No. Happy new year. Happy new year to you, too. Thanks a lot, you know. Lets go live on sky6. Now, this is where they like the cold air, the ski resorts. We are live on sky6 taking a look at Spring Mountain ski resort where the lights are on, the fire is blazing and there are a few snowboarders and skiers out there braving the cold. Now, i shared this photo that chris posted on my Facebook Page from villas, new jersey, showing the delaware bay, a lot of ice, freezing over thanks to the deep freeze that we are in. And theres more cold air to come. So, the accuweather highlights show you the next two days it stays cold, below freezing but not quite as harsh as today. Then im tracking a possible noreaster on thursday and behind that system we get even colder air for the weekend, possibly record cold on saturday and sunday morning. Sole, right now its pretty cold out there. 18 degrees in philadelphia the air temperature, our high only 20. The third coldest new years day on record. Allentown 13. Trenton 16 and cape may 20 degrees. But of course we all know its not just the air temperature, its the wind chill. If you take a look, it feels like seven in philadelphia right now. Two in allentown. One in lancaster. Feels like 7 degrees below zero in the poconos. Now, the good news is the winds will be diminishing overnight but the cold air is going nowhere fast. Satellite and radar showing the broad area of high pressure, its keeping us dry but this is arctic high pressure, so this is keeping us in the deep freeze. So, tonight clear skies, great viewing for the supermoon. The first one of two this january. The next one is january 31st. It will appear 6 percent bigger and 14 percent brighter than your average full moon. Its already risen really bright and beautiful. 11 in philadelphia, six in allentown. Wilmington nine. Cape may 16. But the wind chill dropping down to zero to 5 degrees below zero. So, future tracker showing 7 oclock tomorrow morning when a lot of people are heading back to work, kids heading back to school, the wind chill 1 degree below zero in philadelphia, six below in reading. As we head around lunchtime, wind chills generally in the Single Digits and by the afternoon, theyll be rising up into the teens. So, still very cold but again, not as harsh as today. Then on thursday, this is what im tracking. Theres low pressure that will really be exploding across the northern bahamas, a significant storm but where does it track . That is the key question. If this low pressure tracks close to the coast, this means several inches of accumulating snow. But some models bring it a little bit farther to the east. If that happens, that snow would just brush the shore. Still getting in new information and i will have month are more details on action news tonight at 11 00.
