A masked gunman opened fire on two people who were leaving a corner store in philadelphia and police say a stray bullet from all of this also hit a 23yearold woman who was nearby. Action News Reporter Jeanette Reyes is live now at Police Headquarters with the latest in this investigation. Good morning, jeanette. Reporter tam, good morning. Police say these shots were fired at point blank range and now this morning one man is fighting for his life, two others recovering from gunshot wounds. That one woman, the only female victim were told was hit by stray bullets. This is video from the scene yesterday. This happened at 25th and sheridan in north philadelphia around 6 30 in the evening. Police say all three victims were standing on the sidewalk when the 24yearold was hit twice in the arm. A 23yearold woman was hit in the arm and back with a stray bullet and the third victim was struck in the head. That person, that man, is in critical condition. Detectives spent much of the evening looking over the corner store Surveillance Video hoping to identify the shooter. The two male victims were just standing just feet away from the shooter. When the shooter walked up, pulled a firearm and immediately fired numerous shots from point blank range. Reporter and the gunman was last seen running eastbound from the scene. No detailed description has been released of the gunman and at this point theres no motive. Reporting live at Police Headquarters, jeanette ray reyes channel6 action news. The crash happened on roosevelt boulevard near southampton road at 1 30. Police found drugs on the man. He suffered minor injuries. Hell be placed into custody once hes out of the hospital. Autopsies expected to be performed today on two people, one of them a Philadelphia Police officer found dead in a Port Richmond home. Friends say the off duty female officer did not show up to work yesterday. Another officer made the discovery at the home in the 2900 block of mercer street. Police say the 36yearold officer and her 42yearold male acquaintance had no obvious signs of trauma. Happening today, some students at a south Jersey High School planning to stage a walkout over a teachers suspension. Timothy locke was placed on leave last week. Administrators say a student became upset when locke raised questions at the School Following the Deadly School shooting in parkland florida. Many students and parents we spoke to are outraged over lockes suspension and are signing petitions to bring him back. If we dont have the right to talk about this controversial issue in our School System, then how are we ever going to move forward as a society let alone a School System . The 59yearold locke was unavailable for comment. The School District superintendent declined to discuss the matter at a public event last night. The principal has threatened to suspend any who take part in disruptions today. President trump says he would have run into that Florida High School where 17 people were shot and killed earlier this month even if he was not armed. Remarks came as the president continues to grapple with how top respond to the mass shooting. Reporter while President Trump argues forearming teachers he hammers away at the Deputy Scott Peterson branding him a coward and insisted he would have defended the school. I really believe i would run in even if i didnt have a weapon and i think most of the people in this room would have done that, too. Reporter peterson is fighting back say he never entered the school because he believed the gunshots were coming from outside. Trump continued to bash the Police Response to the shooting when he met with governors from across the country he revealed over the weekend he met with nra chief wayne laperriere but the president may be backing down from raising the purchasing age for semi automatic guns something the nra is against. In concept the president still supports it but in terms of legislation we would see what that looks like before we weigh in further. So, overall the forecast is for lots of sun. Nice conditions. Starting out a little chilly at 39 at 8 oclock but by noon youre up to 52 and were going for a high today of 57 degrees well above average. Average high 47 today. So, 10 degrees above in fact. 6 oclock temperature still pretty comfortable 51 degrees. Well be milder with a continued southerly flow at 58 degrees and there is some rain on radar but it probably looks like it holds off until perhaps later wednesday night and definitely the bulk of the next rain event coming in on thursday so one more day after today where you can get outside and enjoy yourself and temperatures are pretty good. On thursday, in the morning, there is the likelihood that some rain is starting to push into the western suburbs. Then as we move into and through the afternoon we do get some pockets of steadier rain and overnight into thursday night and friday morning, the rain fills in again and at this point the winds are picking up and on friday, were going to look at rain continuing at least through the morning and there might even be some back edge wet snow coming into the poconos and perhaps elsewhere across the region so were still looking at this storm system. Looks like it could wind up giving us one to 2 inches of rain. Right now most of the models are leading more like one but wind gusts especially overnight thursday and in through friday could be pretty strong. 30 to 40 miles per hour. Coastal flooding is an issue with that wind and lunar high tide. Maybe some beach erosion.
