allen mar was given a misdemeanor citation for simple assault and released back on the street. Victim four says she cant believe the person who punched her in the face was back on the street within hours. One of the thing that is shocked me, i never understood. Its very hard to find it. This person just out of the blue hits people in the face. Reporter the Police Report says other victims suffers lacerations and needed medical treatment at the scene. Victim four says the mans behavior was violent after he was arrested. We could identify him in the back of a police truck. Flailing and screaming. The fire chief wants paramedics certified as firefighters and firefighters to get training in advanced life support and save people in crisis. The president of a Group Representing paramedics says this will waste money and make the quality of service worse. These are sole Service Medics or medic specialists. Cats, like dogs require enrichment and play. Many people dont realize that.
