A local judge tried to explain his decision to release a murder suspect who bolted and triggered a weekend manhunt. Chris gordon has been breaking news on this since last week. What did you learn today . Well, wendy, the same judge who released that murder defendant last week today added an emergency hearing today. The judges action today eases at least partially the pain that the family of the murder victim in this case has been going through. Patricia harris came to court sharing the saddens causeness caused by a judges decision for releasing the defendant. I wasover whelmed that the Justice System and this great Montgomery County had failed my son. The judge said he didnt have the right Information Available to him last wednesday when he ordered the defendant released to home detention. He is charged with first degree murder in the death and robbery and death of harris. The judge sent him back to jail saying he didnt know about the prior criminal record when he ordered his release last week. The detectives who worked the harris case came to show support. I think its a testament to the effort they put into the case and their feelings for the Harris Family and how serious of an issue this is that this person was let out on bail. One of patricias closest friends know her pain only too well. Her son was killed in a homicide 21 year ace go. Seeing her go through this has been the most painful thing to see her go through what i went through. The judge actually had all the information that he needed to make an informed decision last week when he according to them, mistakenly released this defendant to go back to the streets.
