Up first tonight, haguestown Community Leaders gathered for a vigil for jack garcia, the little boy beaten to death for eating a piece of birthday cake. It included music and blue ribbons in his honor. It was also to raise awareness about child abuse. Darcy spencer is live with details. Reporter jim, the death of this little boy has shocked the haguerstown community and beyond, a life taken over a piece of cake. Residents decided they had to do something, so they gathered tonight to remember jack at hagerstown city park. Those attending wanted to raise awareness about child abuse. A pastor led the group in prayer and hundreds of candles were lit. Everyone wore blue ribbons in jacks name. Blue is the color designated for child abuse prevention. Jacks mothers boyfriend handcuffed him and beat him for taking that cake. Charges could be upgraded. Jack was found with cuts and bruises all over his body. He died after the assault. Tonight, we spoke with the woman who organized the vigil. Im a mother and i wanted to make sure this child was honored in the right way. Im tired of seeing this in the news. Its here. Its real. And three cases in the past few months. Weve got to change. Weve got to do something and come out as a community. We have to make a change. Reporter a lot of tears there tonight at that vigil. Residents tell news4 they received an email saying a man visiting the building had been shot. It happened just steps from the Noma Gallaudet metro station where a man was stabbed to death on the fourth of july. We came in and we heard there was a shooting. They sent emails out and its a little concerning. We live on the floor below what happened. You think you live in a safe neighborhood until Something Like this happens. Tonight, management of the building sent another email saying they have contracted Security Services to patrol the Apartment Building and said it was an isolated incident. Relief for the family of two young boys who disappeared from their home early this morning tonight, police tell us benjamin and jacob molina have been found. We posted their pictures on our Facebook Page and you shared it more than 3,000 times along with well wishes for the family. The boys are okay were happy to report. A massive fire at a vfw post in front royal is under investigation tonight. The colonel Samuel Millar building is destroyed. The fire started around 1 00 saturday afternoon. It went to three alarms. A firefighter was knocked unconscious after falling to the pavement. They kept him in the hospital overnight for observation. Officials tell us the damage is set at more than 500,000. Neighbors said there was a party in a house inside the development. There had to be at least 300 people in there. You couldnt even get past here really. It was cars on both sides. Reporter some residents were unable to get into the development because of the crowd. Some residents were stuck out on the highway. They called the police, and the dispatcher could they see weapons . At that time of night nobody is going to be able to respond to that kind of question. Reporter within an hour, a man laid dying and that question was answered. We could see right now weapons were there. Reporter the signs state that this area is under camera surveillance and access is restricted to residents and guests. Residents say this house is often the scene of loud and large parties. Its become a problem spot in the community. Neighbors want changes to the covenant in place and to the way police handle complaints. They would like a response instead of questions. Do you see any weapons . Can you tell me who they are . Thats not the kind of response that a neighbor who is paying taxes should be receiving from the local Police Department when theyre trying to disburse a rowdy crowd. Theres a new push in baltimore to help the city deal with the spike in violence. City leaders are establishing a war room to help agencies Work Together to fight crime. This war room will allow state and local agencies to work around the clock in a single location. Baltimores interim Police Commissioner says this will help focus on a small group of people responsible for a large part of the citys crime. The war room goes into effect immediately. Reporter when joaquin guzman, known as el chapo, was arrested in february of last year after a 13year manhunt, mexican authorities bragged he would never escape from their maximum security prison. But last night, he did escape in a daring, highly sophisticated sweep involving a milelong tunnel beneath the prison wall. A major embarrassment for the mexican government. They have no control over the powerful drug cartels that operate in their country. And they have no control over the system of justice and incarceration in their country. Reporter Authorities Say guzman was last seen on a Security Camera around 9 00 p. M. Entering a shower area in his cell at the high security prison near mexico city. From there, they say he slipped out of camera range through a 20 x 20 inch hard, claimed down a ladder then entered a tunnel that stretched for about a mile and went under the prison. It was supported by wood and pvc pipe, had a ventilation system and a small motor car. It surfaced in a farm field. Drug agents say it took lots of coordination and expertise.
