A Wounded Police officer had to be rushed to the hospital after a struggle with the suspect. Reporter the officer was lucky that the bullet did not hit a major artery in his leg. His fellow officers acted so quickly to stop the bleeding. This morning a Camden CountyPolice Officer is recovering from a gunshot wound after being shot at pointblank range last night. You can imagine what the family is feeling and going through at this point in time. You can imagine that the officer has a tremendous amount of emotions going through him. I reassured the officer that were hear for him. Reporter Authorities Say around 10 00 p. M. , the first year officer approached 3 men on the 900 block of cheltenham avenue that he considered suspicious. As he walked toward them one made a run for it. A short chase ensued. The unidentified officer caught up with the suspect when the suspect reached for a gun and a struggle begins. He shoots the officer at pointblank range in the thigh and barely missed the artery. Fellow officers applied a tourniquet to the officers wounds. He was rushed to Cooper University hospital where he remains in stable condition with nonlife threatening injuries. Our officers interpreted him and taken off the street with the gun, probably would be a lot of worse events taking place tonight. Im proud of officer and the fellow officers is that responded. Reporter we dont know much of the about the suspect only that he lives in the area. He has not been publicly identified by Police Officers. Katherine. Reporter matt, the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. The 75yearold passenger was pronounced at the hospital. 29yearold driver suffered internal injuries and she was undergoing surgery. Heres whats left. The vehicle was towed around 4 30 a. M. You can see a gaping hole in the side of this roofing warehouse here in hunting park. If you go to video you can see just the damage, the extent of the damage of the vehicle, the Police Tow Truck dragged it from the hole. The front of the car crushed, the air bags deployed. Shortly after 1 00 a. M. , the police were called out to rising sun avenue in hunting park after the 2014 dodge crashed into the side of warehouse. The 29yearold driver and the passenger were rushed to the hospital. Accident investigators were called in to gather evidence and piece together exactly what happened. Police say the dodge which was registered to the passenger had been going west on rising sun when the 29yearold driver lost control jumped the curb and smashed into the roofing warehouse. It crashed into the building with such force that it put a 5foot hole into the building, actually tore the Cement Siding and the bricks. The deadly shooting happened on lippen cot street near 16th at 1 00 p. M. A suspect was spotted running down north chadwick street no arrests were made. A proposal by the philadelphia mayor could lead to the end of the reform commission, mayor kenny plans to replace the src with a local school board pointed by him and approved by city council. The src was created in 2001 when the state of pennsylvania took over the public schools. Kenny is expected to outline his proposal in a speech this morning. What will happen is that the src will consider a resolution at its november meeting which is november 16th to recommend that they be dissolved. We have new information this morning on a deadly shooting inside a suburban denver walmart. A gunman walked into a store and opened fire killing three people. The shooting appears to be random. There are no indications that it was terror related. Witnesses say customers and employees hid or ran out of the store in the town of thornton. The suspect fled the scene. They are trying to identify the gunman. Video shows an alabama woman escaping from her kidnappers trunk. The kidnapper saw her get out and quickly left the store speeding off in the car.
