We have rain through the area and this is really the best way to get the view of whats happening in your region. We can see the rain blanketing most of the area right now but i want to go in a little tighter because the cells closer to philadelphia has been stronger. Werey were seeing some heavy downpours. Through media we have some heavy cells that have worked their way north and theyre on the schuylkill expressway and weve seen near willow grove lansdale as well some heavy cells there. A little bit ago i was seeing lightning strikes. Im not seeing that at the moment but we may see more lightning with this a little later on through the day so be careful for periods of rain and some of it is going to be heavy. Certainly were on the mild side. Yesterday felt like spring. Its a day much like that again. 54 degrees right now in philadelphia. Even in the Lehigh Valley, were above our average high for this date already. The low 40s. 56 in millville. Thats and dover. Thats been the mild spot. And 51 degrees in atlantic city. And the Storm Prediction Center has placed our area in a risk for some damaging winds. I think its only going to be isolated. Were not going to see everybody with these winds Strong Enough to cause damage but i want to warn you when this front comes through and this heavy rain is moving through we could see some spots with gusts up to 40 miles an hour, matt. Were pointing to the Paoli Thorndale Regional Rail line because weve got issues on that line this morning. Amtrak wire problems mean no outbound service, no Service Coming out of center city on the Paoli Thorndale Regional Rail line and Inbound Service heading towards center city is only limited. So, this is going to be a big problem for those of you coming in from the main line this morning on the Paoli Thorndale line. Of course well keep you posted. I do expect that to also impact amtraks Keystone Service that heads out for harrisburg so, again, well keep you posted. As we have been with this crash on the schuylkill expressway westbound side between city avenue and belmont avenue, looks like now once again its confined to the right shoulder. They had the right lane blocked for a little bit. Looks like thats opened now but expect some slowing coming west of city avenue. Vine street expressway right by the schuylkill just up ahead there we had construction that closed the eastbound side of 76 overnight. Its reopened now. The crews do come back tonight coming up around 9 oclock. On the big picture not too bad so far along 95 or the roosevelt boulevard. And our truck fire coming in from Lancaster County on the eastbound turnpike by the Bowmansville Service Plaza has cleared so youre good to go there on this tuesday morning. Matt. Sounds good, matt. Thanks matt. A quick moving fire damaged two homes in west philadelphia. Firefighters have placed it under control. The American Red Cross telling me 30 minutes ago or so that two families are now without a home because of this fire and a third almost lost their home as well. Take a live look here behind me. The scene is pretty much wrapping up here. Firefighters are just about leaving but this all broke out around 2 45 this morning along hazel avenue near 58th street and 58th street is now back opened. But smoke was billowing out of the original home when firefighters arrived on scene. Red cross red paws was quickly called to assist. They tell me that two cats and one dog, they were rescued from this home. It took about 30 minutes to get it all under control. Again, the good news this morning is that no one was injured in this fire but two families are now without a home and there is some smoke damage to a third. Also breaking a 19yearold has died after a shooting in the citys olney section. Investigators heard the gunfire erupt around broad street and olney avenue at 12 30 this morning. Police say someone in a private vehicle took the teenager to einstein medical center. Surveillance cameras set up in the area captured the shooting. Police are now reviewing those videos and questioning witnesses. The shooter was spotted running away. And also right now police have a robbery suspect in custody that they say led them on a foot chase in northeast philadelphia. Police say the man crashed a car at woodhaven road and glen field street, then took off on foot. Investigators say they used the k9 unit to help in their search and to find a weapon. Police were not injured during the chase. People all across the Delaware Valley are still flying high proudly wearing green now that the eagles are headed to the super bowl. Happening today, jurors will continue to hear evidence against allentown mayor ed pawlowski during his corruption trial. Yesterday jurors heard secretly recorded tapes. Prosecutors say they show a pattern of this fourth term mayor selling his office by trading city contracts for campaign contributions. In one of the tapes, you hear him complain a donation is too small. There is a tsunami warning for much of the u. S. West coast after a powerful earthquake struck in the pacific ocean. The 8. 2 magnitude quake was centered 175 miles south of kodiak alaska where the star is. There are no reports of any damage. But there are tsunami watches for alaska, hawaii, british columbia, washington state, oregon and california. No word on those watches or when those watches and warnings might expire. Not the entire area. Were seeing some drier air punch in south and west. Were going to see periods of rain today but some of it is going to be heavy and if we take this closer look here with double scan, this is really the best way to show you exactly whats happening in your area. Yes, weve got some rain here in the Lehigh Valley and the city were in and out of it but i want to go in a little closer to this area because weve seen some pockets of heavy rain. Weve seen some lightning strikes in this region. Currently were seeing light rain in swedesboro and gibbstown and the city. The heavier cells that moved through the city are towards the north so were seeing it here broad street near jenkintown near willow grove as youre traveling in downingtown and coatesville some of those areas of yellow indicating some of the heavier pockets.
