A tractortrailer overturned shortly after 7 oclock this morning along the ramp to 95 north from the blue route. The 32yearold driver lost control, flipping the truck onto its side. Investigators say he is being treated at crozer hospital for minor injuries. The crash blocked the ramp for about three hours. It was reopened around 10 30 this morning. All right, hoping for a smoother go as we head into the evening commute and get a first check on the action news traffic report. One could hope. Lets go live to matt pelman in the action news traffic center. Hey, matt. Its good to try and keep hope alive but im probably here to dash those hopes, at least for drivers along 95 unfortunately were off to a really rough start this evening as well, brian and sharrie, these are the northbound lanes of 95 at Bridge Street and its a messy crash taking out three of the four lanes. You can see traffic just barely squeezing by on the right side of the roadway. And right now its an hour and 20 minutes, more than five times what it should be to get northbound on 95 from the vine up to woodhaven. Yes, that is not a good start. Delays from 95 are spilling back onto the vine jammed solid from the schuylkill out 295. Westbound side of the vine doesnt look a whole lot better with a sea of red brake lights. Those vine delays spilling back onto the schuylkill just 7 Miles Per Hour on the westbound side so really having the domino effect all because of that northbound accident on 95 by Bridge Street. I would think alternates like frankford avenue or the northbound boulevard this afternoon. As you head toward the boulevard on the westbound schuylkill theres a tractortrailer accident, that luckily is off to the side and using the city avenue bridge to get to the schuylkill theres a crash there as well. A vehicle pretty badly banged up. You can squeeze by but its causing restrictions. 42 southbound extra heavy coming off the walt whitman bridge. Well check it again, brian and sharrie, coming up next half hour. Civil rights activist Jesse Jackson reveals a disorder that hes been battling for two years now. I take my job on the road for one of these adventures but this one yesterday was extra special. A little bit farther and it started very early in the morning but it was really worth it. The day started at 6 00 a. M. As our winners loaded the bus. First up breakfast. I stayed up last night and made you all a homemade chi cinnamon bunt cake with a brown sugar icing. Are you hungry. Serving on the bus isnt easy but thankfully it was a hit. Do you own a bakery. I dont. You need to open one. Its delicious. Once at the studio we chilled in the green room had snacks and took pictures. 20 minutes before show time i caught up with the cohost backstage and they raved over philly starting with our history. We did just that around the table for pictures and a little chitchat an sweater whoopi wore she gave to it a big fan in our group. Im going to wear it to work. Hey, guys. Head to the Weather Center and the holiday also not that far away either. Were counting down to thanksgiving which is only six days away, so its closing up pretty quickly and of course the big thanksgiving day parade so as we take a look at that Holiday Outlook going into next week, below average temperatures. Should be in the 40s for the actual holiday. But High Pressure is going to be in control, so even though its cool, its fine cause High Pressure means sunshine, dry with light winds and at this point, the parade balloons will be a go without any of those strong winds. As we look at the temperatures right now, 50 in philadelphia. 50 in millville. Wilmington 50 degrees. 40s to the north and west and take a look at that cooldown. The wind chill up in the poconos right now 27 degrees as we get into your friday evening. A few high clouds streaming in from the north and west. This is all ahead of a warm front that will come through tomorrow. Its back towards chicago with some light showers, so overnight tonight, 31, in trenton 27, allentown 28 in reading, 31 in millville. Partly cloudy skies. But those winds we had today, they will kind of die off as we get into the overnight. As we look at tomorrow morning, saturday, those clouds quickly race in, maybe see a little bit of filtered sun first thing in the morning. In the afternoon, 3 30 you start to see some of that rain coming in with the warm front first and then as we get into the evening hours, there may be a break in the rain and then another steadier round of rain with the actual front in the wee hours of sunday morning. That kicks off the coast 8 oclock sunday morning and then another concern comes in for that marathon sunday morning and that will be those winds really whipping up. As we look at that four day at 4 00 forecast, afternoon showers tomorrow, 55 degrees for the race in the morning, 45 miles an hour wind gusts, 54 for a high but there could also be a couple of lingering showers at the beginning of the marathon sunday morning but its a cold wind and then brisk, chilly, 48 on monday and much milder come tuesday, 58 degrees and well show you that seven day for thanksgiving and the big travel day, sharrie, in the next half hour. Investigative reporter chad pradelli live with brand new details about recent fire safety violations right there at the barclay friends assisted living facility. Its 4 30 and action news continues with an update on breaking news that we have been following closely from west chester. Within the last hour authorities released new details on this massive and destructive fire that consumed much of the barclay assisted living facility. That fire sparked around 10 30 last night and spread very quickly. Witnesses say the building seemed to be engulfed within two minutes leaving little time to evacuate. We now know there were at least 160 people inside at the time including staff and many senior citizens. We also know that at least 27 people were hurt but that number could well rise. Officials say theyre still trying to account for everyone who was inside at the time but its simply too dangerous right now to go back in the buildings. The mayor of west chester says hes extraordinarily proud of the citys reaction to those in need including Police Officers who were first on the scene. Squad pulled about 15 people out of very heavily burning building. Im very proud of how our community has come together during this tragedy. Its obviously a very large human cost to Something Like this. Well, as officials work to determine if there was any loss of life, a Specialized Task force is working to determine what sparked the blaze and if it could have been prevented. For more on that part of the story we turn to chad pradelli live in west chester. Chad we understand this facility has actually had some recent safety citations. Reporter yes, the facility was cited for fire safety violations as recently as february. Now, a facility like this is required to have Fire Suppression systems in place. This was a five alarm fire. This fire engulfed the building raising the question what happened . Action news has learned that the department of health cited barclay friends for fire safety violations in recent years. In february, building Safety Inspection reports state the facility failed to protect openings with sealant. Fire caulking helped prevent the spread of flames. Safety reports also reveal that the facility was cited for broken sprinklers in emergency exits and halls were blocked in recent years. A critical question is whether Fire Suppression systems worked properly. It is still an Ongoing Investigation so i cant speak to that specifically. Reporter investigators say they will know more once theyre able to get into the gutted building and begin investigating. A team of dozens of federal and local authorities will be involved. They dont yet know the origin and cause of the fire. We have a laboratory in maryland not far from here at all and the county facility, so well have the full support from all those folks. Reporter and according to Pennsylvania Department of Health Inspection reports, all of the violations were corrected quickly. Now, weve made repeated calls to a spokesperson for barclay friends. Our phone calls have not been returned. Im live in west chester, chad pradelli channel6 action news. All right, chad, thank you. A proposal to create a gun registry for gun offenders in delaware will not be moving forward. The gun offender registration act would have required all wilmington residents convicted of gun crimes to register with the City Police Department within 10 days of their release. Anyone who failed to comply would have faced fines or jail time. The proposal was meant to address wilmingtons growing gun violence problem but city council defeated the measure over concerns the bill would have punished those who already have served their time. Well, for most of you the weekend begins in, what, just about 27 minutes and it feels really good. Yeah. For the rest of us well have to wait until tomorrow. Meteorologist adam joseph now here with more on our weekend forecast. Somebody is already counting down over there. Thats both of us. 26 minutes now. All right, keep it going. As we take a look outside, it is not bad out there right now compared to yesterday when we were talking of winds yesterday, we had wind gusts in the afternoon around that 30, 35 miles an hour range. Right now sustained 10, 13 miles an hour, so were relaxing that wind and that will be the case as we get into our friday night. We take a live look right now, sky6 at penns landing, you can still see a little bit of ripples there along the delaware with some of that that wind but you also can see a little glow as you look towards camden, new jersey. And thats that sun lower on the horizon right now and as we head into the weekend, a big weekend in philadelphia, Half Marathon and the rothman 8k tomorrow morning, its going to be chilly at 39 degrees, mostly cloudy, dry. Winds six to 12 miles an hour but sundays full marathon that 50 is very deceiving. Again, if youre headed toward the schuylkill or toward city avenue coming off lincoln drive or kelly drive theres a crash taking out the left lane on the city avenue bridge southbound and in east falls a broken down vehicle along schoolhouse at ridge right there by alibaba limousine. Delays on the schuylkill heading toward the vine. Its not looking pretty on this friday afternoon especially on the eastbound side. We are just at a crawl from 76 out to 95. Thats again because of that northbound accident on 95 at Bridge Street thats now off to the side but damage is done. Northbound travel time still just under an hour which is about four times what it should be as you come northbound on 95 from center city up to woodhaven road. Southbound we had a gaper delay here by cottman. Luckily thats thinning out. Southbound on 95 isnt so bad. But southbound on 295 coming out of Burlington County into camden county, extra slow at 37 minutes because there was a crash along the white horse pike now on the shoulder. Well check it again, brian and sharrie, coming up in the 5 oclock hour. Busy friday. Yeah. All right, matt, thank you. Take a live look outside on this friday evening. Sky6 giving us a beautiful view over the Commodore Barry bridge as sun sets on this friday evening. Meteorologist adam joseph coming up with that exclusive accuweather 7day forecast next. Meteorologist adam joseph with the all important weekend accuweather forecast. It is. We have a lot of people coming into town for the marathon weekend both saturday and sunday. So, a little pressure on our shouulders here. Not perfect but well try to eke out most of it dry as we take a look right now at the Weather Center live on sky6 take a look at this shot again from the Commodore Barry bridge with that little bit of a glow of pink in the sky as the sun is about to set. We have a little bit of cirrus clouds out there in a few spots but overall a nice start to our friday evening. Temperaturewise right now 50 degrees philadelphia, millville and wilmington, 48 in allentown, 49 degrees in trenton and that wind is starting to calm down a little bit so were not seeing much of a wind chill in the city of philadelphia or points south and east. It is down into the lower 40s for the lehigh valley, reading right now, lancaster the same temperature but these numbers will start to come down overnight even though the wind relaxes, were really going to cool it off by saturday morning. Theres some of those high clouds coming in from the north and west ahead of a warm front that comes in during the day tomorrow, so its broken in nature now but those clouds are going to really win out tomorrow and eventually we do get wet here tomorrow afternoon. So, for tonight, partly cloudy, again those winds relaxing and those temperatures crashing. 27 in the suburbs by the morning, 35 degrees for center city. But the good news here, even though the temps are cold, those winds will be light and variable. We take a look at future tracker here first thing tomorrow morning those clouds quickly coming in maybe a little bit of filtered sun if youre up very early in the morning, you could see some rain and mixed snow in northern parts of pennsylvania in the morning. As we get into the afternoon tomorrow, about a quarter to threequarters of an inch of rain from tomorrow afternoon to sunday morning. So, it does turn wet tomorrow afternoon, so think about that if you have outdoor plans. Morning dry, afternoon damp and as we get into the evening tomorrow, theres going to be a bit of a lull as that warm front lifts to the north and then some steadier rain comes in in the wee hours of sunday morning. This is at 3 oclock that the morning. The question is can this move out in time for the start of the marathon on sunday morning . Future tracker showing the rain is quickly out of here but other models are saying it could hold back until about 8 oclock, so well have to follow that for early on sunday morning but the one thing that you will feel on sunday is the winds. The winds will be sustained between 17 and 25 miles an hour with gusts to near 45 miles an hour so if youre a runner, youll get a little bit of tail wind, head wind i did that race last year so its kind of all over the place with the winds but for a spectator definitely want to wear many layers cause its going to feel very chilly on sunday morning and then next week for your travel, tuesday great day. Looks to be dry. Wednesday there could be some showers around to slow down some of that travel time. But thanksgiving itself, its a go here, dry and green. As we take a look at the exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, afternoon showers developing tomorrow, 55 degrees. Its windy on sunday but drying out, 54 degrees. But again, you got to factor in that wind chill with that 54. Brisk chilly monday, 48. Bump it up to 58 tuesday, looks great. Early showers wednesday, drying late in the day of 54. And light winds for the parade here in town. 46 degrees is a bit chilly but at least its dry. And then on friday partly sunny, 50 degrees looking pretty good as we go into black friday as well, guys.
