Cold and weve got single digit temperatures in the northern and western suburbs. The big story, of course is the winter storm watch and that approaching noreaster and right now all coastal counties in delaware and south jersey are under a storm watch. This starts this evening, goes all the way until thursday evening and now an advisory has been added in the rest of the south jersey counties all the way up to the i95 corridor. And dover, delaware and kent county delaware also included. This is where most of the snow will likely fall. Although its possible that philadelphia and some parts of southeastern pennsylvania also get something. Ahead of all of this were actually looking at sunshine a little later this morning to start out. And then this cloud cover that you can see welling up and pushing north toward Raleigh North Carolina and into virginia shortly after that will start to overtake us and youre starting to see a little precipitation down south. The outer reaches of the noreaster related precipitation coming in our direction as well. For now ahead of all of this it is cold as karen mentioned. 12 in wilmington. Trenton dipped to nine and in allentown youre at five. Just 2 degrees in reading. Again, these are temperatures not wind chills. 24 a little bit better in cape may. Wind chills really not a factor this morning because winds are calm. As we go into the afternoon, though, things do get better. 26 degrees by noon. But by 3 oclock, 31. Still cold enough for a coat but not nearly as harsh as its been the last couple of days. 5 oclock 29. 7 oclock 27. You can see those clouds getting thicker as we go into the evening hours. And then we get the arrival of that noreaster and again, the wide view right now shows you that it really is beginning to generate a lot of precipitatio precip inland around South Carolina pushing into North Carolina and this low will be coming up the coast and again after about 11 oclock or midnight tonight well start to see some snow moving into the coast and probably pushing ihiduring the morning rush hour or maybe even before. Well have the latest model information on all of that coming up as well as snowfall projections. Karen what you got on the roads this morning. Well, its dry today. We have a lot of traffic problems nonetheless. Its because of the cold weather were seeing all these water main breaks. This is the latest one. Look how busy its starting to get in cherry hill on 70 eastbound. Thats our breaking news and the action cam is live on the scene showing us theyve got the cones set up. You see police there and as the action cam kind of pans the road you can see the left lane is blocked on 70 eastbound. And this is just past kings highway. So, you know its a busy area in cherry hill. And the problem is of course weve got water with these temperatures youve got ice, so there you can see the ice on the roads. Looks like theyve been trying to lay sand down because of it. So the left lane is blocked 70 eastbound with this water mainan cherry hill. And now that volumes building were seeing more traffic through this area and that left lane remaining blocked with ice. Heres another problem that weve been dealing with. Balligomingo road near front street, road starting to buckle with that water main break there. Other water main breaks in the area. Look how busy its getting. Weve got a house fire in the somerton section on richwood road near worthington road where youve got water youve got ice and theyve got ice on the road there. Woodland avenue we had a water main break here at old soldiers road. Shortly thereafter we saw an accident nearby and i think its one of those cases where you had water on the road and people may be driving a little too quickly and now theres ice there so watch for ice also in this water main break cheltenham avenue at coventry avenue. Were kind of seeing them pop up everywhere. An accident in horsham thats new on easton road at moreland avenue so a bunch of problems this morning but really water main breaks the biggest issue, tam. Thank you, karen. Lets keep talking about that because people are again waking up to no water or low water pressure for a second day even as crews have been working through the night to try to fix a big water main break in Montgomery County. Action News Reporter Jeanette Reyes is live along balligomingo road in West Conshohocken and jeanette, you say there is, though, cause for a little hope for people dealing with this. a little bit. And tam thats if everything goes as planned. Weve seen them put down the two clamps and the pipe just went down a few minutes ago. Take a live look behind me, progress is being made. Crews tell us it could be as soon as 9, 10 oclock this morning when service is restored. I know that since this morning the pressures have begun to build up and recover. Were hoping to be within a 24hour period we hope to be back up to full pressure and the leak repaired. Reporter nearly 24 hours after a major water main break, crews are still working here in West Conshohocken off of balligomingo road. The massive 30inch main burst yesterday morning causing the road to buckle and power lines to come down. The summer Wood Corporation buildings suffered flooding damage once that water came gushing downhill. Came through the building out the back door. Going to run off the generator and theyre going to have to work around the clock to get it fixed. Reporter if homes werent flooded they most likely saw loss of power and water service. About 1,000 customers saw their Service Interrupted just after the main ruptured. We dont have Young Children in the house but i cant imagine if you know, for parents who do, i cant imagine the hardship. This is crazy. Reporter and about 50 homes are currently without water service. Others are seeing some discoloration in the water or lower water pressure, but officials are saying it is safe to drink. One thing i should mention is karen has been saying this, ive been saying this as well, the road did buckle so getting this road patched up might be a whole separate project in terms of adding more time. Well let you know on when service willfully restored and of course on the roads as well. Reporting live in West Conshohocken, Jeanette Reyes channel6 action news. Thank you, jeanette. This bitter cold has led to vehicles across the Delaware Valley to tell their drivers, sorry, im taking a nice long break. Cut it. Aaa says it responded to more than 2,000 calls for assistance just yesterday in the philadelphia five county area and most of those calls involved dead batteries. 32 degrees, youre looking about 35 percent of your battery life is gone and at 0 degrees youre looking at 60 percent of your battery life is gone. Mechanics recommend carrying a portable charging system in your vehicle plus check the air pressure on your vehicles tires. Cold air will condense, lowering tire pressure as the temps drop. Reports on Motor Vehicle sales Construction Spending and the minutes from the last fed meet regular all due out today. Thats the latest in biz. Stay warm guys. Well do our best. Stepping out your front door its not going to work. Not this morning. Its cold again to start out. We expected this. Things are going to moderate this afternoon and then we get a noreaster. Storm tracker6 live double scan right now shows you were starting out dry. As we take a look bit of frost on the windshield this morning. Otherwise sun is coming up a little later. Thats going to be good. And its cold to start out but the winds arent all that bad, so at least were notvere wind. However, look at these numbers. In allentown, were at just 5 degrees, just two in reading. Lancaster currently clocking in at 1 degree, so those northern and Western Areas are pretty raw. Trenton only at nine. Philadelphia 15. 12 in wilmington and 16 in dover. Again, things are goingbetter. Sun is going to be nice and bright to start out before these clouds down to the south in association with that forming noreaster come up and start overtaking us. And temperatures will wind up a little bit better later this afternoon. Sun giving wale to clouds in the Lehigh Valley. Not as harsh with a high of 28. Still coat weather but with winds lighter and temperatures a little bit higher today, thats not a bad change for us. Down the shore, 34 degrees, getting up above freezing for the first time in awhile. Sun to clouds there. Harsh in philadelphia. Sun giving way to clouds but a high getting up to 31 degrees, winds lighter, a good day to get out there and get things done especially as we break into the afternoon. Then overnight tonight its cold again, not as bitter as its been. Going down to 23 degrees. Lots of clouds around. And late tonight and in the overnight hours, well have snow arriving down the shore first and then pushing up toward i95. Winds are going to pick up, too, as the center of that noreaster gets closer to us. In terms of the snow, theres variation on the models as to how much we get but especially how far west and noworth pushes. The future tracker6 model right now is showing you between about midnight and 4 00 the snow pushing about halfway up to philadelphia then getting up closer to the regi b kicking the storm out very quickly and this model obviously right now is preferring a more are out to sea track that would not give us as much snow. Most models disagree, though. The euro is one of them. This actually pushes at least light snow all the way back into allentown and areas close to philadelphia, close to the shore in that one to 3inch range with three to six possible right down the shore. And that is more in range of what were thinking. With that disparity though its not a surprise that the model bar graph is so wide ranging. This 12inches, i wouldnt get too excited about it. That really looks like an outliar and the nam has not been going that high, its just this run. We think the one to 3inch range is more likely. A coating to an inch north and west. One to 3 inches in the center. Three to 6 inches down the shore. Keep in mind its all about location and there is at some point going to be a very sharp cutoff to the west so that some of you are really going to get ripped off and get practically nothing. Whereas youll jump very quickly up in those numbers to the east and 6inches at the shore would be possible. A track shift is always a big issue with any noreaster. A little shift closer to the coast and the numbers go up. A little shift out to sea and the numbers go down. Speaking of the sea, down at the shore, heaviest snow is down there, significant travel delays tomorrow morning and overnight. And wind gusts are going to be strong, blowing and drifting snow an issue. Your exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, today 31, not as harsh in the afternoon. Get out there and get it done. Tomorrow a snowy start, snow winding down in the afternoon, 29. And then another accuweather alert is in effect for friday and saturday because behind that growing noreaster as it really bombs out headed toward new england were going to get wraparound winds behind that that are going to be raw, bringing arctic air back in. 17 is fridays high. 15 saturdays high. Single digit overnight lows close to records. 24 on sunday but then 40 on monday, 42 on tuesday. Things are getting better. There will be a little mixed precipitation around then but 40s. The noreaster itself is beginning to form down south. You can see rain and also some mixed precipitation and some snow inland. All of this will be moving up the coast as a low gets off our coast laterprobably after at 11 oclock or midnight the coastal areas will start to see some snow. Weve got an accident in horsham creating problems. Horsham road at keith valley road and one on 611 at moreland avenue thats involving injuries on the scene. Outside live an accident on the schuylkill here eastbound at montgomery drive. Looks like three vehicles involved but its off to the side. Not creating too many delays just your volume building right here, matt and tam. Okay, karen, thanks. Breaking right now, firefighters have just got the upper hand on a blaze in philadelphias somerton section. This is the action cam shot live here. Broke out about an hour ago on the 1300 block of richwood road. Looks like it damaged that home there. The red cross is helping two families that had to be evacuated. There are no reports of any injuries. Crews in Montgomery County have been working through the night to fix a water main that first broke more than 24 hours ago and the problem persists. Action News Reporter Jeanette Reyes is live along balligomingo road in West Conshohocken with an update. Good morning, jeanette. Reporter good morning, matt. The goal is to get this fixed in 24 hours. Were now at 25 but this is some tough stuff. Its also complicated. There were downed wires, the road was buckling and the temperatures are frigid. Take a live look behind me. I want to zoom in on the front end loader there. Its lowering the middle segment so the pipes that it is replacing and it is just about where they want it but keep in mind they also have to fix the road and that in itself can take quite some time. Nearly 24 hours after a major water main break, crews are still working here in West Conshohocken off of balligomingo road. The massive 30inch main burst yesterday this morning causing the road to buckle and power lines to come down. The summer Wood Corporation building suffered flooding damage once that water came gushing downhill. Flooded everything out here. Came through the building and out the back door. Were going to run off a generator and theyre going to have to work around the clock to get it fixed. Reporter if homes werent flooded, they most likely saw loss of power and water service. About 1,000 customers saw their Service Interrupted just after the main ruptured. Reporting live in West Conshohocken, Jeanette Reyes channel6 action news. All right, thank you, jeanette. Broken water mains are becoming a common sight around the region. Well be on the air starting overnight, the Mega Millions jackpot jumped again with no big winner last night the prize now stands at 418 million. Here are the numbers. One, 42, 47, 64, 70, the mega ball 22. The next drawing is on friday. Lottery players can try for another giant jackpot tonight. The powerball even bigger at 440 million. Get the result tonight during n news at 11 00. All right, lets turn to dave murphy now talk about how cold it is and the coming snow. Coming snow later on tonight and especially tomorrow morning. Storm tracker6 live double scan right now shows us that we are dry. Taking a look outside, we have clear skies overhead and you can see how the sunshine is in. But unfortunately we are starting out very cold. Not much wind. Not a lot of wind chill to talk about. T 15 degrees in philadelphia. And those winds southwest at five giving you a wind chill of eight. It really isnt that impactful but again, you are going to want all those extra layers and the extra gear early. Thinas we go through the day. For now though just 5 degrees in allentown, 9 degrees in trenton, just two in reading. 12 in wilmington and 24 in cape may. As we roll through the day, though, things do improve. 15 degrees by 8 oclock but by 10 oclock, 21. And after being stuck in the 20s for the last several days, 26 degrees by noon, we will get up to a high of 31 degrees and with winds on the light side, it should be a lot less harsh than its been the last several days, so better in the afternoon, not a bad day to go out and get stuff done. 28 is your high in allentown, 28 in trenton, 29 in reading. 31 in wilmington. 32 in millville and a tad above the freezing mark in both cape may and up the coast in atlantic city. The big story of course comes tonight and it now looks like were going to have a delay in the arrival ofprecipitation. By about 10 00 to midnight most models having snow moving in and then the latest run on future tracker actually holds this pretty far away from philadelphia by about 6 oclock. And then whole lot in the city. This is not the only model, though. The euro has a much different picture for you. By 1 00 in the morning were already seeing snow pushing up close to wilmington. By 4 00 a. M. , past philadelphia. And then after that by 9 00 a. M. , at least light snow all the way up to allentown and some steadier stuff down the shore. Then it looks like this wraps up at some point during the middle of the afternoon. Were liking this sort of scenario better than the first one but its no surprise that as you take a look at the model theres a wide disparity in how much snow we think were get. The north american has been kind of up and down. I think thats an outliar right now and probably not close to whats actually going to happen. I would be surprised or wouldnt be surprised if this came back down in the next couple of runs. We are liking this one to 3inch projection for philadelphia and then a bit more down the shore. So heres what were going for for now. Were estimating about a coating to an inch on the northern and western suburbs.
