Start the new year. We have this accuweather alert that just seems as though it will not end. Dave murphy has more on that and karen rogers has your traffic. Good morning. Good morning. Im so excited. All four of us together. I know. Starting a new year. Yay nice. Its been awhile, too. I wish the weather was nice. Yeah. Lets take you to the weather center. Well get plenty of sunshine. You can see cloud cover off the coast. Another little batch coming in from the west. That will probably pretty much break apart off to the west and like yesterday, the temperatures will really be the story along with that wind chill. Right now were at 13 degrees in philadelphia. These numbers a little better than yesterday but still very raw. 11 degrees in allentown. 12 at this hour in trenton. 12 in wilmington. 12 in millville. 16 in cape may. Even though the winds arent quite as strong were looking at severe wind chills. Feels like 1 degree below zero in philadelphia, three below zero in allentown, four below zero in reading, two below zero in wilmington. Zero on the nose in trenton and millville and 1 degree is your current wind chill in that cape may. You want to bundle up and cover up especially if youll be outside for an extended period of time this morning. And as we go into the afternoon, a bit of an improvement over new years day but still not that great. 21 degrees by noon. 24 by 2 oclock. I am going for a high of 26 at about 3 oclock or so this afternoon. But at the same time the winds which will still be running about eight to 16 Miles Per Hour will still be a issue. Were going 10 to 15 on this graphic but i think it actually could pop up a little bit above that. In any event, your wind chills by about 2 oclock are still only at 12 and holding on or about that for the rest of the afternoon. So, wind chill temperatures still severe. Still got to bundle up. Looks like we got a noreaster coming for wednesday night into thursday morning. It will probably be far enough off the coast to just kind of give us a brush by but these storms are always looking at you with that many second scenario and karen rogers will take a look at what we think were going to get from that wednesday night into thursday coming up. All right. For now were watching the traffic. Looking outside live here this is the schuylkill expressway near gladwyne westbound traffic headed towards conshohocken. Youve got a car off to the side. But everything is clear and looking fine right here. This is the spot of that big accident saturday morning with that many light snowfall that had the schuylkill shut down and you can see as youre heading out now no problems out there. Looking good here on the boulevard extension. Thats your southbound traffic headed towards the schuylkill. We do have a disabled vehicle southbound heading towards the schuylkill. It is in the gore point. Watch nor right now. Also this water main break. Well have problems with this with the extreme cold weve been seeing. Certainly youll have issues with icing on the roads. This is a residential area northeast philadelphia, minden road at medford. Stick to lester road and dunks ferry road as your alternate. You see congestion in south philadelphia. No congestion here at vine street expressway all lanes and ramps are opened. No overnight construction scheduled at all this week so youre good to go at least on the vine tam. Thank you, karen. Maybe some of you slept in yesterday but this is what youre looking at this morning and its similar to what we saw yesterday. Temperatures in the teens and even below the teens in some spots and of course when you factor in a light wind it feels like its below zero across much of the region. Well have your afternoon forecast and were tracking possible snow for wednesday night into thursday for at least parts of the region. Its all ahead. Pro tip giant has great prices on produce. Including people right here. Uh, yeah. Theres no hiding anymore. The holiday is over. There is not. Yeah, i guess a couple of people went down there and braved the elements for the mummers. I watched a lot of parade. Looked like they were having fun but boy everybody was bundled up. Got to keep moving today. More of the same today. Were dry. Taking a look outside, we have a very cold picture of the river rink down near the Delaware River and you can see the camera shaking a little bit as the winds are kicking up and right now, well, its maybe not quite as uncomfortable as it was this time yesterday but close. Currently in philadelphia just 13 degrees. Your dewpoint down below zero an indication of that bone dry air. Skin is probably going to be itching a little bit today if youre not applying the moisturizer. Wind chill making it feel like 1 degree below zero. At least its going to be sunny. You can see cloud cover off the coast and this stuff out to the west probably falling apart for the most part. Temperatures are pretty brutal. Allentown just 11 degrees, 12 in trenton, 12 in millville, 16 down in cape may and there are those wind chills just about everywhere close to zero and below zero in a lot of spots. Out in lancaster 7 degrees below zero right now. Thats what it feels like as you head outside. Heres where were going this afternoon. By 10 oclock, were at 17. By noon, 21 degrees. And we did get a high of 20 yesterday. Today well do a little bit better with that high of 26 around 3 oclock but its still going to be brisk and cold with those wind chills holding in the Single Digits for most of the day, maybe getting up into about the 10 to 11degree range later on. Highs today, lots of sun but bitter cold, a high of 24 in allentown, 23 reading, 26 in philadelphia and wilmington. 25 in millville and 28 in cape may. And again those wind chills will be a factor throughout the day heading up above negative territory to about an 11degree wind chill on this model by noon in philadelphia. Worse up in the northern suburbs and some more rural areas and even by 6 oclock, youre looking at wind chills not much better than about 10 and then sagging a little bit by 11 30 so bundle up all the way. Got a noreaster coming wednesday night into thursday. And as is almost always the case with these storms, a little shift in track makes all the difference. The good news is that most of the tracks have this storm far enough out to sea where its not a major impactful storm on us. Track one would just give us several inches as it cuts right about here. And most of the coverage would be in south jersey and delaware. Track two would take this storm farther out to sea and in that case we would just get a brush right down at the coast. Having said that we do have a lot of Model Variety as we usually do. Theres the arrival of this any time after about 9 oclock at night on wednesday, 8, 9 oclock down the shore. Up to 4 30 in the morning you can see how the snow overtakes a good portion of the region on that model but in terms of how much we get, wide range in philadelphia. The rpms a little bit high, want about 5inches. Were thinking its more along the. 2 or maybe an inch or so. If youre down the shore this is the airport in atlantic city. This is where the impact could be a little bit higher. Again, a wide disparity. This is obviously the projection track where it would be farther out to sea. These two models think its going to be closer and some actually do argue quite a bit of snow down along the shore. So, well see. Right now were going with the idea of more like a one to 3inch accumulation mainly over toward the east. Brisk still very cold today. 26 degrees. And then wednesday, that is the afternoon where you can get outside and get things done a little bit more comfortably. A high of 31. Still a little below freezing but not nearly as harsh. Then we have accuweather alerts for thursday, friday and saturday. On thursday its because weve got that noreaster coming through wednesday night into thursday. And we could get some snow in parts of the region as you just saw. A high of 29 degrees. Weve got the red bar on friday and saturday because behind that storm another shot of bitter cold air arrives. Frigid again on friday with a high of 16 degrees. Saturday more bitter cold, a high of just 17 and those overnight lows of five and four are both very close to record lows for this time of year. And on those dates. Then on sunday its still brisk and cold but a little better with a high of 23. By monday were back up to 38 but theres the possibility at times during the day of a bit of snow and snow flurry activity if we get to 38 it would kind of be kind of wet snowflakes. Okay, thank you david. Yeah. And breaking right now, water main shattered a short time ago in the parkwood section of northeast philadelphia. Its a tough situation.
