Region pretty much as expected. As you take a look at Storm Tracker6 live double scan theres a little bit of snow up north around allentown and reading. Light for now, probably not having a big impact but youre going to want to slow it down if you see that. Steadier snow overtaking harrisburg and marching quickly towards the northeast. You might encounter in places like berks county before too much longer. The focal point is down to the south where we have in blue starting to push in and thats a mix of snow freezing rain and sleet and its extending over toward Atlantic City up through parts of south jersey, even areas in southern gloucester and camden counties now beginning to pick that up. Notice how farther south we have green on the radar. Thats warmer air trying to nudge its way up towards philadelphia and eventually well see that change from mixed precipitation to rain but at the outset obviously you do want to be careful just in case things get a little bit slippery. Theres a Winter Weather advisory in effect. It has been extended. Yesterday morning it was in lancaster i told you these counties would probably be added and they have been philadelphia, Lehigh Valley, new jersey counties including mercer down to other counties abutting the Delaware River and New Castle County delaware, these advisories will probably expire from south to north as we go through the morning. Up in allentown and easton you might be stuck with it into the afternoon and the poconos probably most of the day. Temperatures right now are below freezing. These numbers are going to jump and in awhile well show you how much milder its going to be later today. Well also have future tracker6 tracking that change from wintry mix to precipitation to rain. Karen, what are roads looking like right now. Our trouble spot of the morning has been the roosevelt boulevard extension. Even though its dry right there, were looking live here, if youre traveling northbound on the boulevard, we had an accident up near ridge avenue. That has just cleared. If you continue northbound youll hit an accident near wissahickon. Its currently blocking the off ramp boulevard northbound extension at wissahickon. We saw fire trucks with this earlier on. The action cam was on the scene, serious accident that injured two people here on the boulevard northbound on that northbound extension near wissahickon. Its been causing big problems this morning. You can city see that tree kind of smashed into a truck a terrible situation in the Nicetown Tioga section. We had not one but two accidents on the boulevard northbound. That one near wissahickon is still blocking the off ramp even though its dry right there so watch for in accident still blocking the off ramp. Vine street expressway no problems this morning. Ben franklin parkway at this point appears opened so no issues there but we know in the inner lanes the inner drives are going to be blocked once again starting about 10 oclock as they get ready for the big parade preparations. Currently dry through the region but well be watching for those preps later. Delaware county, this is i95 near the Commodore Barry bridge, no problems just yet. No snow but nearby we do have an accident on the Commodore Barry bridge itself eastbound. You see those speeds about 16 miles an hour, tam. Okay, thank you, karen. Its a very light precipitation. Its kind of even hard to tell what it is exactly. But the Winter Weather is starting this morning. Take a look. Were here along macarthur boulevard in Whitehall Township and traffic obviously still moving along just fine. Were just starting to see this very fine precipitation. But schools are starting to close in anticipation of icy conditions today. Within the past half hour or so Whitehall Copley schools allentown Public Schools bethlehem area schools are closed today. A few in bucks county as well. Were seeing council rock central bucks bensalem to name a few closed in anticipation of the wintry weather. Up here in the Lehigh Valley its supposed to be the worst of it, the Lehigh Valley and the suburbs. Salt on the sidewalks, the roads parking lots. Sleet and snow could affect visibility here in the Lehigh Valley if you have an early commute youre in good shape right now but things are supposed to get worse as the morning goes on. That changeover to freezing rain is expected to make things slick. So, you might want to leave a couple extra minutes as you head to work this morning. Reporter good morning, matt. They have no choice. This is less than 24 hours away. A little more than 24 hours but the good thing is they got a bit of a head start. The planning started even before the eagles won the championship but as far as putting all of this equipment up that started a couple days ago. Weve seen the large speakers, production trucks and the stage set up on the steps of the art museum. The closure is not in place just yet but you can be sure theyre on their way. Extra equipment to strengthen cell phone signals are already being installed for the millions of eagles fans who will descend upon the parade route come thursday. As far as security, there are not restrictions to what one can bring and there will be no security screenings but police warn that behavior seen on sunday night will not be tolerated. Well have people all over, on foot, in vehicles, in the air. Theyll be on bikes. Theyll be on horseback. Theyll just be all throughout the general parade route. Reporter septa says rides on the market frankford line and broad street line will be free all day. Trains will run every five to seven minutes. But its the Regional Rails many are talking about. Riders will need a special one day pass if youre not already a regular pass holder. Only 50,000 are being sold. Riders lined up at the station in paoli to get them. At 69th street station, people were finding them hard to come by. I got five of these one day passes for the Regional Rails. Theyre 10 each. Reporter was it hard getting them . Yeah because 93 only have they only have a limited amount. Im going to the parade me and my husband. Reporter how are you going to get there. We going to drive in her car. Reporter you are going to drive. We going to drive as close as we can get. Reporter how close you can get is really anyones guess. However when were talking about 3 Million People a lot of city officials because of that you are asking people to take public transportation. Driving is going to be possibly most likely a nightmare. They will have 14 jumbotrons set up from here to city hall so wherever you are you should be able to get a good look whether its through those large screens or here in person near the steps. School is important but its not, you know theres a lot of school days in your life and theres not theres not a lot of parades. Philadelphia public and archdiocesan schools are closed tomorrow. If we take that overhead view you can see in reading, allentown kind of splitting the difference between those two spots a little bit of snow is beginning to develop and out in harrisburg its even more pronounced snow and that is moving towards the northeast so you might catch a little bit of that. Farther south warmer air in the atmosphere. Thats that mixed precipitation of snow sleet and freezing rain. Have a concern especially in areas where its mostly freezing rain cause that can be real dicey on the roads. Looks the a. C. Expressway beginning to pick up some of that, 355 more of that and 95 as well. Philadelphia beginning to see a little bit of this. Then you see the changeover to rain farther south which will be inching its way north during the morning but for now anyway its starting to get a little bit slick out there. Taking a look outside we have sky6, cloudy skies over the Commodore Barry bridge. Precipitation here appears to be kind of light but do be careful if youre seeing it because it is of the frozen variety right now and heres why. Were at 31 degrees in philadelphia and wilmington. Still holding below the freezing mark. 29 in millville and up north in allentown, just 27 degrees as we see some of those snowflakes flying. Future tracker6 shows that you between now and 7 oclock were probably still looking at some of that mixed precipitation around i95. It will be snow building in to the north. And then by 9 oclock, still snowing up north with a wider area seeing that mixed precipitation and philadelphia probably starting to change over to rain. Little bit of a lull down south. By noon, rain starting to move back in across most of the region and changing to rain all the way up close to allentown, although into about midafternoon, one, 2 oclock we could still have some icing which he is to the Lehigh Valley so do be careful. Later in the afternoon its all rain. Whole thing gets off the coast by about 9 oclock or so tonight. So a wintry mix changing to rain today. Biggest impacts northwest of i95. Any time you have precip falling on your windshield slow it down. Morning improvement to the south to north. In the Lehigh Valley weekend see icing longer. On the ground coating to an inch maybe in and around i95 before that changeover and that gets washed away by the rain. One to 3inches outside philadelphia probably gets washed away by the rain. Three to 6 inches of snow may be harder to get rid of in the poconos. In the Lehigh Valley icy and wet, cold conditions a high of 35. Extra careful north of the region especially the Lehigh Valley. Down the shore, 53 its all rain and in philadelphia a quick mix changing to rain and forty six for the afternoon high. Your exclusive accuweather 7day forecast shows a high of 46 later today. Milder down south. Colder up north. And again that change from mix to rain from south to north through the morning olding holding on much longer in the Lehigh Valley. For the weekend we get up to 49 on saturday with some late day or night time rain possible. This is one of the spots in the radar where it looks like precipitation is just beginning. As we look outside live we see it not really affecting much of anything just yet so were watching this, its very light to start and perhaps not all of it reaching ground yet. Township line road is still blocked. We have this problem going on here in schwenksville. Watch for that near sykesville. An accident on collegeville road. New castle county allandale drive at owing goal town stanton road. An accident were hearing its serious with injuries on the scene. Another accident that has ems workers coming to the scene were hearing injuries here. Its really jamming up the Commodore Barry bridge eastbound here in chester. Cosbys lawyers said yesterday they would seek to postpone the trial which is scheduled to start in norristown on april 2nd. They would want more time to investigate claims from the 19 women prosecutors are seeking to call as additional witnesses. The judge is expected to rule next month on whether any of them will be allowed to testify at the retrial. The judge allowed only one other additional accuser to testify at cosbys first trial.
