Now but they did take a lot of money from us. Reporter but say it all makes sense why they heard this. Dr. Nick who is the owner, hes as far as i know he was arrested by the u. S. Marshals. Reporter a records search indicates that both the locations in bustleton and willow grove are owned by dr. Mehdi nikparvar or as patients call him dr. Nick and he is in fact in federal custody. Arrested back in august on the 29th by the u. S. Marshals on a civil contempt charge. But agents say when he was being transferred from his practice to u. S. Marshals field office he made threats against the deputies and now hes facing more charges for that. Now agents wouldnt tell us exactly why they were making the raids here today in willow grove but neighbors we spoke with describe what they say was some very unusual activity happening here. I just seen lines of people in the morning waiting for the office to open. Reporter thats a woman who only gave us her first name of mary. She says its because of those long lines shes not surprised it was raided today. My concern was they were selling drugs out of the facility because typically you wont see a doctors officers have lines of people before they open. Reporter she has well as many neighbors say it was getting out of control. Box of wrappers we found in our backyard which is a couple blocks down. Reporter another live look at the office here. Again, so many neighbors we spoke with said it was right outside of that front door, a huge line would form of people trying to get in. Theyre so happy now something has finally been done. For now reporting live in willow grove, bob brooks, channel6 action news. Jim. Thank you, bob. The man accused of shooting six people in a twostate crime spree will be tried first in delaware. The Philadelphia Police department is getting 150 new vehicles for its fleet and all will be equipped with what are called ballistic shields. And in philadelphias case that will include bulletproof glass. Lets go live to Police Headquarters and action News Reporter john rawlins. John, it sounds beyond dispute that these vehicles will Keep Police Officers safer. Reporter well, theres no guarantees obviously but the sense is that the modifications made to these vehicles will lessen any threats, should someone try to ambush a Police Officer while that Police Officer is inside a patrol car. An armed gunman rushes and fires on a Police Officer in his patrol car. Two separate incidents in philadelphia last year remarkably both officer Jessie Hartnett and sergeant sylvia young survived being hit. Today the department unveiled its first patrol vehicles designed with the sort of unprovoked attacks the officers faced. Amazing that they survived both of those ambushes and we believe that ballistic protection like this would have probably protected them from any of those gunshots that were aimed at them. Reporter the new vehicles have two layers of protection placed over the steel door panels a ballistic shield painted to match the car while above whats dubbed as transparent armor backs about threequarters of the original equipment glass area in the front windows. The belief this modified front door is now resistent to pistol shots and shotgun blasts. Its cutting edge in the sense that it provides protection for Police Officers seated in the vehicle from gunfire. Reporter the protection package for the doors and windows adds about 1,300 to the cost of a patrol car, well worth it, though, says the commissioner given the evolving threats officers face. Certainly the mayor and myself believe that is one that is far worth it when you consider the state of the world that were in today and that weve seen multiple ambushes across this nation in the last couple years on uniformed Police Officers. Reporter well, the department has a patrol fleet of about 750 vehicles, plus 70 wagons. The first wave of these modified vehicles, 150 of the patrol vehicles and 10 wagons, so roughly 10 percent of the patrol fleet will have the modifications at this point in time. Reporter jim the biggest headline is the fact that the eagles can go to six and one. That would match their best start in 13 years. It has been a magical season thus far for the birds and it all starts with the quarterback. And carson wentz is playing really on top of his game and you got to remember this guy has only been in the league, this is his second season. Hes the number one quarterback in the nfl on third down and our Jeff Skversky had a chance a very nice rare opportunity to catch up with carson wentz oneonone. Reporter carson, you have talked about its your dream to play in the nfl and you want to have fun. Well, how much fun is this . You guys are five and one tied for the best record in the nfl. You have the number one jersey sales in the nfl. Talking about possibly m. V. P. All those things are great. Ultimately at the end of the day its all about wins and losses and were sitting five and one right now so were feeling good about that but we realize its a long road its a long road. The story of wentz and an eightyearold cancer victim from wilmington, delaware. Lets go live to lincoln financial field and action News ReporterSarah Bloomquist. Good evening, sarah. Reporter good evening, jim. Heres what happened. Our Sister Network espn aired a touching story about eagles quarterback carson wentz and a little wilmington boy named lucas kuster who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of eight. Lucas gave wentz a special wrist band and now eagles fans it seems all around the world are clamoring to get one of their own. Rebecca cant believe all the outpouring of support after the airing of the story about her son and carson wentz. Its overwhelming. Reporter in april 2016, the then eightyearold was diagnosed with a rare cancer. This rough and tumble kid was nicknamed the dutch destroyer and he was determined to fight. He was a force to be reckoned with and that was early on that nickname was given to him and it stuck. Reporter a year later, lucas cancer was thought to be in remission but then a new tumor was detected. Doctors said he would not survive this round of the fight. The eagles learned of lucas battle and wentz passed along a video of encouragement. Lucas wanted to thank his hero and visited the Novacare Center last may. Lucas wanted to give him one of his dutch destroyer bracelets. He took it out and he handed it to carson and that was sort of his way of saying thank you. Reporter lucas passed away a few days later. Wentz hasnt taken the wrist band off since even sporting it on game day. Now it seems every eagles fan wants one, too. Thousands sold in a single day. Weve received an overwhelming amount of support and its no surprise coming from eagles fans. So much deeper than football. Its so much more than just a game. Reporter now, after the espn story aired, there was so much interest the family scrambled last night to put together a web site to sell the wristband. As of 4 oclock this afternoon, theyve sold about 24,000 worth of the wristband. Theyre putting all that money to charity especially for pediatric cancer. Theyre doing it all on their own so they are asking for patience. Espn has invited the family onto the field tonight for another chance to thank carson wentz. You can find a link to the full espn story and the wrist band web site on 6abc. Com. Live at lincoln financial field, im Sarah Bloomquist channel6 action news. Jim. When youre a doubledipping pensionpadder like steve sweeney, its important to maintain a certain. Lifestyle. Thats why sweeney spent over a hundred grand of his Campaign Funds on highpriced meals and other gifts. Were talking fine cigars, fancy watches, pricey restaurants, and expensive wines all to charm the type of folks who helped him raise your taxes 145 times. Too many in south jersey are struggling. But steve sweeneys looking out for himself, not for us. Both the eagles and the redskins have grown a lot since that first meeting. Hopefully the eagles can continue to grow in the win column and get another w maintain that lead in the nfc east. The eagles have dominated on monday night football against the Washington Redskins over the years and they have dominated at home, too. The eagles are trying to keep it that way tonight. With the best record in football on the line. Lets go back live to the linc to Ducis Rodgers and jaime apody. Carson wentz and company can get off to their best start since the 2004 super bowl season. Well, when you put it that way its a biggy ducis and if you think about the fact that the eagles have a chance to bury the redskins, that makes this one even more important. Take care of business within your own division. Lets talk about the eagles star quarterback. That would be carson wentz. Wentz took the field a few moments ago for his pregame warmup. He has been playing at an m. V. P. Type level the past few weeks. Now, of course these two teams met in week one. The eagles won that game easily 30 to 17. The redskins have won three out of four games since then. They are playing better. The eagles do not expect this game tonight to be that easy. Its going to be a dog fight on monday. Its a great team thats coming down here. You know, and i think its going to be a battle the whole game. Thats probably the one team that is the most fun to play against in my opinion just because its so many battles even though weve lost some of them, i think theyre all very close games and the fans are so close to one another that they hate us and we dont like them. Its a Conference Game and thats how we have to approach it. Big stage, monday night. Hes the guy that everyone has been doubting since day one, ducis but after all sorts of criticism last year that hes not head coaching material Doug Pederson has come into his own. Hes earning praise from his players. I asked chris long who won a super bowl with Bill Belichick how pederson stacks up. He does a great job of setting the tone for energy and excitement every morning when you walk in the building. I can truly say that starts from the top and guys walk into work its not like man, were going to work, i mean, were coming to work, were going to work but were going to have fun and he keeps it light but he pushes off and knows when to back offer on off on the pedal a little bit. Ill have more on my oneonone count down to kickoff at 8 oclock and then at 8 30, eaglesredskins monday night football all tonight on phl17. And Jeff Skversky will have a rare oneonone interview with carson wentz in that special. Were live at the linc for jaime apody im Ducis Rodgers. Jeff, back to you. Wentz coming off his best two games of his young career. Oh and three for the fourth straight year, this is not what joel embiid and the sixers were expecting to start this promising season. Embiid and the sixers can get going in the right direction with a w tonight in detroit. Theres an element of lets get going, trying to get our first win trying to zoom in on the areas that can achieve that and its great to have joel back. We had a good candid conversation about tape, you know, what we saw from the toronto game and ready to get going. Well see if embiid can get going after the worst shooting night of his career on friday. Of course he sat out saturday up in toronto. All right, jeff, thank you. Cecily tynan with the accuweather forecast when we continue in just a moment. Some wet weather moving in. Much needed rain on the way. Clouds already in place. Action cam taking a look in Fairmount Park where we had bright sunshine for most of the weekend but the clouds continue to thicken as we are heading through the day and were live on sky6 taking a look over the ben franklin bridge. You can see first of all its gray, lots of cloud cover and also sky6 shaking a little bit. The winds generally picking up generally right now 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour out of the southeast ahead of a cold front. That will be bringing us some much needed rain and maybe even some thunderstorms tomorrow. So, the accuweather highlights will show you fortunately we are dry for the eagles game. Lots of clouds, maybe a sprinkle but that steady rain moves in during the day on tuesday, periods of rain through the day and then behind this system, since its a cold front much cooler air will be arriving by midweek. Right now though its very mild. Temperatures in the 70s. 72 degrees in philadelphia. Down from our high of 77. The same in trenton, allentown and reading. Cape may currenting 69 degrees. Satellite and radar showing the system im tracking, theres low pressure thats moving through the ohio valley. You can almost see that comma shape right there and what this will do is move up to our north and eventually to our east and drag the cold front through. That front has been causing some Severe Weather across the carolinas. Some tornado watches even extending into virginia. That is the system that brings us the rain tomorrow so tonight its cloudy its breezy, its very mild, 64 degrees in the suburbs, 66 for center city. Now, our normal high for this time of the year is 64. That rain will be arriving by day break tomorrow. So, future tracker timing it out 8 30 for the eagles game, lots of clouds, no steady rain, maybe a sprinkle or two. By 11 30, more clouds. Tomorrow morning by 6 oclock, this is when the rain begins to break out. At that point most of it west of philadelphia, through the day periods of rain, 11 oclock moving into trenton, into south jersey and then later in the evening, this is when we could get some gusty thunderstorms arriving along the shore areas west of philadelphia, the rain is generally just a morning event. So, the Severe Storm Prediction Center has put most of our viewing area, except for the far western suburbs under a risk of scattered Severe Weather. What this means, any thunderstorm could contain some damaging winds and even some small hail. Again, the best chance of that would be across south jersey. So, the exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, its windy with periods of rain at times, perhaps a thunderstorm, 74 degrees tomorrow. Wednesday some sunshine, cooler, 66 but the core of that cool air arrives on thursday. The high only 60 but friday temperatures back up to 68 degrees. The weekend saturday should be the better of the two days. Mixture of sun and clouds, 69 degrees. Sunday cloudy with some rain for the eagles game, 63. Behind it, a shower around on monday and look at that high only 58 degrees with an overnight low of 40. Much cooler air arriving and well have an update on action news tonight at 11 00. Thank you cecily. Abcs world news tonight with david muir next on channel6. Please join us for action news at 11 00 here on channel6.
