An emerging trend of crimes at atms has investigate ofs telling customers to be vigilant. They found skimming devices targeting people in the city and the suburbs. Reporter sharrie this has been a problem and now local police came across surveillance photos of persons of interest. They believe the men in the photos are installing skimming devices to replicate debit cards and steal money and they need help from the public identifying the men in the photos. The man on the left is expected of installing a skimmer like the device on the right in the fox chase section of philadelphia in the fox chase section and willow grove. To make a duplicate atm card and take money out of the bank, a theft that is occurring. The men in the photos are suspected of installing a similar device on a bank in abington. Captain roland lee captain the Major Crimes Unit explained that the skimming device is relatively easy to assemble. The magnetic strip is installed and stolen when inserting. Its not actually part of their regular equipment of the atm machine. Above the tiny camera records the the pin number when it is entered. People that have mechanical skills can put it together. Police feel confident that these three had the skills to assemble and install the skimming devices its an ongoing problem with 20 skimmers discovered in philadelphia alone. The same such skimmers are popping up on atms in the suburbs. And police need the public to help identify the persons of interest and take steps to pro tent themselveses.
